Wonder: A Poem

The curious sight of dusty boxes

cardboard folds holding toys, stuffed foxes.

Books abandoned in a locked up chest

Where stories of wonder lulled children to rest.

The promise of adventure in overgrown weeds

Treasure, madness, unspeakable deeds

A key, a rose, a boat, a snake

few of them wonders that man can make.

An overstuffed wardrobe, oak scented and old,

A hiding place, a reading spot, safe from the cold

The entrance to Narnia, or simply a closet?

Imagination's wonder 'tis a bridge; if you cross it.

The beauty and wonder of an everyday thing,

A book, a blanket, a hat, a spring.

A bolt of lightning, a flash of thunder,

Filling the mind with a sense  of Wonder.
