Sonakshi

I laid in bed thinking about the events that took place earlier. The discussion of my marriage had become the hot topic of our house. Some matchmaker aunty my mom knew was finding a suitable match for me. But the only thing I could think about was my future. I was studying to become a fashion designer, and I didn't want to leave that after getting married. But, I'm sure its fine. I mean, times have changed and I don't think people are that controlling anymore. I gazed up at the ceiling letting my thoughts swirl around like a tornado. Leaving them unanswered I dosed off letting sleep take over me

I woke up the next morning, feeling a mix of excitement and trepidation. The conversation about my marriage lingered in my mind, causing a flutter of uncertainty. I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and let out a deep sigh, trying to calm the whirlwind of thoughts inside me.As I got ready for the day, I glanced at my reflection in the mirror. The reflection staring back at me was a young woman filled with dreams and aspirations. I reminded myself that I had worked hard to pursue my passion for fashion design, and I wasn't ready to let it slip away.I entered the bustling kitchen where my mother was busy preparing breakfast. She glanced up at me, a mix of concern and excitement in her eyes.

"Good morning, bacha. theek se soyi?" she asked, her voice filled with a motherly warmth.

I nodded, offering her a small smile. "ji mumma." I paused for a moment, gathering my thoughts.

"Mumma, mujhe mere rishte ki baat karni hai."

My mother looked at me, her expression softening.

"Bolo beta, kya hua?." We settled at the kitchen table, the aroma of freshly brewed tea filling the air.

I took a deep breath, finding the right words to express myself.

"Mumma, Main jaanti hoon ki ab mujhe shaadi karleni chahiye. Aur aap yehi chahti hai. Lekin aap jaanti hai ki mere liye meri padhai, career, mere sapna kitene maine rakhte hai. Main nahi chahti ki koi aise ghar me meri shaadi ho jaha mujhe kaam karne ki bhi azaadi na mile. Mom, I

My mother listened attentively, her eyes filled with understanding.

"Bilkul bacha. Waqt badal gaya hai, Main bhi tumhari khushi hi chahti hoon. tumhare sapne mere liye bhi utne hi keemti hai jitne ki tumhare liye. Main bhi yahi chahungi ki yeh poore ho."

Relief washed over me as I realized my mother's willingness to listen. I continued, my voice filled with hope.

"Mumma, main shaadi ke baad kaise sab karungi? pata nahi kaun kaisa hoga. kisko kya pasand hoga."

My mother smiled warmly, reaching across the table to hold my hand.

"Tum meri beti ho. Mujhe tumpe poora vishwaash hai tum karlongi. Ab yeh sab chodo rishta hoga tab sochenge."

A wave of gratitude washed over me, knowing that my mother understood and respected my desires. It was a start—a glimmer of hope in navigating the complexities of tradition and modernity.

As I finished my breakfast, I felt at ease. Knowing the fact that there was time anyway. I went to my bedroom to get ready and head for college.
