Maya's POV:

I ran into the Matthews house. I slammed the door behind me.

Great. Now Lucas' mom doesn't like me cause she thinks we..yeah know.

I would never do that till I'm like married!

Ugh.

"Maya are you ok?" I heard.

Riley came running towards me.

I ran into Riley's arms.

"Lucas. Mom. Caught. Us. " I cry.

"Speak." Riley says.

"Lucas' mom caught Lucas and I making out. I changed into his shirt and his mom thought we had..you know what." I wiped my tears.

"What!" Riley let's go of me.

"Did you?" Riley asked.

"Ew no!" I said.

"What do I do! I mean schools on Monday. I have like every class with Lucas." I say.

"Maybe you can stay home on Monday. But that's it." I heard.

I turned to see mr matthews.

"Don't you want me at school?" I asked.

"Of course I do but..you've had a rough past." Mr Matthews said.

How does he know?

I felt my face turn red. How does he know?

"Riley can maya and I talk in private." Mr Matthews said.

"Sure." Riley said and left.

Mr Matthews sat next to me.

"Your dad has told me a lot." Mr Matthews said.

"How? He left." I said a little annoyed.

"He knows me. I know him. We talk."

"How do you know each other?"

"Let's just say...remember Shawn?"

"Of course."

"Shawn. That's one of Shawn's friends. He became my friends. That how you and Riley met."

"So. Tell me. Why did he leave."

"He found your mom."

"My mom died 7 years ago."

"No. That's what your dad told you."

"So...are they coming back?"

"Maya...I'm sorry."

"It's fine. I'm use to it. But my dad always got drunk. He made me by him beer. And if I didn't he. He would beat me. He's drunk 24/7. He could have lied."

"He stopped drinking because of you."

"Because of me?"

"Yes. He knew he was a bad father. Once he got on that plane to your mom he knew he was wrong to leave you. He said if he ever sees you again. He wants to make you proud."

"He could have thought of that 7 years ago."

"Maya. I just want you to know why I put you in detention with Riley Farkle and Lucas."

"We'll then why."

"This talk were having. Would not have happened. You would have never fallen in love. You would have never bonded with Riley. You would have been enemies. You and Farkle wouldn't be close friends. You see. Everyone was meant to be on this planet. Some for good reasons. Some for bad. If you weren't here. We would not have had this talk. You would have probably had a better family and would never have the courage to look at Lucas and say that you love him. You would be still at your empty house doing nothing. If my family and I never thought of bringing you in then your friendships and relationships would not have happened."

"Are you saying that...my life..is actually good."

"Yes maya. Now I'll allow you to stay home on Monday but you must return Tuesday."

"Actually I want to go on Monday. I'll never know what I will miss from this life of mine."
