I was raised by a cat and a dog.
I was taught to love closeness and distance
in equal measure.
I am quick to trust and quick to forgive and quick to anger and quick to run.
Love is for anyone who gives me so much as a passing glance, a scratch on the chin, but
loyalty
is for the people who allow me to curl up in the sunbeams of their hearts and then vanish down the hall
and who have faith that I will meander back.
I am glad to see you wherever it happens.
I waited by the door all day. All I think of is you.
