Maya was never going to get used to seeing the large wolves and no matter how much she wanted to deny it—her life was going to be revolved around them.

For starters, her cousin was one, and while it was not supposed to ever be the case of her knowing, it already happened.

The following factor, was Embry himself wanting her to be around them because with his mom always working, it was better safe than sorry in the current situation.

She was still young and he had promised his mother to watch over her. She was one of the most important people in his life and he wanted to make sure that she was under the watchful eye of him and the pack.

For the 13-year-old, it was a lot to take in and it still frightened her greatly at times when she couldn't force herself to be strong.

However, she was fortunate that Embry was trying his best to balance out caring for her, doing his job to protect and even his focus on his education—he was truthfully doing more than all the boys combined.

So, Maya did not argue with his decision to involve her in the packs business. To her she's come to the decision that this was a weight off his shoulder knowing, even if it was horrifying.

The one thing, however, was that neither of the cousins had expected that with Maya knowing—she had to be careful who she was friends with.

It was rather unfair, but Sam had explained he needed to know her enough to trust that she wasn't going to tell anyone.

She understood it, but Embry didn't really take it so well—which almost led to him feuding with Sam. Though, it was avoided when Maya had stepped in—much to Embry's horror—and stated that'd she prove she can be trusted.

Which did not take so long as Sam expected. He had not given her enough credit and soon enough he allowed her the freedom to not always be around them or the pack.

With her permitted freedom, Maya had continued to keep her word. She never spoke about anything that led to hints about the boys and most of the locals had really just seen the young preteen as an abundant outgoing person.

Things led on to her easily fitting in and one way or another to eventually having come across to befriending the Clearwater's and gotten quite along with Leah.

At the time, she and Seth did not really interact, but the moment the chance had come, the pair had immediately become friends.

Though the thought of a relationship had not been even anywhere in their minds, because it just never dawned to be important to them as they were friends.

However, it did not mean that the feelings couldn't exist.
