PROLOGUE
of Defending Him

I find it fascinating how the universe seemingly set us up to fail.

For example, gravity makes it easier to fall than to fly. Similarly, it's easier to shoot a gun at someone than it is to heal a fatal bullet wound.

Perhaps my thoughts are a bit morbid. But nonetheless, I feel that they're correct. I've been known to take the easier path in life in order to solve my problems.

The marks across my body is proof.

Slaps.

Punches.

Kicks.

Stabs.

Gun shots.

They're all things I know on a personal level, starting from childhood and will most probably continue into adulthood. Some wounds heal, some remain to this day.

I'm okay with this lifestyle. It's the only one I'm familiar with.
