Epsilon woke up to a blanched room, completely free of color except for the orange of the setting sky right outside the window. The bed was white. The walls were white. Everything was white. Surprisingly, the voices were completely silent for once. Just on the other side of door, she heard a few muffled voices. One of them she recognized as Kakashi.

"What do you mean you can't heal her?" He spoke.

A more feminine voice talking next, most likely a healing ninja or nurse. "It's just what it sounds like. There's no way I can heal her."

"Explain."

"Well, I've never seen anything else like it. She..." The woman hesitated. Kakashi probably raised an eyebrow. "Well, she doesn't have any chakra."

There was a silence.

"There's no such thing as not having chakra. Everyone has at least some if they are living. It's what keeps us alive."

"I know that." He voice became so hushed that Epsilon had to strain her ears to make out the words. "That's why I'm saying I've never seen anything like it, and I can't heal her. We use chakra to mend people, but since her body doesn't naturally have chakra, it doesn't accept ours. It only rejects it making things worse."

She wanted to hear more, but her throat seized up and a fit of coughs overtook her now frail body. She had to shift and lean on her elbow to keep from shaking too much. The medic nin quickly opened the door and rushed to her side and left Kakashi standing just outside the doorway.

The medic tried various things to try and get her to stop coughing, but nothing worked, and the pain was becoming immense. The jounin was suddenly at her side and pressed a single finger into the pressure point on her neck. She let out one more cough before it stopped.

Epsilon panted heavily and cast a wary glance at the silver haired man. "How..." Only a single word managed to escape her lips, but a full thought was conveyed.

"Let's just say it's one of the many things I've picked up on the path of life." She could just barely see the faint all-too-innocent smile through his mask.

She was about to question him further when the nurse placed a hand on her shoulder and gently pushed her back to where she was laying on the pillow again. "Miss Zeta," she spoke kindly yet forcefully. "You need to stay in bed and rest. Your body hasn't fully recovered and won't be for at least another day."

The more she thought about it, the more she realized the nurse was right. Her stomach still felt aflame and her right eye throbbed in sync with her heart beat. She then realized multiple wrappings were circling her head and intersecting at that eye. She gently touched the bandage around her eye. No pain there, but that didn't stop her eye from hurting any less. "What happened to my eye?" She croaked out.

The nurse checked her clipboard. "Well, looks like it began bleeding from an internal injury that we weren't able to identify. Fortunately, it's healing exponentially fast and should be back to the way it was before soon." Epsilon sighed in relief. "I'll leave you two so you can catch up. If anything happens, call and another nurse should be nearby." She then swiftly walked out of the room with the sound of clacking heels following her down the hall.

Kakashi leaned against the windowsill not even looking at her. "So how much did you hear?" She didn't bother trying to dodge the subject, but she didn't like to admit that she had eavesdropped. But she just couldn't not listen when she was being talked about.

Instead of answering in a statement, she thought a question would be more suitable. "Why don't I have chakra?"

He placed a hand to his chin, now deep in thought. "I'm not sure. The fact that you don't have any sends up a red flag. Also what bothers me, was that you were able to copy a kekkei genkai. Even with a Sharingan eye, which you don't posses, you wouldn't be able to copy it. Kekkei genkai's are a genetic trait. They are only able to be used by someone in the family who has the trait. You can't be a Hyuga, your eyes aren't pale enough." He switched his calculating eyes to her. "So how did you do it?" He stared at her for a few more seconds before he closed his eyes and waved his hand dismissively. "I'm too tired to think about it now." He stood up and made his way to the door.

"Kakashi." Epsilon called after him. He turned to her and nodded his head, letting her know he was listening. "To be honest, I have no idea. It just came to me." He looked away, obviously deep in thought. He then rounded the corner and walked away.

A second later he poked his head around the corner. "Oh and Zeta, I've said that you aren't well enough to do the next test, which is true of course, but the next one is..." He drifted off but she understood the point.

"The next test is Ninjutsu." She spoke softly to avoid hurting her voice too much.

He nodded. "You won't have to take it for now, unless I tell the Hokage and he personally tells you or me that you won't have to take it. Other than that I can't really help."

She nodded grimly. "Tell the Hokage. Hopefully you two can come to some sort of agreement." She really didn't want to become friends with any of the characters in Naruto, much less the main characters, but now, it didn't seem likely that she could avoid them.

Kakashi sent the hint of a smile her way, then disappeared around the corner again. Only this time, he didn't come back.

She turned her head towards the window and sighed. She didn't belong here. That's why it must have worked. That must have been the reason she could copy the kekkei genkai.

She came here from another world.

She was one of a kind.

She was alone.

Epsilon muddled around her in thoughts for a little while longer, before finally drifting into sleep.

-

Light poured through the window next to her making her squint her eyes as a reflex. She rolled over to face away from the sun and her eyes met with her ninja clothes folded, cleaned, and resting atop the side table next to her. A note was sitting on top. She snatched it so fast it was almost like her life depended on it. She unfolded the piece of parchment and read:

Your clothes were dirty and bloody so I thought I would launder them.

-Kakashi

She frowned. Kakashi didn't sign like that, nor was the handwriting the same. Something was wrong.

A nurse decided to walk in at that moment, and Epsilon quickly stuffed the note under her pillow. She would have to figure it out at a later time.

"Miss Zeta?" She questioned and the other girl nodded. "I've been told that you are free to go anytime now. Also that someone by the name of Kakashi is waiting for you."

Epsilon nodded and thanked the nurse before she left. The brunette then slid her feet out from under the covers and planted her feet firmly on the ground. When she stood up and caught a glance of her outfit, she wrinkled her nose in distaste. It was a white gown that reached just below her knees with buttons down the side. She quickly tore it off and re-dressed into her now normal outfit. She then dug the note from under her pillow and stuffed it in the inside pocket of her outfit with the other two notes that had miraculously survived the wash.

She was heading to the door when she spotted a mirror she hadn't noticed before. Her appearance was ragged and her hair was a bit messy, but she wasn't one to care about trivial things like that. She carefully unwrapped the bandage circling her head, and removed the piece around her eye. She dropped the wrappings into the nearby trash can and turned away from the mirror, but something caught her eye. She quickly whirled around and stared into reflective surface intently. She could have sworn she saw a flash of red that hadn't come from her slightly bloodied bandages. When there was no red to appear, she slowly turned away and headed out the door.

The common room of the hospital was crowded. Worried families and sleeping children lined the walls. Some were even standing because there weren't enough chairs. She wondered why there were so many people there. She then spotted Kakashi's white hair and casually strolled over to him. "Kakashi."

He glanced up from his Ichichi Paradise book. When he spotted her approaching, he closed his book and put it away in his weapon pouch. She nodded her head toward the open front doors and he nodded. As they left the building, the two fell into an uncomfortable silence. It seemed like both of them wanted to say something, but couldn't figure out how to say it. Kakashi finally broke the tension.

"I'm glad you wore your clothes that I had laundered. You have to go and do your ninja exam today. They postponed it a day so you could participate you know." He stole a quick side glance at her. "I talked with the Hokage," she tensed. "He said that you don't have to do the ninjutsu test, and that you'll have a special test for your ninja exam."

She nodded her head, not only letting the joinin know that he was heard, but to thank him and the Hokage. The mention of the clothes reminded her of something that she had made a mental note to do. "Kakashi," he nodded, silently telling her to continue, "I forgot to thank you for buying me this outfit in the first place."

He quirked an eyebrow. "What are you talking about? I never bought you anything."

She froze.

"Say that again."

He eyed her warily and stopped walking as well. "Zeta..."

'Think fast.' Epsilon resumed walking and waved her hand dismissively. "Never mind. Wrong person." He sighed, obviously not believing her, but not wanting to press the matter further. So he just trailed behind her as she headed toward the Academy.

A normal person would not have noticed that she was lying, but if someone saw the sweat glistening on her forehead and how she was always at least a few steps ahead of Kakashi, or the fact that she kept twisting her scarf in her hands, they would have known how scared she really was.

They walked the rest of the way to the Academy in silence. It was almost overbearing, and quite a few times she was tempted to break it, but her thoughts kept interfering. 'If Kakashi didn't buy me the outfit, then someone else saw me eyeing it, and they know where I live.' These facts unnerved the girl quite a lot. A person with unknown intentions knows where she lives, has seen what she does and could possibly be following her now, and is impersonating someone she met. What could possibly go wrong?

.

..

...

Dang it.

-

Kakashi had let Epsilon walk through the school front doors before disappearing going off to do who knows what. When she entered the class late once again, all eyes were on her. "I apologize for my tardiness Iruka." She began her ascent up the stairs and other kids snickered at her formal language.

Iruka gave her a small smile. "It's alright Zeta, just have a seat." Of course he knew that she had been in the hospital, he was there when she passed out. She just ignored the stares from the others as she sat in her seat next to the moody Uchiha. He nearly gave her a heart attack by nodding his head in greeting. It took a few second for her to realize what had happened before she nodded her head back.

He wasn't supposed to be friendly yet. She realized that she would have to do something that made him less friendly towards her. She would have to make him angry at her. An idea then popped into her head. It was perfect.

Slowly, as the tests began and ended, students disappeared one by one. Not in a bad way, just one by one to the testing room and then heading outside to meet their parents. Stop thinking evil people. (A/N Breaking the fourth wall everyday. It's a hobby of mine.)

Iruka had said something about the clone jutsu before the testing, but Epsilon already wasn't listening by that point. Only when Naruto exited did she notice that she was the last person in the room. She sighed. At least she wouldn't have to wait much longer.

After what seemed like eternity, a man opened the door and looked up at her. "Zeta."

She pushed herself from the desk and made her way over to the man. "That's my name don't wear it out." She had been waiting a long time to use that line.

The man just sighed and led her to another room farther into the building. He opened the door and there sat Iruka and her worst enemy. Iruka glanced up at her and smiled. "Mizuki." He turned to her enemy. "Would you mind leaving? She's a special case." Mizuki straightened out his ninja outfit and ran a hand through his silvery hair. It shifted oddly, giving him an almost evil look.

If you hate him so much, why not cut him down where he stands! Heh heh!

He stared at her intently but her face remained passive, even with the voice's comment. "Of course Iruka." He finally spoke. Since she still stood in the doorway, he had to pass her to get out. When he did, she sent him a burning murderous glare that would have melted him on the spot if it were real. His eyes widened in fear and he hurried off quicker than before. Iruka gave his retreating form a curious glance, since he had not seen her death glare.

He turned to her with a smile. "Shall we get started?" She nodded, walked in, and closed the door behind her. Now it was only her and Iruka left. "Alright then." He made a hand sign and her vision shimmered for a second, but disappeared as quickly as it had appeared so she brushed it off. He made another hand sign and three targets poofed into existence on the wall in the very back of the room above the layered desks. "I want you to hit those three targets," he held up a single kunai. "With this one kunai. No going up to pull it out." He tossed it to her and she cleanly caught it. "You figure out how."

She nodded confidently, but when she turned to the targets, that confidence crumbled. How was she supposed to do that? He was testing her for brains and resourcefulness. The previous night flashed in her head. String. That's all she needed.

She fished in her kunai pouch and pulled out some more string. Iruka raised his eyebrows at her while she worked. She tied the string around the loop of the kunai and fastened it tight. Now all she had to do was get three bullseyes in a row without any practice. Easy right?

Don't think about it much. Just do.

We'll help you aim.

No we're not going to help her!

Yes we will.

'Great.' She sighed. Now her head was in turmoil again. She let out a deep breath and gripped the kunai loosely. Despite that fact, her hand was stiff. She shook her hand to relieve the tension, and aimed.

She threw with deadly accuracy.

Epsilon swiftly pulled the kunai from the dead center of the target and threw it again. Another bullseye. She tugged it loose from the second target and threw it at the last one.

*Ka-thunk*

Right in the middle.

She yanked the string and the kunai came back. She untied the two and set the kunai on the teacher's desk. She looked up to meet his eyes and blinked a few times. He was gone. She looked down and there was a note for her. She picked it up and read it.

Your task is now to find me.

-Iruka

She set the note back on the desk, It was odd though. She hadn't heard him leave. No poof. No foot steps. Nothing at all.

She headed towards the sliding door and tried to open it. Locked. She glanced around the room looking for a way out. The spotted an window at least fifteen feet of the ground. She looked back the kunai sitting on the table. She snatched to from the table and reattached the string and threw it just above the window. She grabbed it firmly and gave it a tug to see if it would fall. It didn't, so she focused her energy onto the soles of her feet. There was just enough to have her feet stick to the ground, so she began to scale the wall. It was odd, the feeling was weird. It was like going up a roller coaster but at her own pace. She reached the window and poked her head through. All the kids were with their parents and friends, but something was off.

She spotted Naruto in the crowd, not where he was supposed to be. He was picking a fight with Sasuke and some of the emo's fangirls were cheering him on. That wasn't supposed to be happening. Then she panicked. Had she really changed the plot line that much? She thought about it for a few seconds before her eyes widened in realization.

There was nothing that she had done to change this part of the plot line. She remembered the shimmer of the first jutsu that Iruka had used before creating the targets. She also remembered that Iruka was present when she was tested on taijutsu. Since she had no chakra, it was assumed that she couldn't perform any jutsu. Therefore the only one left, was genjutsu.

Epsilon released the chakra in her feet and landing on the ground in a crouch. She placed her hands in a certain way and focused her energy into her hands. "Release." The energy in her hands was expelled and the illusion dissolved.

She looked to the teacher's desk and there sat Iruka with a pleased look on his face.

"Found you."

-

Epsilon walked out of the school with her ninja headband stuffed in her secret pocket. Everyone was being congratulated on graduating, but she didn't really care. Most of them were just faces anyways. She gazed around and spotted Naruto sitting depressed on the swing, right where he was supposed to be. She started towards him but another person's conversation caught her attention.

"There, you see him." A female spoke to another.

"It's that boy." The other girl responded. "I heard the he's the only one who failed."

"Hmph." The first girl turned away. "Serves him right."

"Just imagine what would happen if he became a ninja." Epsilon didn't know if Naruto could hear them, but at that moment he pulled his goggles over his eyes. "I mean, he's the boy who--"

"Sh!" The first female chided the other. "We're not allowed to talk about that."

That did it.

Can we kill them?

That would be wonderful!

Fresh blood!

Epsilon brushed them off and focused on the task at hand. The two girls. She remembered this part in the manga and anime. She wanted to punch the daylights out of these two, but she refrained from making a scene. Instead, she casually strode over to the two and mustered the most evil glare yet. They both caught her gaze and froze immediately. "I wouldn't talk like I know him if I were you. He's been through far worse than you can imagine because of your anger and hurtful words. He hasn't done anything to warrant your hate." She narrowed her eyes dangerously. "I suggest you never speak about him like that ever again." That's when they ran off.

Why couldn't we kill them both?

Yeah. My other half is getting so much bloodlust already, I would love to have some all for myself.

'Other half?' She would have to think on it later. Luckily for her, the voices were gone again.

She sighed and allowed her face to relax. That had felt really good to finally put the girls in their place. She glanced back over to Naruto, seeing that Mizuki hadn't arrived yet. 'Good.' She made her way towards him, and when she was right next to him, he looked up. She said nothing, but ruffled his hair reassuringly. "You'll get your chance to become a ninja. Just don't miss it when is comes."

His eyes glinted with just the tiniest bit of hope. Her lips slowly crept up into a small smile. He probably didn't have any other kids that were nice to him, so it must have been different for a change. She patted him on the shoulder and walked away. Women always have eyes on the back of their head, so she could tell that he was still staring at her as she left.

When she was out of sight, she peeked around a corner and saw that Mizuki was already there talking to him. Right on time. Less than a minute later, the two were gone.

That was the easy part. The hard part came next.
