"So how did it go?" Bella's voice crackled over the phone. Holding it up to his ear using only his shoulder to prop the phone up, Jack nodded his head and answered, "Emergency has been dealt with. Nothing too major for me. I'm now just grabbing some things from my office and I will be home soon."

"Okay, don't be too long. You and I have a Golden Dog marathon to watch tonight," Bella reminded him. Laughing, Jack replied, "Of course. Don't worry, I wouldn't miss it for the world darling. Do you want me to stop by the store on my way home?" Bella responded, "Ice cream. The good flavors too."

"Okay, I'll see what I can find. I love you honey," Jack stated. Bella replied, "I love you too. See you soon." And then that was the end of the phone call. Stowing his flip phone away in his coat pocket, the basset hound grabbed some folders he had dug out of his desk. Putting them in his bag, he grabbed his hat and turned to head out the door when the nurse from earlier came in. "Oh, I'm sorry sir," the cat with a broken tail meowed, "Is this a bad time?"

"It's alright, just grabbing my things. Is there a patient?" Jack asked, slinging his bag over his shoulder. Biting her lip, the nurse glanced outside the door frame. Looking back, she admitted, "I'm not sure." Frowning, the basset hound demanded, "What is it this time?"

"It's Marty," the nurse finally blurted out. Growling under his breath, Jack grumbled, "Oh god not again. What does he want now?" The feline was about to answer the question when she was gently pushed aside by a pitbull in a police officer's outfit. Glaring at the larger canine, Jack barked, "What the heck do you want this time Marty?!"

"Jack," Marty spoke softly, taking off his hat, "We need you."
