I was aesthetic.  She had agreed to the yogurt. Wait, she does not know it is a date. I sighed.

I bought her some flowers. She deserves them and way more. I smile when I see her. I blushed because of how attractive she was. Today, she wore a green dress, a light green jacket, and green ballet flats. Her hair was pulled back in green hair clips. She wore the necklace as usual.

I gave her the flowers once I entered the yogurt shop. I could tell she was pleased. She set them on the table and pulled me by the collar. Before I could say a word, She kissed the corner of my lips. I stood there look a fool smiling at her. She sat and I ordered our usual yogurts. This time I asked the man at the shop to add a cherry on top of hers and cool whip. I offered to pay extra if he spelled out a message for her in the cool whip from me. I paid for the yogurts and winked at her when I sat across from her.

I handed her the strawberry swirl. I saw her confusion when she read the message. I laughed. Man, is she cute or what?  "Nathan, are you serious?" She asked."Yes, I am serious about you," I said. I waited for an answer. Would she reject me again?  I saw her shrug her shoulders as she ate the food. I sighed. Was it too sudden to expect an answer from her?

I ate mine and she ate hers. Afterward, I took her to the park. We sat on the same bench as before.  She looked at me and smiled. I smiled back.  She held my hand. I did not snatch it away because I  knew her answer then. At least, I thought I did. But how could I  be sure?

Later at home, she was silent all through dinner. She went to her room. I heard her humming and saw her dancing when she thought no one knew. Cute, I thought. I pulled out a pen and paper to give her another note.

    Dear Emma,

I saw you dance in tune to a song as you hummed the words. I thought of how cute you looked in that moment. Why can't you give me an answer?  Are you afraid? So am I. Love, Nathan.

After I finished it I placed it outside the door to her room. Then, I went back to my room. That night I dreamed over her, of Emma, the girl I loved and her being my girl.

Time skip!

Two months later, I had taken Emma out to yogurt every Friday night for the last few months. I had not asked her again since I was humiliated the first time. I still loved her.

Some might say I was better off finding a different girl. They don't know and they don't know her. They only say such things because they think they can help me, but they can't.

Today is Friday again, and it is our night. Yogurt night. I  look forward to this day and I sense she does too. I saw school earlier today she had on an orange shirt and denim shorts. I did not like the looks the boys gave her.  Tonight, she wore a pink dress, pink sandals, the same necklace as usual, hoop earrings, and pink hair clips. She also wore a little makeup too.

This time at the yogurt place, Emma stopped me, before I could order. She ordered it and paid for it too. I was stunned, but I still poured out a chair for her, she took it and sat across from her. The two of us talked, laughed, and enjoyed our frozen yogurts.

A  lady walked past, "Take care of your girlfriend, she is very taken with you."

A man told me, "She is a pretty one. Take care of her or I am sure someone else will."

Another couple of customers commented," Take care of your girl, she is into you."

After our yogurt date, I took her to the museum. We looked around, then went outside. She was thrilled when she saw some roses growing in their bushes. I  watched her break down when she thought no one looked. She sat on a bench. She did not look up when I took the seat next to hers.  "Emma, are you okay?" I asked. I put a hand on her shoulder. She looked up and I could see she had been crying. "Emma, Emma?"

"N-Nathan, take me home, please," Emma said. I did as she asked.  I was not sure yet why she wasn't happy. What has gone wrong? I took her to the studio-library area. I lay her on the sofa and started to walk away. "S-stay please, sugar bear until I fall asleep," Emma said. I cuddled with her and kissed her cheek. Emma kissed my lips. I  felt tears form in my eyes. I kissed her. I did not want it to end. Even if it meant nothing to her, it meant everything to me.

"E-Emma?" I whispered. I looked away. I could not bear to see the look of pity she held for me. I was sure that's what the kiss was for one out of pity. Why else would she do it? She only sees me the same as her best friend.

Emma wrapped her arms around me. She soon fell asleep that way.  I did not tell her I wished to make her my wife. How could I? She had not even called me boyfriend yet?  I  fell asleep in her arms.

Saturday, I blushed when I saw she still held me. I got up carefully so as not to wake up. I made breakfast, and she came. I watched as she ate eggs, toast, bacon, and fruit, and drank water, tea, and juice. I had the same breakfast.  The two of us sat on the patio together.

I gave her a rose and a note. I got up and kissed her cheek.

Emma read the note and I saw her cry. Was it because of me? I had sent a letter to her parents. I had to. I could not let them worry about her any longer.

"Nathan, what if they want me to go with them?" She asked. "You will have to decide for yourself," I said. I did not say another word about it and neither did she.
