You were about to leave when Meg finally arrived. The tiny café was crowded, but it was impossible not to notice her, carrying around a stack of books which looked like they belonged in a museum. Even the air around her seemed to become inspired once she entered, and when she sat down and apologised, you'd nearly forgotten that this was supposed to be a first date.

Cause gosh, it just felt like you'd been friends forever.

For a second, she tried to stuff at least some of the books into her already overflowing backpack, but then gave up with a sigh.
"They really should start selling bags at the library. I needed these for my studies on gravitational wa- sorry, it's probably not that interesting," she began, leaving even you a bit out of breath but totally in awe with her mind. "You know, I'm not really good at first dates. I tend to talk too much. And apparently people don't like that."
You didn't mind, really. Actually, you were very much okay with it, because you didn't really like to talk a lot yourself. You were a listener, and funnily enough, you were very much interested in gravitational waves and whatever Meg had to say about it.

So you listened, while she ordered just a coffee for breakfast, and at one point she even let you have a look at one of the books.

It was already noon when she stopped for just a second. "I should probably get going. These things don't study themselves," she said. And you managed to get out the first real sentences in this conversation: "What do you want to do when you grow up?"
She smiled and pulled a pen out of the depths of her backpack. "Everything," she said, and gave it to you. "Draw something." And she pulled her sleeve back, to reveal lots of tiny little drawings, some more faded than others. You didn't even ask, just accepted the fact that it was permanent ink. "It reminds me to meet people," she smiled. "When it's too faded, I know I really should get out of the library."

But for now, she went back there again – because, as she said, the books were already waiting for her.
