"are you planning something, mother?" Jeno asked, raising a brow at his mother in suspicion.

They were heading back to the car after spending almost two or three hours in a cake store for their wedding– that Jeno obviously wanted to get over with.

"What do you mean?" Mrs. Lee raised her brow back at her son, playing it off cool as if she didn't know anything.

Jeno flatly looks at her, "you easily gave in when I said we should just leave or something. You barely do that." He stated.

"Well, I was just getting tired and remembered I have an errand in an hour or two. Is that really why you're skeptical of me?" Mrs. Lee explains while acting like she was offended at the last part.

Her son pursed his lips, "no... It's just that you would usually drag me around the place until I finally pick something. Which I haven't."

"We left without choosing a cake." Jeno highlights his words to try and get his mother's attention and probably try to dig in to the (he assumes) whole truth.

"Guess who's fault that is." Mrs. Lee chuckles and shakes her head when she earned a huff from her son. "Don't fret, Mrs. Na and I will choose a cake for you."

"And we'll choose the best one for our little boys." Mrs. Na coos beside Jeno's mother. But unbeknownst to the boy, she was in on something too.

Jaemin snorts, "we're men now mom, not little boys." He jokes and earned a few grumblings from Mrs. Na while entering the van and settling on their seats.

"But mother–"

"Jaemin, do kindly tell my son to stop worrying when he was the one who literally wanted to leave immediately." Mrs. Lee winks at him as she ignores Jeno sitting beside Jaemin.

Jaemin grins at her and nods as they drove off, since they were at the backseat– he leans in to Jeno's ear and whispers lowly.

"You heard her, sweetheart. Don't worry too much." Jeno furrowed his eyebrows, irritated. He grits his teeth and discreetly nudges the elder away from him.

"Do shut up, Na." He said under his breath.

He thought he might've ended Jaemin's annoying act towards him and decided to leave him alone for once, since the elder had gotten quiet.

Until he felt a hand placed on his thigh, earning a small squeeze that he so–so badly wants to hate on, and the same hot breath, low voice and pair of lips brushing against his earlobe.

"Oh sweetheart. You're a Na too."

"Papa and... Mr. Jaemin! You're back!" Jisung jumps off from the couch and runs up to Jeno with open arms, forgetting the cartoon show him and Sungchan were currently watching.

"Sungie, what did I tell you about jumping off of things?" Jeno scolds him first, instead of picking him up in his arms to shower him with kisses.

Jisung looks down, "sorry papa! I was just excited to see you, but I won't do it again!" He said.

Jeno smiles, satisfied with his son's apology. He crouches down to pick him up while Jaemin greets Sungchan who walks up to them after turning the television off.

"How was he? You didn't go against the set of rules I gave you and made him do things I didn't want him to, right?" Jeno immediately interrogates the man.

Sungchan chuckles and shakes his head, "of course not, sir Jeno. Jisung was good, we played a lot while you were gone." He said.

After mentioning the last part, Jisung rubs his eyes and yawns a little. Jeno then giggles at him, "does my baby want to take a nap first?" Brushing his hair away from his face to place a soft kiss on his forehead.

He earned a tired nod from the little boy while excusing himself from the two other men. "Thank you again, Sungchan." He smiles briefly before heading in to Jisung's bedroom.

"How was your cake shopping, sir?" Sungchan asks his boss to start a small conversation before he leaves and probably do other errands he has been assigned on.

Jaemin sighs a bit, "not sure how it went. He pushed me away like always, got mad, and wanted to leave. But I did have a small conversation with one of the employees."

"Oh? Were they nice?"

"Yeah," Jaemin answered curtly before a small grin was formed on his face. The usual grin Jeno rolls his eyes at and thus why the elder sometimes shows it to him.

"I know that grin, sir." Sungchan calls him out with a snort. "What did you do other than that?" He pries.

"I picked the wedding cake for us." His boss grins.

"Is that it, sir? I really thought you did something better." Sungchan rolled his eyes at him, feeling slightly disappointed.

"Sungchan, he doesn't know."

"What?" The said boy knits his eyebrows in confusion. What is his boss talking about?

"He doesn't know I already picked a cake for us– which is the one he looked at the most. He thinks our moms are picking one for us instead." Jaemin explains.

Sungchan made a sound of realization. "You're really sneaky, sir." He comments with a joking 'tsk'.

"But isn't this whole wedding planning and shopping thing for you both? Like you two have to agree on something while also bonding to get closer with each other." He then added.

Jaemin forces a small laugh while patting his shoulder, "not how my relationship with him works," He said.

His assistant has heard about Jeno before– besides the news articles and all. Jaemin has shared a few stories about him while Sungchan listened to his rants.

So he's aware of how Jeno is towards Jaemin in their condominium and especially without Jisung around. Atleast, from how his boss describes it.

Humming, Sungchan speaks up again. "Now that I've met him face to face... I kinda understand his grudge on you, no offense, sir." He adds with his hands up in surrender.

Jaemin grunts at him and lets him continue anyway.

"I think he's just insecure. Like– he overthinks a lot and tries to hate you because of how you were to him the first time."

"What are you trying to say, Sungchan?" His boss raised a brow.

He shrugs back at the elder and replies, "you just need to show him that you've changed and need to earn his trust. After all, he'll officially be a 'Na' soon."
