Like any story, it all began with an awakening. Two eyes slowly opening, like a butterfly whose wings finally prepared for flight after breaking out of their chrysalis. The small, green eyes belonged to a young girl. Whose eyes, after opening squinted, adjusting to the sun's bright radiant light.

After finally getting comfortable in the environment, she got up, using her hands to stick to her knees to assist her. Scanning her surroundings, she had no recollection of what happened previously to create this effect. But she noticed she had back pain. Maybe it was on the grassy ground. Typical.

'Where am I?' Was her first thought. Followed by: What happened yesterday? Where's mommy, daddy? Is this a dream? All that strode around her mind were questions, all linking to each other. Nothing like, 'What a beautiful morning'. All questions.

Knowing she would spend all day asking instead of answering, she began to roam around. She woke up in a forest, painted with various shades of blue, green, and brown. The same colors any spot on earth would own. But in this forest, it seemed more magical, and divine.

The forest seemed like a haven, filled with melody. The frogs, the minuscule insects, the magnificent rush of the water. It relaxed the confused little girl. She was probably only eleven years old, the claim was uncertain due to if she was eleven, she appeared to be slightly taller than kids her age, maybe by an inch or two.

But the real facts were, that she had brown, wavy, shoulder-length hair. As well as jade green eyes. She was clad in a blue dress, with a black little ribbon tied around the blue collar. In addition were both chocolate brown knee length boots and a color matching purse that hanged across her body, the strap in a diagonal line.

Her weak legs ventured through the forest, trying to find a building of some sort. Maybe through the land, she would find a quaint and humble village, with a nice resident that would allow her to join the household. After what seemed like a couple of hours, she paused her journey. A strong aroma flew right past her nose, she turned her head to the left, the direction where the scent came from as she began to follow in a straight path. A couple of trees made her zig-zag on her path though.

The scent grew stronger and stronger. She could tell she was close. Until she paused, examining her current location. Right in front if she was a wooden cottage. It seemed just like the ones in the stories, two-story, logs, brown, a small porch with a rocking chair in front. A balcony on the front of the second floor. She couldn't see through the windows though. The windows were like tinted car windows. Dark and you really had to have good vision and squint your eyes hard enough to see through.

But even if she had extreme exceeding excellence in her vision, and squinted roughly, to her dismay, she couldn't see through it. Many people would have a garage to store their car in, or just leave their car in front, or to the side of their home. This cottage had neither. Maybe the homeowners were out. So she bent down, starring at the strong scenting flowers.

Blue Irises. It was possibly sometime around April since they were all in bloom. The garden did not just own Blue Irises in their front yard garden. It was also the home that had Lilies, Carnations, Daisies, Cherry Jubilees, and other greatly gorgeous greenery.

Gently, she ripped an Iris from its roots, then shot her head up. The homeowner wasn't noticing. Then, she angled her body over to the next flower and departed it from its firm placement on the ground. She could now see something on the other side of the window unnoticeable before. But it was possibly her usual worried self-imagining such illusive figures.

Three should be enough, the child told themselves as they were inching their arm closer to the third flower. There was no reason on why she even wanted to keep the flowers. Though, not everything people keep has to be useful. To her surprise (except a fragment of her brain), the front door of the cottage slammed open.

Behind the door was an agitated woman, with blonde waist length hair, and sapphire blue eyes, she also wore a pastel purple long sleeved shirt with a black collar on the top, almost with a sweater feel, a black skirt, and matching lilac flats, with a black bow on the top, and with a plain black headband.

"Who are you?" In the beginning, the tone of the young woman's voice was soft but slowly escalated in an irritated tone. The little child remained silent. "Did you hear me?" The lady shouted. "Y-Yes ma'am!" The girl croaked, followed by her clearing her throat. "Go away." The older woman growled. "I cant!" She complained. "Why not?" The adult closed the door, now in front of the child as she climbed down the stairs that led to her wooden porch. "This may seem like a lie, but I woke up nearby. I don't remember anything from before." The other woman scoffed, but she froze.

As if she changed her personality on the spot, she gave off a content expression. "Your name?" "I can't remember." The adult raised an eyebrow, then glancing over at the flower the little girl chose. "I'm Yukari Tanaka, do you wish to be named Iris?" Iris. For the little girl, it had a mythical ring to it. Something from fairy tales.

Iris beamed, "Why not?". "That settled quickly.", Yukari admitted, standing in the still opened front door, she gave a hand motion to Iris, signaling her to walk inside. "So, do you have parents?" "I'm not sure." She was in a book, of course, her parents might be dead, its main character 101. The author probably planned something similar. I dunno, I'm a narrator, ask her yourself. Yukari strode over to a closet and pulling out a conveniently existing green sleeping bag. Then walked back as she placed it on top of her cream white three seat couch.

"Sorry, I'll purchase a little mattress for you tomorrow. It's too late for me to go out now, I live far from any public area like a store and such so I can't really go out at the moment." "Ah, don't worry! I'm fine with anything. Even if there's no sleeping bag." Yukari smiled, "Nice to know.". Not knowing what would happen, Yukari stared at Iris straight in the eye, with her plastered on soft smile. "Go and look around. Except for my bedroom, since it's personal in there." Yukari commanded, stating her first rule. But she was quite forgetful about the basement, and trouble was brewing.
