He offered a hand and
Asked for one dance.
There and then, she took it
And entered a trance.
He said, "close your eyes
And follow my lead."
She trusts too easily, so
She did so, indeed.
Blinded, she was, for
She felt he was her light.
He said, "I'd never let you
Out of my sight.
Don't feel fear or
Any sort of negativity.
My love, you're forever
Safe with me."
She smiled, held tight,
And gave him her all.
With closed eyes, that is,
Let him see her fall.

Too blinded by love, she was, to see,
How really deceiving his words could be.
"I'm sorry. I won't do it again.
I love you, believe me."
She did. She trusted him as he did her.
But there's a difference, you see,
She had trust that he'd never
Hurt her again.
He had trust that when he does,
She'd understand, again.

Too blinded by love, she was, to see
How free the woman inside her wants to be.
Free from the pain of promises broken
Again and again.
She wants to see reality, and there,
She began.

She opened her eyes, and then,
She knew.
The she deserves a man with love for her
Undying and true.
A man that loves her and
Treats her right.
A man that wouldn't leave her
Cry all night.
A man that missed her, and thus,
Never goes away.
A man that fights
For her to stay.

She opened her eyes, and then,
She was sure.
That there's only so much pain
She can endure.
That she's done with dealing
With hurt and grief.
That she's going to stop being
Easy to deceive.
That she's going to be independent
And she's going to stay strong.
That she's no longer blind, she can tell
What's right and what's wrong.
That pain is going to stay a bit more,
That's true.
But to avoid everlasting scars,
Leaving is the right thing to do.

So she said, looking right at his dark eyes,
With grief,
"I'm sorry, but it's time for me
To leave."
Being snapped
Out of her trance,
She left the hand that
Asked for one dance.

The longest poem I've written in my entire life, Ladies and Gentlemen! I'm terribly sorry for the delay. My time has been consumed, lately, in a few things.
Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim readers and friends! I do love you all. ❤️
