Warning: a particular scene from Episode 2 of the Future Arc of DR3 will be spoiled below. Don't read if you don't want to be spoiled.

Okay, so I know this is a book where I discuss ships between characters, and talk about characters in general, but I feel the need to rant here.

What. The. Fuck. Kodada?

Why would you choose her of all of the survivors to kill off? Was it for shock value? Was it just to fuck with the fans? Because, it really feels like the latter.

Aoi Asahina deserved a lot better, and honestly, I'm pissed she never got it.

DR1:
Friends and girlfriend die, she almost sacrifices everyone for revenge. She survives.

DR: Despair Girls:
Her brother literally explodes.

DR3: She gets stabbed in the chest when she's beside of Naegi. Okay. But, why?

Bandai had already died in that episode. There was no need to kill off a fan favorite, for shock value or as just a "fuck you" to the fans.

Honestly, I could understand them wanting to show nobody is safe, but really, Naegi isn't gonna die. He's got plot armor. Kirigiri might die in the end, but I doubt it. Hagakure made it this far via dumb luck. Togami and Fukawa aren't even present.

Aoi was actually the only character who really ran a risk of dying, and even then, I doubted it.

She can be compared to Fuyuhiko in SDR2. Peko/Sakura sacrificed themselves for Asahina/Fuyuhiko. Because of this, the creators didn't want the later two to die because the sacrifices would be in vain.

What happened to that?

Honestly, she was the only remaining character who I really cared about. And now, she's dead.

DR3: Future reeaaaally fucked up.
