Ena's POV:

The sun rays hit straight into my eyes. I placed my palm on my eyes to dodge them.

I hate waking up when I haven't slept properly.

Last night the neighbour's cat was relaxing on my windowsill and it meowed the entire night.

Can you just imagine?

It consumed my sleep.

There is still half an hour left till the time I normally wake up for school. I can hear footsteps outside. That means Ivan's awake. And these footsteps are nearing my room. I hastily close my eyes and pretend to sleep.

The door opened and closed just after a few moments.

I opened an eye of mine.

"Caught Ya'! You're awful at imitating."

I grinned.

"You woke up early too, lady," I replied. 

"Umm... Yeah, my sleeping time is unquestionably limited. Anyways."

"Something is burning", I sniffed.

"Yeah, I smell it too", Ivan's face changed to white "Oh Crap!"

"What?"

"I had pancakes put on the stove"

Ivan opened the door and dashed to the kitchen. It smelled even worse when the air in the lounge diffused in. "Ugh"

I got up too. It was roughly the school time. "Let me prepare them now Ivan, I've no hopes from you". She nodded as she rinsed the pan and the steam went up. I beated the eggs meanwhile. Ivan went to change after scrubbing the pan and I readily made the crepes.

**FLASHBACK**

I opened the door. The lounge was filled with the aroma of pizza. But I didn't bother to look in the kitchen, instead, I just climbed upstairs to my room. Although that heavenly smell was luring me towards it....still! I had just twisted the doorknob of my room's door when I overheard my mom speaking something about me. I perched a few stairs down.

"...why wouldn't she agree? I'll talk to her. She would never deny she's always happy around her..."

Then I heard another voice. It was from my stepfather. "Yeah. I mean, I shouldn't say it like that, but she interferes a lot in our discussions. And even if you don't feel comfortable with it, she would come back in a few months..."

It was just that exact moment when I showed up, and it was almost like I wailed:

"Feel comfortable with what? With whom? Can you just tell me in which of your discussions I intruded?" I didn't even take a single pause. And by the end of my sentence, I was panting.'HE' turned around as if 'HE' was dodging to meet my burning gaze. My mom was looking down. "Honey, I can justify. Calm down please," Her expressions softened when she had talked with me. She let a gasp out. I adore her. "Explain what mum?", I said peacefully.

"We were just thinking, and I also talked about it with Mrs Dhara... She was really glad when I talked about it to her. She is sending Ivan to Pinegrove for studies. I thought you would feel comfortable in the company of her, she is your best friend. It's a really good school. Its environment is really friendly. I thought it would be good if you try it out too."

Did she truly mean that?

Maybe she does.

I can't say no to her.

"You have plenty of time to ponder about it, honey! We're not pressing you."

'HIS' gaze went up towards my mum's face as if 'HE' wanted to say that 'HE' would force me.

I glanced at 'HIM' and then to my mum. I didn't even think about it, but I had concluded.

"I would go to mum"

'HE' was trying to control HIS smile but couldn't dare to do that.

"You can take time to think about it, love. Ivan will leave on Monday."

"I'm fine with this decision", I said that and strode upstairs.

**FLASHBACK ENDS**

It wasn't just about a few months.

An entire year has passed until now.

Mum and 'HE'! They're living happily as far as I know. I receive mum's call at least once a week.

"Ena? Are you okay?", Ivan was literally shaking me.

"Yeah, I'm... I'm okay. I was waiting for you"

"Uh-huh! Go change!" I realized that I haven't changed until now.

I got up. I picked my red shirt and my ripped jeans and went to change. Then I put on my mascara and my pink gloss and my sneakers ( can't forget them).

"You look hot!"

"Thanks for the compliments, Ivan. Can we have breakfast now?"

She smiled and advanced towards the breakfast table.

She drove to school today.

"Oh shit!"

"What now!"

"Elen had asked me to pick her up too for school"

"Great timings for you to tell me that"

I made an 'I'm sorry' face and Ivan took a U-turn.

We stopped the car at Elen's house around when it was 7:45 a.m. Elen who was dressed from head to toe in blue got in the car after Ivan gave two to three horns.

"Hey, guys! What are you up to?"

"Up to? You made us late!" Ivan was angry. I could see that.

"You guys came late. I'm not the one to be blamed"

Ivan gave me a stern look and frowned instead I shaped my mouth in a wide grin.

The first class was of chemistry in which I and Elen were together. Ivan had her language class. We were getting our tests back. "I got a 'B'. How much did you get?"

"Haven't got mine yet!"

Lucy handed my test over to me. "What the fudge!"

"What?"

"I got a 'D'"

I gotta work hard.

I need not divert myself with parties.

But better luck next time!

So the lecture started and I made notes for the first time in my life to keep my mind working.

I, Ivan and Elen were walking to the cafeteria of our high school when I saw some of those mad boys, who always annoy me with their foolish pranks, standing against the wall. "Jacky! Please get out of our way before I slap you with my own hands. Or do you like being beaten with Miss Nolan's stick"

"You're free to go miss Ena. We're enjoying by ourselves"

"Stop Ena! We shouldn't take part in stupid matters," Ivan told me.

Jacky smiled. I made sure before walking that he hasn't pulled on some silly prank again by putting a string to trip me or anything else.

So I started walking. I didn't even take five to six steps when I crashed on the floor by slipping.

It wasn't water, it was juice.

"Woah! That was a magnificent shot, Ena! Can you replay it?"

When I looked up I saw one of them making a video.

All of Jacky's friends laughed while I cried after running around the entire school after him.

Ivan took me to the washroom and comforted me.

"They ruined my fresh shirt!"

Elen told us after the school that she somehow made them delete the video.

That was satisfactory!...

Mum called me in the afternoon while I was reading the comics.

"How's school going darling?"

"Just the same as before. It's good to hear your voice. You don't call frequently these days?"

"I've been busy lately, so it's just that"

My phone beeped. Elen was calling me.

"Mom?"

"Yeah, honey?"

"I'll try to call you after some time. I need to go"

"That's fine. You go. Bye"

"Bubye!"

I dialled Elen.

"What?"

"Can you come over?"

"Why?"

"I need help with homework"

"Which?"

"Chemistry. And can you stop asking the 'W' questions?"

"You welled me in chemistry so why are you asking me?"

"Please? And bring Ivan with you"

I sighed. And ended the call.

The evening was boring. Elen made us coffee and brought a cake for us. We only did half a question and then put on a movie.

Oh *crap* I forgot my phone.

"Can we go now, Ivan?"

"Hmm"

When I reached home I just jumped onto my bed. My room was all messed up. My books scattered, and even my clothes were lying on the floor. I brought the basket to stuff them in and picked up all of my books and arranged them on my study table. Ivan was already asleep, I guess. I wrapped myself in the covers and checked on my phone.

11 missed calls?

Who was so eager to talk to me?

Mum?

I called her back.

"What happened? Are you all right mom?"

"It's just your dad....your stepdad was sick"

Her voice was gloomy and a little rough.

"So what should I do about that?"

"Ena! He's your father after all! You shouldn't talk like that."

"Anything else you wanted to say ma?"

She was quiet.

"Mum?"

"Yeah, I'm here"

"Don't worry about these slight matters. He'll be fine"

"Hmmmhm"

"Love you!"

"Love you too dear!"

My phone beeped, and the call ended.

The image of Him was a blur but I could make out that he was a guy with deep blue eyes. Same as mine. And he said with his fiery breath blazing my neck:

"Even I have none left,

I will make space for you!!!"

I woke up in the middle of the night and I was sweating, and it saturated my clothes! My heart was thumping loudly too!
