So you don't like a new character that has been added to a movie franchise you like? Okay okay, that's cool, because that character is only fictional and you're allowed to have your own opinions.

So what do you do when you don't like this character? I sure hope your answer is "nothing", because once again, that character is fictional and has done nothing to hurt you and at the end of the day, does it even really matter? Just move on with your life and focus on what you do like about the movies.

If your answer is "harass the actor who plays that character on social media, send constant hate comments and messages to them, and make life so miserable for them on that site that they quit", go sit in the corner. And send flowers to the poor soul who you hatefully harassed.

Actors 👏 are 👏 not 👏 their 👏 characters 👏 they 👏 are 👏 not 👏 the 👏 same 👏 person

And even if they were the same person, harassment and bullying is still not cool. What do you even think you're accomplishing with your hate messages? You think that your comment of "[character name] is the [censored] worst and so are you kill yourself" will cause the actor to be hit with an epiphany of "oh my word I can't believe I didn't realize that before they were right my character and myself are horrible people so let me just call up the producers and tell them to kill my character off within the first two minutes of the next movie so that we can once again achieve world peace"??

Fun fact: that will not, in fact, ever happen. Stop fooling yourself and admit that you were bullying someone.

Hate messages only do two things: make the actor (who happens to be a real human being. Surprise!) feel terrible and out yourself to be inconsiderate and hateful. No one deserves to be bullied like that. It's okay to not like a character. It's not okay to actively send hate towards an actor because they play a character you don't like.

So dear Star Wars fandom,

To quote Mark Hamill...
