(this was 3 days late so I did the bare minimum... I got an 8.5 tho)

What has come of our current society, why do our hubris get in the way of the greater good of the nation? In short it is because of our need to be on top and the most powerful. John D. Rockefeller is a good example of my claim, he values the sales of his oil over the harm it causes to his workers and the citizens of the United States. Although the most uncaring of his employers and the well being of America, is Cornelius Vanderbilt. Both of these tyrants of industry are drunk with power.

While doing research for this article I interviewed an employee of Vanderbilt. He preferred to remain anonymous but has given me an inside view of how it is to work for such a man. He has said, "The work for Vanderbilt is hard and cruel, I've known many [people] to die while working" What he says is true, over 800 Chinese inmigrants have died so far building the transcontinental railroad. Vanderbilt and Rockefeller do not deserve the fame and fortune that they have.

Even if the transcontinental railroad is helpful it is not worth the lives lost in its creation. Indeed it does help transport materials to other parts of the country but the cost is too high. How do we save our failing country and bring back what was working for the health of our economy? All these questions may or may not be answered in the future.
