(chapter opens up with Whis walking around the fields of Beerus's planet)

Whis: Lord Vegeta! It's time to go to work!

Voice Off- Panel: Alright, alright! I'm here! (Whis turns to see Vegeta in a God of Destruction outfit) I've been God of Destruction of this universe for 18 years and have yet to destroy a planet. (walks to Whis) What's the point of checking on planets if they're all developing well? 

Whis: (shakes his head) We must ensure that the planets have developed to Lord Zeno's standards. If not, then it'll be like the Tournament of Power again. 

(suddenly Goku appears out through instant transmission)

Goku: Hey Whis! Can I spar with you?

Whis: (shakes his head "no") Sadly not. Lord Vegeta and I must do our monthly rounds on all the planets with life. 

Goku: (looks at Vegeta and chuckles) I can't believe that you agreed to be a God of Destruction in exchange for training from Whis way back then. 

Vegeta: (angered) Watch your mouth, Kakarot! Under the cosmic law, I have the right to erase you if I so feel!

Voice off-panel: Leave him be, Vegeta. (shows Beerus walking towards them with his hands behind his back) I'll spar with him for the time being. 

Goku: (kinda bummed out) Awww... But it won't be as fun cause I've surpassed you...

Beerus: (angered) WHY YOU!? I TRAINED SINCE THE LAST TIME WE FOUGHT!! (closes up on him screaming Goku's face) FIGHT ME!!

Goku: (comically scared) I'm sorry, Beerus, but it wouldn't be a fair fight anymore. Even now, I can sense you're weaker than me!

Beerus: (flustered, looks away)

Whis: I'll spar with you after Vegeta and I get back. Until then, you can talk with Beerus. (he taps his staff to the ground and they fly off) 

Beerus: (stares angrily at Goku) What are you really here for, Son Goku? 

Goku: (walks passed Beerus) It's just that, I've become one of the strongest beings in history, but there's still a realm of power above what I've ever reached in the landscape of the angels. 

Beerus: (begins to walk with Goku) I see. Why do you wish to reach the level of the angels?

Goku: (chuckles a bit) It's cause I'm afraid, Beerus. I'm afraid that the minute I lose a fight, I'll never be able to protect the ones I love...

Beerus: (smiles) I see... Continue.

Goku: (thinks back to Grandpa Gohan) When I was originally sent to Earth, I was raised by an old man named, Gohan. He raised me as if I were his own grandson... He was the only other person I knew until I turned into an Oozaru and killed him... (tears up) From the age of 5 to 12, I was on my own until I met Bulma. (flashback to the first meeting between Goku and Bulma) I remember how alone I felt before that... The nights I spent crying because I had no one to turn to. It's a life that I don't want to return. That's why I wish to become stronger. 

Beerus: (as Goku wipes his tears) That's a very respectable reason. However... (Goku looks at Beerus) There's nothing to be worried about when it comes to your world. Your sons are immensely powerful let alone your allies. Earth is your home, and I understand wanting to protect it. (puts his hand on Goku's shoulder) You must realize, Son Goku. Earth is in good hands. Even I'll be there to protect Earth from whoever wishes to attack as I too have gained a fondness to Earth. 

Goku: (smiles at Beerus) Thanks, Beerus. That means a lot. (thinks) Earth is in good hands. My family is in good hands... But why... Why don't I believe it's safe...

(suddenly Whis and Vegeta return together; Vegeta is very annoyed)

Goku: (startled) That was fast! 

Whis: (laughs) Vegeta is much faster than Beerus was, so we were able to hit ever planet we needed to check on for this month in less than 15 minutes! (looks at Goku) So, do you want that sparring match?

Goku: (looks at Beerus who smiles at him; he shakes his head "no") No, thank you, Whis. There are still some things that I want to work out before I can think about fighting again. 

Whis: (nods) Understood! I'm always here if you need something!

Goku: (puts his fingers to his head for instant transmission) Thank you! I'll be back soon! (he teleports away; appears in front of Capsule Corp.; thinks) Maybe Bulma can help me...
