For the next two days, the rain didn't stop and along with it, the powercut.

Andrew couldn't continue his gaming as the back-up power they had went off a few hours after the power cut. The gas lines were cut as well as the water supply because the cyclone was getting worse and they were surviving on only dry food and salads.

Andrew and his parents had set aside all the foods that would rot and they were lucky that they had the wood burner so they were using it until now.

The radio wasn't working well and no forecast on the weather. Their basement had already filled with water and it had started to have a leak.

They were scared of the sea level rising. Depending how much it would rain more, it wouldn't be long when they would meet a flood.

It was already night and Andrew's room was devoured by darkness. He had a bread and his dad made grilled fishes. This was the last supply of fishes they had and if they didn't eat it, it would have wasted.

Because their food supply was running low, Andrew couldn't take a piece of fish instead he somehow managed to sneak out a piece of bread for Avaloth.

Apparently, it was a good decision to buy some cinnamon rolls as the devil kept getting hungry. He couldn't complain since last night he couldn't come with anything but only an apple. His mother kept counting the food. She would notice if one was missing.

Avaloth had only two cinnamon rolls yesterday with an apple and he knew it wasn't enough. Even his parents and he didn't eat much. Just enough to make their hunger go.

Avaloth munched on the bread as he laid on the bed. She was sitting beside him as he gave her the last two pieces of the cinnamon rolls.

She ate everything blissfully while her tail wiggled.

The downpour could be heard from outside of the window as his eyes went there. There was a little bit thunder present there but it didn't have the same intensity he had witnessed before.

He wished if it could stop now. Their normal lifestyle was hindering by it and it might have cost some casualties already.

For two days, Avaloth was wearing his clothes as he couldn't wash their previous wet clothes due to the water supply was cut. Wasting on washing or cleaning would cost them if the power outage continued.

He couldn't send away Avaloth either since her unique home would fell on her head. The wind was strong and they could hear it slapping on their house angrily.

He sighed and moved his eyes to Avaloth who was looking at him. He couldn't see her eyes or her face in the darkness but he could sense her gaze was on him for longer.

"What?" He asked.

"Do you-do you want to have the last piece of cinnamon rolls?" She asked as he could only see a shadow of her tail wiggling behind her in slow motion as an autumn leaf swaying in the air. He knew she was hungry. Lately, he surprisingly could understand her feelings through her tail. Even if she lies, her tail couldn't.

They say, 'Eyes don't lie', but in her case, 'Tails don't lie'.

"No. Eat it."

"Err... but I am not hungry." She said as her tail ducked low and froze in the air. She was lying.

"Eat it because from tomorrow you might not get to eat anything."

She nodded and ate it. Andrew felt a little hungry but that was because he craved his potato chips.

"Hmm..." He heard Avaloth humming beside him.

"Maybe, I should go get another lightning strike." She said and Andrew gave her a look.

"Seriously?"

"If I get power, I wouldn't feel hungry for days and besides, I can go and steal food. Fufufu." Andrew could hear her evil laugh and knew she was going insane because of the hunger.

"No stealing! Stay here and get starve to death instead."

"That's boring!" She pouted.

Andrew didn't want to argue nor he wanted any kind of problems because his mind was getting foggy with the starvation. He did like her plan to steal food since she could teleport far away in a blink but that meant she had to get electrified for that. He doubted she survived the last one with mere luck.

"Shut up and stay here." He said, "We will wait until tomorrow. If the rain didn't stop do whatever you want."

He sensed Avaloth stiffening beside him and he asked, "What?"

"I got horns!" She exclaimed.

His eyes tried to see but it was too dark. All he could see a moving silhoutte jumping around his room. "Will you stop jumping! Mom and dad will hear you!"

"Bu-but I got horns!" She said happily and kept touching the side of her head. "See...! See!"

She came closer, her tail wiggling frantically and although he could barely distinguish between her horns and her hair, he nodded. "Hmm... I can't see anything."

She caught his hands and led it to her horns. Then he felt her two tiny horns that were poking out of her head. They were merely an inch tall that no one could notice them in her hair.

She said in excitement, "I got horns! That means I am a strong devil!"

"Sure. A devil with two nut-like horns."

At that, Avaloth's excitement perished and she fumed with anger. "Andrew McAllen... you...!"

Andrew grinned and challenged her, "I, what?"

She turned around and he heard a sniff, "You always make fun of me like others! I am going back!"

"And go where exactly?" He asked, "To that 24x7-hours-water-pouring-down home?"

Avaloth's body shook as she sat up from the bed. He could hear her voice breaking. "Yes. I made that home all by myself even if I have no powers. Go make fun all you want but I will stay there from now on."

And she was about run toward the window when Andrew caught her tail and she screamed, "Gyahhh!"

"Don't touch my tail so casually!" She yelled at him.

"Why?"

"My tail is the most sensitive part of my body! It hurts if you pull it!" She growled, "Only mates could get to touch them."

"Ho~ That's a new information." He grinned evilly.

He could feel Avaloth glaring at him and his grin broadened.

"What's with getting horns, by the way?" He asked as he was sure he hadn't seen any horns on her head and suddenly, there were horns. And she seemed to be very happy about it.

"Getting horns means you are getting powerful. Not everyone can get horns. Even if some demons cultivate their powers for centuries, they don't get horns." She said and the end of her tail moved proudly in his hand.

Then she paused and thought for a moment. He could see a bulb turning off and on in her head as she said excitedly, "Maybe I should go and get hit by lightning. Then my horns will grow big and I will get more powers! Then I can seduce more men!"

At that, Andrew felt a tingle in his belly that he couldn't decipher. His skin felt small burns all over it and he didn't like the sound of it.

He rubbed his thump on her tail as she froze and as if he could see small shivers running on her skin.

He said, his voice turning dark and husky, "You are not allowed to seduce anyone."

Both of them went still: Avaloth for hearing something outrageous from Andrew for the first time and Andrew for telling that which sounded as if he was...jealous?

He felt weird to even think about it and he didn't know why the heck he would say something so cringey.

Andrew let go of her tail and said with a hesitation coating his voice, "S-stay here. You might get pneumonia if you stay there."

He wasn't sure if devils get any humanly diseases but the rainfall was certainly heavy.

Avaloth didn't say anything as she nodded and sat on the bed. And an eerie silence fell over them.

Andrew laid down flat while Avaloth sat maintaining a short distance. It was getting awkward.

"I am sorry." Andrew said breaking the silence.

"F-for what?"

"For making fun of your horns." He said as he felt he shouldn't do that because in her case, it was a big achievement.

Avaloth didn't say anything for a moment but then she said with a sad voice, "It's okay. I am accustomed to it."

Andrew felt the need to know what happened to her when she was in hell. It sounded something like humans would do to belittle the weak or would not acknowledge someone else's efforts. Was her world the same as them?

"What do you mean by that?" He asked.

Avaloth laid down beside him and turned to her side, now her back was facing him. "They would tell me that no matter what I wouldn't get horns because my mom didn't have them."

"Does it have anything to do with your parents having horns?"

She shrugged. "My mom was killed when they took me to the house. All of them had horns but me. The superiors would always avoid me because I came from the lowest races of the demons."

"You don't seem like that weak to me." Andrew said as Avaloth turned around and he could imagine her dark eyes portraying shocked expression. He added, "Getting hit by 50,000 volts of lightning, teleporting both of us in the strong wind, using your powers to bend the rules of physics and finishing a whole packet of cinnamon rolls in just two days don't seem like a weak devil could do."

"You are making fun of me again!" She said as she turned her back to him again. It made Andrew to chuckle and he saw her tail wiggling frantically. He knew she was happy to hear that someone had acknowledged her even through it was just a little bit.

Andrew didn't know what powers or how much powers a devil could possess but getting hit by lightning was no joke.

He leaned closer where her neck was and said, "Let's make you a home when all of this will be over."

"Pinky promise?" She mumbled.

"Pinky promise."
