[ Chloe ]

I woke up the next morning to my phone buzzing with the annoying alarm I had chosen. I pressed the power button and my bright green wallpaper blinded my eyes. It was already 1:30? I never slept in this late! Under the time I read Saturday, June 20. Huh, Saturday, Saturday, Saturday... Oh no, SATURDAY!

I quickly pulled the sheets off of my body and charged like a herd of wild buffaloes into my closet.

How could I forget? I was meeting Braeden in the park today! At 2:00! I hastily chose a pair of jean shorts and a pink and white striped T-shirt. I brushed my hair and my teeth within 5 minutes and chose a pair of strap-on sandals. I ran (and almost tripped, btw) down the stairs.

I walked into the kitchen and read the time on the microwave. Why did it say 9:45? It was 1:45.

Then Clara waltzed into the room, holding my phone. I had my hands on my hips.

"Clara, did you have my phone last night?"

"Why yes, indeedy I did! I think I messed it up a little..." She had a staring contest with the floor while walking past me.

"A little? You made me rush for no reason! You set my time ahead 4 hours!" I gave her the evil glare.

"Sorry." She gave me the puppy tilt and the quivering lip.

At this point, even that wouldn't work on me.

"Just don't ever touch it again, okay?" I demanded while taking my phone out of her hands.

"Promise." She shook my hand and skipped out of the kitchen.

I set my phone back to the correct time and sat down at the table. I didn't know what to do with the rest of my day, so I decided it would be a tv-phone day.

Half an hour later, my mom came down with her bathrobe on.

"Hey mom, can you drive me to the park today? I'm meeting a friend there."

She sleepily looked at me. "Huh. A friend. What kind of friend?"

Oh crap. I didn't think she would ask that. "Just a boy..." I muttered.

"Aw Chlobird, is this your first date? Of course I'll drive you!"

I decided just to let her think that, even though this was not a date.

I got out of the car and waved a joyful goodbye to my mom as she drove away. It was 1:54 when I arrived at the park, and all I brought was my phone. I scanned the area, and I saw Braeden sitting on the hill in the corner of the park. He was waving to me, so I waved back, and started on my way to the hill.

I looked around the park, and it truly was a beautiful place. Willow trees hanging over the creek, kids playing and having fun. Before I knew it I was already at the hill.

I climbed up, and almost tripped at the top (classic). I smiled at Braeden. "Hey."

"Hi," he greeted with a smile. He pointed at me, then the seat next to him. I'm guessing that means sit next to me.

So I listened.

Within the next three hours, Braeden and I talked about every topic possible. I learned so much about him! He has a younger brother, plays soccer, has a dog, and loves sno-cones.

It was almost 6:00 when I got a text from my mom saying dinner was almost ready. I live really close to the park, so I was just going to walk home.

"I'm going to have to leave soon," I sadly told Braeden. He looked disappointed.

We just sat there in silence for a few minutes, looking at the sky as the sun moved down the horizon. Then Braeden turned to me.

"Chloe," he hardly whispered.

"Yes?" I asked.

"I feel like I've known you forever, and it's only been 3 hours."

I nodded. I felt the same way.

"But this will probably be the best night of my whole summer."

I felt so many butterflies migrating across my stomach.

I looked over at him.

And he kissed me.

It was no more than 5 seconds, but I loved every moment of it.

We pulled away, and I smiled at him. He put his arm around me, and I leaned on his shoulder. It could not be more perfect.

I looked down into the park, and saw a familiar face scowling at me.
