the beginning

dorthea had always been in the foster system. It was all she knew. she had been so used to moving, that she never really tried to make any friends, that was until she moved to boston, Massachusetts. 

for some reason it felt different with her foster family, the gomez's. she finally felt like she belonged and that they loved her for her and didnt see her as some stray. she was finally able to make friends who she believed would always be there for her, through thick and thin. 

all of this was until maria gomez, her foster mother, had to tell dorthea that she and her husband couldn't get approved for adoption. meaning she would have to go and live somewhere else that was eligible.

dorthea decided that it would be best for her to just leave, without goodbyes, which were always the hardest when you grow to love someone.

from the moment she left massachusetts, she never looked back. once she was 18, and aged out of the system, dorthea changed her name and was now known as the beautiful and amazing actress and singer, thea baker.

this day

thea was sitting at her vanity, trying to choose which lipgoss she wanted to wear for her best friend, madison beer's album release party. 

"personally I think you should use the cherry tinted lipgloss." the jumped, not realizing someone had walked into her room. 

"god damn madison, you scared the fuck out of me." madison laughs as she sits on the girls bed. "I saw that you were deep in thought over lipgloss, so I thought I would help." the rolls her eyes at her friend as she puts the gloss on her rosey lips. 

"you excited mads?" she askes. madison shrugs her shoulders. "you know social settings aren't really my thing...but at least you'll be there with me." she smiles at thea and  walked over to her. 

"thank you for supporting me for all these years thea, it means so much," she said as she wrapped her arms around thea's shoulders.

thea looks at madison through the vanity mirror.. "you were there for me in my darkest time mads, of course, I'm gonna be here for you no matter what." she smiles at her and reaches up to touch her arm thea's wrapped around her shoulders. "okay, don't make me cry. I just did my makeup."

madison laughs and lets go of her friend. "I'm gonna go wait in the car, you have 5 minutes!" she yells out to thea as she walks away.

thea smiles to herself and begins to pack her emergency makeup bag, perfume, and her lipgloss, and heads to the driver seat of the car.

thea and madison arrived at the party, fashionably late, of course.

"you ready chika?" thea turns to madison. madison lets out a sigh, then takes a deep breath. "as ready as ill ever be." she says with a smile before reaching for the door handle and gets out.

thea follows closely behind her as the two tried to dodge the paparazzi. Even though it was close to 12 am now, the paparazzi still insisted on getting answers from either both or one of the girls.

"madison!! Is the song "ryder" about your brother?"

"who inspired your work?"

"are you girls excited for tonight?"

"madison, are you and thea dating? you know, since you recently came out?"

the last question ignited something in thea. 

thea turned toward the voice and madison followed the motion, wanting to see how this was going to play out.

"listen..." thea looked at his little name tag that was pinned to his ugly striped shirt. " david, just because she came out about her sexuality doesn't mean that shes dating anyone right now, so how about you leave her alone seeing as though she is already nervous about her album that is being released in exactly... seven minutes."

thea grabs madison and turns back toward the door to where the party was being held, then she turns back one more time.

"also, just to clear it up, we are not dating"

thea and madison walk into the party giggling to each other.
