Hey! Before you start reading, I need to say something important!

This book is a rewrite of the original book!! Both are yandere Shuichi books titled "Valentine's Day" and this will follow the same general plot as the original, but it will have several new and edited scenes! Since there's so much I'm changing, I decided it'd be easier to just put the "remastered" version in an entirely new book. Not only does it make it easier for me to change things, but the original gets to stay up for anyone who would want to read the original to see how much the book has changed or if they prefer the original for some reason.

Without further ado, let's start the book~!

"Hope's Peak College Program... created for Ultimate students to hone their talents in a college setting and build connections to the outside world," You commented to yourself in slight mockery. You felt your tight grip on the steering wheel of your car tighten just a little, letting the color return to your knuckles. Your hands had been tightly clenching the wheel for the entire drive to the college campus because you were so nervous. You hadn't attended Hope's Peak Academy as a high school student because you'd been scouted your senior year of high school and invited to their college program when you graduated, so you had no idea how things would operate. Would the rules be super strict? Would you make any friends? What if the classes were too hard?

Letting out a sound that was partially a sigh and partially a groan, you slowed down your car as you came to a red light. You were close enough to the campus that you could see the buildings more clearly and you could make out some people walking around. The campus itself was huge- when you were at orientation you remembered they gave a rough estimate of the size of the campus but you couldn't remember the number off of the top of your head. All you remembered was that the number had shocked you as well as the entire orientation group and you had definitely felt the size of the campus when you had walked around to find your classes. That felt like a distant memory now, and you couldn't remember your way around the campus whatsoever.

The red light turned green, and you gently pressed the acceleration pedal of your car as you got a better look at the buildings on the campus. Every single one was huge and very obviously modern. You couldn't help but wonder how many millions of dollars it took to make such a huge college campus, but you reminded yourself that Hope's Peak was a very rich school. This had probably only put a small dent in their wallet.

"Gaah... I wasn't even recognized as an Ultimate until my senior year and my talent is a joke anyways. I feel like such an idiot to be going here... I should've just said no," You mumbled weakly to yourself, feeling your pride diminish even more and more as you continued to slowly drive around the campus, trying to find your dorm. There were several buildings for dorms spread out across the campus, and each dorm building was generally sorted out by what everyone was majoring in. For example, people with talents in music were all put in dorms closer to where the music building was and people with math related talents were put in dorms closer to the math building. You had a science related major, so your dorm would probably be closer to the science building.

Your Ultimate talent wasn't really impressive, though. You were called the Ultimate Forensic Scientist after you just happened to help solve a crime by complete accident. A murder had occurred where you lived and you decided to visit the crime scene, but as a normal passerby you were only allowed to stay behind the crime scene tape. You'd got as close to the crime scene as you could and could feel people practically shove you into the tape in an attempt to get closer to see what was going on, but you'd ignored it as you managed to catch a glimpse of the body. You made an offhand comment to yourself out loud about the blood spatter not quite matching with the item they claimed was the murder weapon, and a detective happened to overhear your comment. Although it broke all procedures and you'd protested the entire way, the detective who was put in charge of the case decided to make you an unofficial consultant for the case and when it was discovered that you'd played a huge part in solving the case, Hope's Peak sought you out and dubbed you the Ultimate Forensic Scientist.

Except for that one moment of glory, you'd never done anything special. If that detective hadn't have been close enough to overhear your comment, you wouldn't have even become the Ultimate Forensic Scientist. If you'd just kept your mouth shut...

"Ah! Eagle Hall!" You snapped out of your thoughts as you read the sign that indicated you'd finally found the proper dorm after driving around the campus without any direction for several minutes. Feeling a smile spread across your face at your victory of finding out where your dorm was, you searched the parking lot for a spot as close to your dorm as you could. The very large parking lot already had several cars parked in it, and the entire place was bubbling with activity as people brought bags and boxes full of their personal belongings up to their dorms, or people came empty handed who were just finding their dorm or had already finished bringing everything up. It felt weird to know this was probably going on at several different buildings since there were already so many people just at this one building! Where did all these people come from?! Were there really that many Ultimate students?

You finally found a parking space that was relatively close to the dorm building, though it wasn't exactly the closest either. It didn't matter, though. You reached around in your pocket to make sure you had the key to your dorm that you'd received at orientation- sure enough, it was there. Engraved in very small letters was 'C314' to indicate the room it belonged to, "Okay... if I remember, at orientation they said the first floor had A dorms, the second floor had B dorms, the third floor had C dorms, and so on... for this building, anyways. I guess I better look for my dorm on the third floor, then."

Putting the key back in your pocket and opening the door to your car, you finally stood up for the first time in a while. You allowed yourself to stretch out your legs, feeling the freedom after being stuck in your car for the long drive here. Not only was traffic heavy because so many people were also moving into their dorms, but you lived in a different city than the college was in so you had to drive a relatively far distance. After basking in your freedom for a couple of minutes, you got back to the task at hand. You figured you'd be making several trips to your dorm and you'd probably get tired, so you decided that you'd bring a few light things with you while you found your dorm. Opening the trunk of your car, you grabbed a couple of smaller boxes as well as a drawstring bag {you slung the bag over your shoulder}. Once you'd grabbed the small load, you closed and then locked your trunk and made your way to the large building.

"I hope my roommate isn't a bitch or anything..." You whispered to yourself. Dorms were assigned to two people {except for a few buildings that had four people to a dorm, but you were in a building that had two people to a dorm}, so you knew that unless you ended up getting lucky and either not being assigned a roommate or your roommate decided to drop out last minute, you were going to have a roommate. Well, at least you knew your roommate would be a girl since administration made it clear that they'd only assign roommates of the same gender {in the case of trans people they'd go by the gender they identified as, and nonbinary people could only room with other nonbinary people}.

You felt your anxiety rise as you got closer and closer to the doors of the dorm building, but you forced yourself to keep going anyways. Almost trembling, you stepped inside the building for the very first time. People had kept talking during orientation so you didn't have time to actually go inside the dorm building like you were supposed to, so this was all a first sight for you. You weren't sure what you had been expecting to see, but this definitely wasn't your first guess. There was a large lobby on the ground floor that was almost like a giant community living room and kitchen combined!

In one corner there were a few couches facing a large TV with a few beanbags also scattered around. The floor over there was carpeted while the rest of the lobby had a tile floor. There were a few small tables in another corner, some of which were currently occupied by what looked like a gay couple since they were holding hands and acting rather flirtatious with each other. You paid little attention to them as you looked around the rest of the lobby, looking in the third corner to see a community kitchen. It had two stoves and two ovens and a counter with several different kitchen appliances, though there were no drawers so you assumed people would have to supply their own pots, pans, silverware, etc. There were also two sinks as well as an island with a few different power outlets near the surface. In the final corner there was what looked like a study area with a few single desks and a couple of desks that could hold up to four people. Well, at least the dorm lobby seemed comfortable enough.

Finally pulling your attention away from the lobby that was empty except for the gay couple, you noticed the elevators right at the entrance to a hallway to your right so you walked inside the elevator and pushed the call button. It took a few seconds before the door opened, and an energetic looking boy literally skipped out of the elevator, giggling like a child. You were a bit weirded out at the boy's behavior, but you cast it aside as you took his place in the elevator, pressing the button to go to the third floor. As the elevator doors slowly closed you thought to yourself as one of your friends had told you Ultimate students were notorious for having very colorful personalities, regardless of whether or not it was a positive or negative thing. Guess that explained the strange behavior of the boy.

"Huh...? I feel sick..." You mumbled to yourself, wanting to clutch your stomach from the slight motion sickness the elevator was giving you due to you being so nervous, but the small boxes in your hands only allowed you to use one hand if you awkwardly balanced the boxes like you had for when you pushed the elevator buttons, and you were too lazy to set down the boxes, no matter how small they were. Instead, you decided to deal with the discomfort until you could get out of the elevator.

Not that much longer later, the elevator came to a halt and the doors opened, and you stepped out of the elevator and onto the third floor. The elevator left you in the middle of a rather long hallway and there were dorms with the room number on a little plate next to it. There was a small whiteboard just to the side of each plate and a marker attatched to the wall by a cord, each marker having an eraser on the tip of the pen and resting neatly on top of each whiteboard. Some whiteboards that people had already written on had the marker carelessly dangling from the wall, though.

You wanted to get a better feel for your surroundings more, but for now you had to find your dorm! Looking at the numbers of the nearest dorms, you saw C309 and C310 so you figured that your dorm was rather close to the elevator. As you walked down the hall, your assumpting was proven true when just a little further down the hall you found your dorm: C314. You wondered if your roommate had already showed up, and you tested the door to see if it was locked or not. The door's handle barely budged, so you somewhat awkwardly balanced the boxes against your torso with one arm as your other fished around in your pocket for your dorm key. You retrieved it after a couple of seconds, and you put the key in the lock and slowly turned it, causing a clicking sound to be heard to indicate the door was now unlocked. Not sure if you would see your mystery roommate on the other side of the door, you opened the door just a crack to peer inside, only to see nobody. There was nothing to indicate they'd already showed up and were getting more of their stuff, either.

Sighing in a bit of relief, you took your key out of the lock and put it back in your pocket. You still didn't feel ready to meet your roommate, so if that dreaded meeting could be prolonged you'd gladly take it. You looked around the small dorm room to see two identical beds with grey blankets and pillows in the far corners of the room with a space just big enough for two or three people to stand back to back between the beds. There was also a window between the two beds that was currently closed with the blinds down, and your 'emo side' chose to leave it like that because you were more comfortable like that. At the foot of each bed was a black desk with a matching black desk chair, both of which were currently neatly pushed in. There were matching wardrobes in the corners of the room closest to you, though on the left side there was a mini fridge and a microwave squeezed between the desk and the wardrobe.

You placed your boxes on the bed on the left side to mark it as yours in case your roommate came in while you were gone, wanting to mark it as yours just for the fact it was the side with the mini fridge and the microwave. Imagine how convenient it would be for you to just reach down and grab something from the fridge, or even to pop something in the microwave! Just in case your roommate was a bitch who'd try to take your place, you further marked your territory by opening your boxes and somewhat haphazardly spreading your clothes on the bed. It would take a pretty determined person to steal your claimed side of the dorm now!

You took the now empty boxes and easily collapsed them so they were now flat pieces of cardboard, and you decided to take them with you. At least during orientation you'd been shown where the trash can was. Well- it was more like two giant dumpsters. It was just outside the dorm building in its own little cove and was the only place trash would be taken out by whoever was in charge of taking it out, which was inconvenient but it made sense. Going to each individual dorm to take out the trash would take way too much time.

You used the elevator once more to head back to the first floor, and about a minute later you were at the ground floor. The couple you'd seen in the lobby was now gone, though now there were a few others in the lobby. The boy you'd seen leaving the elevator earlier was carelessly laying in one of the bean bags watching the TV, and there was another boy using one of the stove burners in the kitchen. You could smell the bacon and it made your mouth water just a bit, but you forced yourself to ignore the smell as you left the building and made your way back outside. You took a detour to the dumpster and threw your collapsed boxes inside the dumpster, not having any use for them anymore. You could theoretically keep them for when you'd have to move out of your dorm again, but you had no practical place to store the boxes until then so you chose to just dispose of them. Worst case scenario, you'd have to buy some boxes.

Once you'd thrown away the boxes, you made your way back to your car. There was a bit less activity than when you'd first arrived, but since not much time had passed it wasn't by much. You paid little attention to the strangers you passed as you got back to your car, unlocking and opening the trunk to access your things. After a bit of contemplation, you chose a medium sized box, only being able to carry the one box since you had no smaller boxes to stack on top. This box took both of your hands to carry, so you had to set it down in order to close and lock your trunk once more. You picked the box back up and started heading back up to your dorm.

"I wonder if she'll show up soon... Ugh, I hope not... what if she's a complete bitch?" You continued to worry. For months now that same question had been repeating in your mind when you learned that you'd have a roommate, and at this point just because you were so nervous you practically treated it like proven fact despite not even knowing her name or meeting her yet. You didn't know anything about her.

As you walked back into the building the same people that were in the lobby were still there, though you could hear loud footsteps coming from the hallway. A girl suddenly burst into the lobby, looking scared for her life and even sweating as she gasped desperately for air. She didn't stop to acknowledge anyone in the lobby, instead slowly and clumsily continuing to run, going into the other hallway. You assumed it was some kind of loop or that was where her dorm was, but why the hell was she running?

The answer came shortly after as one of the boys you recognized to be in the gay couple you saw earlier sprinted after her, being much faster than her {and thus gaining on her} but just as out of breath. He laughed as he ran, shouting, "Neooonnnn~!! Get back here, I wanna play a gameee~!"

You could hear the girl yelling a reply back at him, though from the distance she'd gained all you heard was the word 'peasant.' You blinked a few times in an attempt to register what the hell had just happened, staring at the space that had been occupied by the two of them just seconds ago. It was definitely one of those 'what the hell happened here?' moments.

After getting over your momentary shock of that weird scene, you made your way to the elevator with the air of awkwardness all around you. You could hear the shouting of the two getting closer, making you assume that it was in fact a loop. You kind of bumped the elevator call button with your fist, being too lazy to properly set down the box to push the button, trying to ignore their shouting which was getting louder. As you waited for the elevator, the girl and the boy appeared again, this time with the girl trying to peel the boy off of her as he clung onto her arm like a child.

"Come on Neon, I wanna play Mario Kart!! Pleaaaseee?" the boy whined just as the elevator doors finally opened. A few people stepped out of the elevator, and once they'd cleared you stepped inside the elevator. This time you set down your box so you could push the small button for the third floor properly, and once the elevator doors closed the loud conversation between the two people was brought to muffled yelling. As the elevator made its way up, it was quickly drowned out to absolute silence.

Once the doors opened to the third floor, you picked up your box and made your way to your dorm, hoping that your roommate still wouldn't be there. A new wave of anxiety immediately washed over your entire system as you worried that your roommate would be there, growing as you got closer to your dorm. When you saw that the door was left slightly ajar, you felt like you would have a heart attack. That meant your roommate was inside since you'd locked the door behind you, right?!

Despite feeling really nervous, you forced yourself to step inside. Your roommate's back was facing you, though as you got your first look at them you questioned if they were even a girl. Was it maybe someone transitioning to a girl or was it just a really masculine looking girl? Well, their navy blue hair was short for a girl but somewhat long for a boy so it was hard to tell. Their shoulders were very angular and masculine and they seemed to have the general build of a boy, but you couldn't gather any other hints to their gender because their back was turned to you.

"Um... hello?" You awkwardly spoke up, making your roommate jump in surprise before turning to face you. You immediately noticed how feminine their face was in contrast to their masculine body- especially their eyelashes. Those were some long fucking eyelashes!

"W-wait, you're not a boy!" your roommate spoke. Wait... so your roommate was a boy? That didn't make any sense!

"And you're not a girl!" You pointed out the obvious, "H-hold on, do you maybe have the wrong room or something? Only people of the same sex are supposed to room together-"

"I was about to ask you the same thing... but we can easily tell by showing our keys," the boy pulled out his dorm key from his pocket that had 'C314' engraved in it, silently prompting you to show your key as well.

You set your box down on the desk you'd claimed and took out your key, showing off the 'C314' engraving on it as well to show him that a boy and a girl had indeed been put in a dorm together.

"That's... really strange," the boy awkwardly commented as he put away his key. You put your key away as well, feeling just awkward as he did. He'd probably been expecting to room with another boy just as you'd been expecting to room with another girl- but that had obviously not happened!

"Maybe they made a mistake...?" You offered a possible answer to the error in room assignment. The boy put a hand to his chin in thought as he spoke.

"It's possible. They could've also just run out of dorms and had no choice but to put us in the same dorm," the boy added another theory, "We'll have to contact administration about it."

"Administration...? Hhhnnnn... they're probably really busy already though..." You mumbled, feeling yourself want to crumble in on yourself.

"Regardless of how busy they are, it's their job to take care of big issues like this. If they don't at least acknowledge our problem, then they're not properly doing their job," the boy had a gentle tone to his voice, though his words were almost aggressive. You could tell from the way he spoke them that he'd simply meant it to be spoken fact, but with the words he chose it gave an aggressive aura to him.

"I guess... uh... hey, what's your name?" You asked a bit weirdly. You hoped it wasn't too weird of a question to ask. Well... theoretically this was your roommate at least for now, right? It wouldn't be too weird to ask for his name then, right?

"I'm Shuichi Saihara, and I'm the Ultimate Detective. What's your name?" Shuichi returned the question, and although for some reason your throat felt like it could close in on itself you made yourself answer his question.

"I'm (Y/N) (L/N)... the Ultimate Forensic Scientist. Don't get excited about our talents matching pretty close though... I'm not even employed anywhere so my title is complete bogus."
