I'll most likely dump all of my creative writing class assignments in here eventually, but for now, here's a short little drabble we had for our first assignment where we had ten minutes to write whatever comes to mind after listening to the first song that came on our shuffle. My song was "Sad Sad City" by Ghostland Observatory.

The bass echoed in her ears, drowning out the chaos erupting around Georgiana and the piercing feeling edging in on her heart.

Neon lights gleamed in the dark room as strangers bounced in unison to the beat of the music, mumbling through the verses like a hoard of zombies before screaming the chorus at the top of their lungs. They would always return back to the mumbling though. The terrible mixture of sweat and perfumes was inescapable, no matter where Georgiana turned.

She fought through the swarm, doing her best to excuse herself to every wild-eyed person she was forced to nudge out of her, but seeing as she couldn't even hear herself, Georgiana doubted that her apologizes made a difference.

She finally made her way to the wall, seperate from the crowd. Georgiana let out a breathe she didn't know that she was holding, then stumbled over to the closest window.

The glass froze her fingers when they touched it, but Georgiana still pressed herself up against it, squinting her eyes to see into the abyss of darkness outside of glitzy wonderland inside. She spotted a pair of shining lights out in the parking lot, and the panic in her chest picked up in double time.

Georgiana's legs started moving without hesitation, and she soon found herself out the doors and across the icy parking lot, the night air feeling all too hot on her skin. The music was somehow just as loud outside as it was inside, demanding the attention of anyone who could hear, but Georgiana resisted against it.

In the midst of the maze of vehicles, one motorcycle's headlights shone through the cold mist, and its rider seemed as if he was about to hop on it and drive back into their sad city when Georgiana slid in before him, grabbing and gripping tight to the handlebars in an attempt to force both of them to stop.

The headlights glared up in her eyes, but Georgiana held a hand out to cover up the worst of the beam, refusing to tear her gaze away from her cousin. Triston couldn't look at her in the eyes.

"Let me go, Georgie," he pleaded, his voice barely audible over the thunderous music.

"Why did you tell me?" Georgiana said. Triston flinched, but didn't respond, so she raised her voice. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to."

Georgiana wanted to laugh in his face. She wanted to break down and sob in his arms. She wanted to lash out against him and make him hurt as much as she was. There was so much she wanted to do right in that moment, but all Georgiana could do was dig her nails into the motorcycle handlebars.

"Why?" Georgiana demanded, red hot tears tickling the corners of her eyes. "Why didn't you want to tell me? Why didn't you want me?"

Triston's arm moved as if he was about to wipe her tears away, but then it dropped back down to his side. He sighed, his breath visible in the freezing air. "Let me go, Georgie."

Georgiana didn't move for a moment, but then she scoffed, let go, and stepped out of the move. Triston sat down on the motorcycle and revved it.

"You're despicable," she spat. "And I hate you."

Triston sighed. "That makes two of us, kid."

Georgiana watched as he sped away and down the highway, back towards the blue city. The song ended as he did and another one began. Georgiana furiously screamed into the void of the sky as the crowd inside roared in approval.
