Prologue:

Long ago.

There exist two seedlings: one of Life and one of Death. However it wasn't long until both seeds grow and become what they are today: The Life Tree and Death Root. But due to both being opposites the two seeds were planted in two different locations before they fully grow. The Life Tree in a paradise land and the Death Root in a lifeless land. Yet to secure the balance so too must there be protectors: Life Tree having Celestials while the Death Root had Collectors. Key word had, for the Collectors went extinct due to the Death Root becoming too strong.

How did the Death Root cause the Collectors extinction? It because the Collectors were careless for thinking they were immune to the Death Root which was theirs downfall. For the Collectors weren't immune at all and was supposed to die out once they reach an age to be reborn. Yet the Collectors got greedy and collect souls of all many beings even ancients like primordials to gain everlasting immortality. Sadly they fell and die thus giving the Death Root more power than life itself.

But despite the Collectors extinction the Death Root found another way to keep the cycle going. By creating a invisible beast capable of devouring souls and returning the souls to the Death Root. Doing so would allow anyone to gain access on talking to the dead so long as the person have something that the dead once had before the death. Another thing is it hold records of all death throughout all Omniverses, Timelines, and Realities. Even having the records of how the soul was killed and who murdered them. However should someone kill another in front of the Death Root the roots stab both the victim and killer absorbing both souls. Thus making Death Root a dangerous tree but at the same time a kind tree to souls that was murdered.

How Elegia and Mastermind got the tree:

Over the years Death Root have be lonely, except for the visit from it creation, in the lifeless land. But one day a young couple arrive and ask for shelter which the tree did. During the couple time the Death Root can sense the evil growing in the couple yet it also sense pain. The couple then explain what happened to them: the man banished after having his heart broken, the woman was heart broken after seeing her twin got married to the man she had a crush on. However the woman also told that she was kidnapped by men who r*pe her for a whole year. But she discovered that no matter how many times she got r*pe she is unable to get impregnate. Which lead to the men dropping her off to a lifeless land where she discovered a crown containing a crystal after listening to the whispers that promise her revenge. After listening to the woman story the man explain how once he was exiled he encounter a temple containing a mirror that promise him both revenge and justice.

It was during the couple encounters that they gain power to get the revenge they seek but afterwards the woman decided to leave her world through the same mirror that the man use. Thus the two fell in love and decided to get married however during their travel back from their honeymoon they hit astroids that lead the couple here. After listening to the couple past the Death Root decided to give both couple a gift which was an fruit. But it wasn't an original fruit it was a special Durian that give a couple power to bring massive forces back to life. So with no hesitation both the couple break open the fruit and ate the two pieces. Doing so gave the couple powers to bring back forces of pure evil.

After receiving the powers the couple then pledge they will bring the Death Root to their future empire so that it won't be lonely again. And so the Death Root waited for a long time but after waiting for so long did the couple return yet their appearances are different. Never the less the couple did as they say and bring the Death Root to their empire know as Malicious Regime.
