-Matthew doesn't have a good homelife due to his parents.

-Both his parents were abusive, and his brother Monty is the only one who protected him.

-Monty went to jail when Matthew was 16, where he protected him from his abusive dad who tried to throw an alchohol bottle at him after work.

-Back then, Monty sometimes would like to invite him to play soccer when they were still dealing with their abusive family issues. (It's also the time where he started to play soccer.)
