Warnings: Blood

~3rd P.O.V~

As Jerome's eyes close Mitch urges himself to dive faster. His wings beat at an extraordinarily fast pace, and it takes Mitch everything he has to push pass the paralyzingly depths of the void and keep going. The moment Mitch has a hold of Jerome arm he flares his wings out, jerking back sharply and nearly losing his grip on the unconscious bacca. Grunting with effort, Mitch hugs Jerome tight to his body, his body searing with pain as he pumps his luminous wings, gradually pulling away from the void.

And then, Mitch's wings begin to fade.

Mitch's eyes widen in despair as suddenly the tips of his wings begin to be absorbed by the sheer darkness of the void. He beats his wings like his life depends on it, which quite frankly it does, and makes a tiny bit of leeway before once again, they begin to fall. Jerome is just too heavy for Mitch to support, and the power of the void is surpassing even his "indestructible" wings. In a panic Mitch rips off his armour and Jerome's, the diamond prices falling away for several seconds before disintegrating into clubs of black dust. For a moment they hover, Mitch struggling to stay awake. And then the void takes more of his wings, and they bring to descend.

On the island Lachlan shouts at the top of his lungs, his voice high and panicked as he urges Mitch to push and fly. His arms and even the upper portion of his body are fully extended off the edge of the island, but Mitch and Jerome are still about 50 blocks beyond his reach and steadily falling, the void consuming Mitch's wings. Void crashes ungracefully to the ground, her wings totally charred but still alive. She roars in agony, fire exploding from her mouth and her eyes filling in with a blinding purple light. She fires an extraordinarily powerful ball of energy at Lachlan, but Rob, seeing the situation, teleports in front of Lachlan and throws up a protective bubble around the two. Flame encases the bubble, and Rob is knocked back as the bubble shatters, leaving a giant crater in the ground.

The ground under Lachlan crumbles and he jumps away as several huge chunks of endstone go tumbling into the Void. As Vikk morphs into an iron golem and yanks Void by the tail, Rob jolts to the edge of the island, blasting the endstone apart with his mind milliseconds before it crashes into Mitch and Jerome, falling faster by the second.

Void blasts Vikk directly in the face with a pillar of fire, causing Vikk to creak angrily and reel back, clutching his face. Rob looks hastily between Jerome and Void, Jerome and Void, and then sprints over behind Void as she rakes her claws through Vikks abdomen, wings flapping uselessly behind her.

"Vikk, you need to do something!" Rob yells, skidding to a stop and momentarily restraining Void telekinetically. "I only have enough energy left to keep Void at bay, but I can't risk failing a spell to try and help them! Can't you morph into a phantom or something??"
Vikk turns back to his normal self, panting. "I can't turn into hostile mobs! I... I can't do anything. I'm sorry!"
"You need to try!" Rob pleas, yelping as Void breaks free of his hold and comes charging forward in animalistic rage.
"I can't do it!" Vikk shouts in exasperation, yet despite himself, running over to the edge of the island where Lachlan states helplessly down at Mitch and Jerome.
Lachlan looks Vikk dead in the eye, tears streaming down his cheeks. "Vikk, please. Nobody else can reach, Preston is dead, and if you don't do anything they're both going to die, too. Permanently." He says, his voice cracking and hoarse.

Vikk clenches his jaw, holding Lachlan's gaze steadily. His heart seems to throb loudly in his skull as he peeks over the edge, watching as Mitch gives it all he's got to try and pull Jerome out of the void, risking his own life as well. He turns and looks at Rob, exhausted and putting his all into physically wrestling Void on the ground, blood pouring from his noise and mouth as Void slams his head into the ground, claws clenching tightly around his throat. Then Vikk remembers Preston, his gem still with Jerome and in serious danger. Taking a deep breath Vikk closes his eyes. Nodding firmly, he turns to Lachlan.

       "Okay."

What am I going to turn into? I could try a dragon or the wither... but I couldn't even do a zombie the first time I tried. Vikk recalls, hitting his lip. A phantom won't be strong enough to lift them. A ghost is too slow. If I could only just make it easier for Mitch to lift him... I got it!

"Lachlan, lower me down into the Void. As far as you can go." Vikk orders, gathering his concentration.

Lachlan, curious and worried but not willing to question him, wraps his arms around Vikk's waist several times. Leaning dangerously over the edge, Lachlan grimaces as he feels Vikk's body begin to shift and bread and condense, focusing hard to maintain his grip as he lowers Vikk further into the Void.

Internally, Vikk screams in agony as paralyzing pain shoots through his body, blurring his vision and taking his very breath away. Despite the brutal pain, Vikk keeps the image of the mob he wishes to transform into in his mind, tears streaming down his cheeks as he wills his body to change, to fight the searing pain and save his friends. His eyes go into tunnel vision as he locks onto Mitch and Jerome, Mitch staring up at him with desperate eyes, sweat covering his face as his wings gradually deteriorate. The metallic taste of blood washes over Vikk's tongue and as he gives it his final effort, Lachlan stretching to his maximum length, Vikk spits out with as much force as he can muster.

Blood splatters out of his mouth, but from that blood, comes a glowing beige ball. The ball rolls forward, trailing behind it a white trail of mist. Vikk watches as it slams into Jerome, knocking them back, and then reverts to his human form and collapses limp in Lachlan's grasp.

Lachlan watches anxiously as this strange ball of light hits Mitch, seeming to do nothing but damage him. And then suddenly, Jerome is floating upwards. Lachlan's eyes widen and he winces as he struggles to stretch even just one more block as Mitch flaps his wings hard, the duo slowly rising back towards the island. Agonizingly suspenseful seconds pass as greyish particles support Jerome, Lachlan shifting Vikk into one arm and Mitch extending his arm towards Lachlan. For a moment it doesn't seem like they're going to make it as the particles fade, but then Mitch gives it one final push before they fall, and catches Lachlan's wrist.

Backpedaling as hard as he can, Lachlan pulls back with all his might and boosts Mitch and Jerome up, his muscles straining as he supports Vikk in one arm and Mitch and Jerome in the other. Mitch's vision doubles as he struggles to keep afloat despite his wings slowly starting to fill back in. With a final grunt of effort, Lachlan hurls himself back, dragging Mitch, Jerome, and Vikk over the ledge.

Mitch collapses in exhaustion, his skin deathly pale as he gasps for air. Lachlan falls back, clutching his shoulder as a sharp pain ebbs through it. Extorting so much effort, he popped it from it socket. Jerome lays still on the ground, as does Vikk, and in the background, Rob rips one of Voids own spikes from her tail. Blood caking his entire body and burns littering his body, Rob plunged the spike into Voids heart, who dies with a withering growl. He rips the key from her neck before stepping away, puking up blood, and lying down in a puddle of his own blood sweat and tears. Literally.

In the distance, the End portal opens.

And even further away, Herobrine seeths with fury.

Question of the chapter:

Did you think Jerome died?

Also it's not complete, but here is a work in progress of my interpretation of Void
