"So...spill it. How did the date go yesterday?" Dolores asked. "Did he rock your world last night?"

"Dolores," Dani whispered, looking around to make sure no one was listening. "First of all, people don't say 'rock your world' anymore and second...that's really not something you should be asking me."

"Why not? It's not like I don't know anything about the birds and the bees, honey. Besides, let a lady live a little vicariously through you. That man is yummy," Dolores patted her gray hair as she bumped her hip against Dani's.

Dani shook her head as she watched the older woman walk out of the kitchen and into the main dining area where the customers were, "I'll never understand how that woman is so...so..."

"Horny?" Donovan suggested.

Dani stared at him aghast and they both started laughing.

"She took some getting used to that's for sure," Donovan said.

"Well...she's got the mouth of a sailor but a heart full of gold. Once you ignore the heavy flirting, Dolores is a total sweetheart."

"It wasn't her words that bothered me," Donovan laughed.

"It wasn't?"

The cook shook his head as he flipped a burger, "No. It was all the butt-pinching."

Dani laughed, "Stop lying. She wouldn't do that."

"Yeah, I'm just kidding. Dolores is a cool lady. She tells you how it is," Donovan agreed. "She's a little pervy but that's what makes it funny. You wouldn't expect it by looking at her." Donovan flipped another patty while throwing some fries in a vat of boiling grease. A spray of grease flew into the air, slightly catching his right hand. "Crap!"

"Are you okay?" Dani asked, stepping forward.

"Uh...yeah I'm fine. The grease got me a bit that's all."

"Shouldn't you put something on it? What if it blisters?" Dani asked, looking at his inner wrist which was quickly getting pinker by the second.

"I'll get the first aid-kit," Donovan pulled out a blue plastic box which had a red and white cross on it. "I'm sure there's some kind of cream in here. Can you get it out while I finish this ticket?"

Dani nodded as he finished an order and pulled out the cream and some gauze to cover up the burn. She didn't know anything about first aid. Were burns supposed to be wrapped up or were they supposed to breathe?

After he was done, Donovan held out his arm, "If you don't mind..."

She looked blankly from him to the burn and gulped, "Did you want me to put the cream on it for you?"

Donovan's cheeks turned a light shade of pink, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked."

Dani felt awkward, "I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to embarrass you."

She handed him the cream, careful not to touch his fingertips. She couldn't tell him that she wasn't willing to put the cream on his wrist because that meant touching his skin which could lead to her seeing his nightmares. She'd sound absolutely crazy.

"No...it's not a problem. I shouldn't have assumed. I mean- just forget it," he turned around, ignoring the gauze and leaning over the sink to wash his hands.

"I'm sorry Donovan."

"It's okay. I didn't really expect you to put the cream on my arm."

Dani didn't respond. She knew he was lying. She could tell by his voice.

"I know you like that detective guy," Donovan said lightly.

"Jax? What does that-" she stopped speaking, her silence saying more than her words could have.

"Well, he sounds like a great guy and Dolores is always raving about him. Do you have another date with him tonight?"

Dani nodded but he didn't see.

"I bet you had a great time with him last night. Did he take you to some fancy restaurant or something? Dolores said he's rich even though he's just a detective."

"We did go to a restaurant."

"Yeah, a guy like me wouldn't stand a chance against a guy like him. Anyway, I'll get to cooking these orders. You should really get back out there before Oliver sees you."

Dani didn't know what to say to Donovan. He was a nice guy and she considered him a friend, "Don't compare yourself to other people, Donovan. A date doesn't have to be at a fancy restaurant to be special. Sometimes it can turn out terrible. Do you know what really happened on our date? The date that Dolores is so eager to get news on? A group of men came in and robbed the place. We were there for hours having to give statements. One of the men even pulled me by the hair."

"Are you okay?" Donovan asked, worry in his blue eyes.

Dani shrugged, "I'm fine. I mean...I'm here aren't I?"

Donovan nodded, "Did your detective save you?"

Dani laughed while shaking her head, "No. I actually saved myself. Listen, I like you as a friend Donovan...but just as a friend. I hope you can feel the same."

Donovan gave a rueful smile before nodding, "Well I don't really have a choice when the other half is putting me in the friend-zone but I'll try. You do realize you're going to have to introduce me to another girl, right? Set me up with a hot date."

Dani giggled, "I know just the woman for you."

"You do?" Donovan asked, surprised. "Is she pretty?"

"Gorgeous and a great personality too," Dani said.

"Sounds great. What's her name?" Donovan asked.

Dani picked up the plates of food Donovan had just made and smiled, "Dolores."

The police station was a hub of activity as Jax and Roberto discussed the night prior.

"You meeting with Dani again tonight?" Roberto asked Jax who was chewing on a straw. "She still wants to date you even after last night?"

Jax rolled his eyes, "Last night was a nightmare."

"How's she doing?"

Jax frowned, releasing the plastic straw to his frozen coffee, "She said she's fine but I'm sure she's upset. That was our first date. Women remember these things, right?"

Roberto chuckled, "I would guess so. At least she's still willing to keep seeing you."

"Yeah. Those guys from last night still haven't talked?" Jax was clearly distracted as he stared at an officer handcuffing a criminal to a chair.

"Not yet. Why?"

"One of them said they knew someone who knew me. Isn't that strange?"

Roberto leaned forward, his palms resting on Jax's desk, "Didn't you bust a crazy wolf member a while back?"

Jax nodded, "That was months ago. Besides, he was on the outs with them for stealing a necklace and keeping it to himself."

"You don't think it could have a connection? They're both from the same gang. I'd check it out."

"You're right. I'll go talk to the officer in charge of the gang unit. Maybe they'll let me in on the interrogation or something."

"Nah. I doubt that since you were involved. Maybe they'll let you watch. Doesn't hurt to ask," Roberto reminded him as he pulled out his phone and dialed a number, "Hey love of my life. What are you doing? Nothing, I just thought I'd call you since it's lunch time. Do you still have rehearsals for your show tonight?" Roberto sighed, "Fine. I'll wait for you at home. I'll pick up some Chinese so don't be late. Uh huh. I love you too. Bye."

"Chinese food? So romantic," Jax said sarcastically.

"This is coming from the guy who asked his girlfriend to come over and watch Netflix?"

"How did you know?" Jax's eyes widened. "Did you look through my phone again? Dammit Montoya, I told you not to do that anymore."

"It's not my fault you didn't make your password something difficult. Anyone would guess it's 9754."

"They're totally random numbers! How could anyone guess that?"

Roberto made a show of looking at his watch, "Well it's that time."

"What time?"

"Time for me to go. Hurry and talk to the detective in charge and I'll see if I can find any info on...what was the name of the guy you busted before?" Roberto asked.

"Eddie. Eddie Vasquez."

"Right. I'll see if I can find any info on him. Catch you later," Roberto waved his hand in the air as he walked towards the records room.

Jax made his way to where the men from last night were being held. He heard the police officers telling one of the men to be quiet as he cursed at them. Jax immediately recognized the man that had attacked Dani last night. He felt his fists tighten as a scowl etched itself across his face.

"Well, well, well. Looks like this cabrón came looking for me."

Jax nodded at the officer in charge and stared at the gang member he had come to see, "You said we had a mutual friend. Who is it?"

The gang member smirked, "I was wondering how long it would take you to ask. You must've had a hard time sleeping last night just thinking about it, huh?"

"Answer me," Jax demanded.

"I never called him a friend," the gang member said.

"Who is it?" Jax asked, his hands on the bars that separated him from the gang member.

"Detective Michaels," the other officer stepped forward. "This isn't the time."

"No, it's the perfect time. This guy came after me in a restaurant and says he knows someone that knows me. We all know you're from Los Lobos Locos, so spit it out. Who do you know that has an interest in me?"

"You don't want to know," the gang member hissed. "I'm telling you this for your own good, cabrón. You and your girlfriend better run and hide. He's not one you wanna mess with."

"How can I get to him?

The gang member laughed, "You don't need to worry about that."

"Why not?" Jax asked, as he held up a hand telling the other detective to give him one more minute.

The gang member looked Jax straight in the eye and answered, "Because he's death. He'll get to you first."
