-Derek has HUGE daddy issues.

-One of the reasons he wanted to be a Reality show host was to basically impress his dad, who neglected him.

-Derek used to get harassed by multiple Total Drama haters inside and outside his school due to his association with his dad.

-He wanted to be a normal reality show host and follow his dream like Trevor, But after getting harassed multiple times, He decided "Fuck it" and decided to be like his dad.

-He didn't have many friends in high school due to being bullied. (And Trevor was the only one who loved him.)

-When he and Trevor got arrested, He got worried that Trevor hated him for dragging him down the mess and didn't tell him.

-He developed trust issues with people due to his past, and never told anyone about it.

-When he found out that He and Kristal were half-siblings... He broke down crying.

-Whenever he feels sad, He would hug Trevor's duck plushies for comfort.

-He's afraid of losing Trevor, and is afraid of being like his dad after what happened.
