How did someone come up with the idea of showers? We know baths came first, so was someone just like "you know, it would be easier if the water came pouring down from up there." Or was someone standing outside in the rain and thought "This could be a lot easier than a bath, if the water poured from up there like rain." And essentially this is the same thought, just brought on my different stimuli. But then, depending on which one actually happened, showers might have been made slightly differently. Just because of a slightly different stimulus.

Huh I didn't mean for that to get so long and scientific...
