Ayshe Dragneel (アイシェ・ドラグニル Aishe Doraguniru) is a Mage of the Fairy Tail Guild, wherein she is a member of Team Natsu. She is the younger foster sister of Natsu Dragneel, being the second adoptive child of Igneel.

Appearance

Ayshe has shoulder-length, dark red hair with two strands decorated with golden ornaments, and blue eyes. Two strands of her hair fall on her shoulders that are noticeably longer than the rest of her hair. Her yellow Fairy Tail stamp is located at the back of her left hand. Her usual attire which she wears most of the time consists of a red-and-pink, thigh-length tunic with a V-shaped neckline, has brown belts around her waist, and wears a white and black jacket with gold pins over a pale pink bolero. The rest of her attire consists of white pants, brown, heeled boots, and two pink ribbons wrapped around her legs near her boots. Ayshe also wears a yellow scarf, and a green cord hangs down from her knives' sheaths.

At the festival in Magnolia, following the events of the Brynhildr Arc, Ayshe wore a teal top, paired with a cream-colored sweater along with ebony pants, with brown boots that stopped about mid-tight to duck underneath the frills of her shirt.

During her childhood, her clothes weren't so different from her 15-year-old self. Her hair had the same length as it fell on her shoulders. She had a golden hair clip on the left side of her head instead of the two golden ornaments. She also wore her usual red and pink thigh-length tunic but was half-sleeved instead of a plain white top, light blue pants, and dark brown shoes.

A girl of many faces, Ayshe shows many different aspects of herself. As a Fairy Tail mage, she is kind and outgoing, and charmes young men with a warm smile. She is playful and friendly with her friends and guildmates as well as Natsu and company and often joins in on much of the joking around and sillier activities. She can be rather laid-back, often wears a smile on her smile, and is quite dry-humored. She has a sarcastic, apathetic attitude and does not put much thought into her words, becoming bluntly honest as she says the first thing that comes to her mind. She loves teasing others and can be quite sadistic about it, particularly she enjoys teasing Lucy the most out of everyone else in Fairy Tail. Ayshe generally tends to smirk before teasing or performing her antics towards others, placing them in uncomfortable situations. She can be proud of herself and arrogant but has a nice, joyful, and cheery part of her. She's quite childish and acts over-the-top around the smallest and most trivial things and is mostly awestruck by many things other may seem normal or unimportant.

During battles, she becomes gravely serious and blunt and can be ruthless and cruel toward her opponents, showing them the real situation they're in after giving them false hope. She makes several of her decisions based on instinct and also has a finely-tuned sense of when something is wrong and her "bad feelings" are usually correct. Unlike Natsu, she keeps a stern and calm expression on her face while fighting and tries her best to analyze the opponent's movements for any potential weaknesses, showing more intelligence and maturity than him. She has a cunning and manipulative side and is not above using others to achieve her goals, finding great entertainment in seeing her results which made some describe her as a "dangerous being." Ayshe prefers resorting to mind games and manipulation to solve her problems other than violence, unlike her older brother which makes her far more dangerous than him. She jokingly calls herself "sly" and is fully aware of her childish tendencies, mostly due to her inability to live a normal childhood due to her upbringing.

Ayshe describes herself as someone who's weak, incompetent, and always cries due to everything she's been through in her childhood. While she seems cool-headed, in reality, she's quite emotionally fragile and tends to cry and break down under great pressure or distress. This was evident after her encounter with Natsu after ten years of separation under circumstances that made things only worse for the two of them. Ayshe carries many traumas and bad memories from her past and tries her best to cope with them, yet she can become mentally unstable and experience panic attacks if reminded of them. She's insecure about her abilities and hates herself for being unable to protect either herself or her loved ones and has to constantly rely on the help of others. Ayshe prefers to take matters into her own hands rather than burdening her friends with her problems despite them always telling her to put her trust in them more. While she's cooperative and works well with her friends and allies, sometimes she wishes to act on her own as she feels that her weaknesses might drag them down with her.

Much like her older brother, Ayshe has a strong sense of justice and does not let her personal feelings get in the way of what must be done. She has a deep respect for her guildmates at Fairy Tail and considers them all her friends and family. She is willing to go beyond her limit to protect her friends, even putting her life on the line many times for that. Ayshe is exceptionally close to Lucy and Wendy since she's the second-youngest member after her. She doesn't like to dwell on negative emotions and may at times appear flippant because of this, seemingly her way of coping with her past traumas and mental stresses. Overall, she possesses a genuinely kind heart and shows compassion toward her enemies, and is forgiving of others even if she held grudges against them in the past. Ayshe is extremely passionate about her being a mage and thrives to become stronger and have others acknowledge her, especially Natsu whom she challenged many times and always lost to him, yet she bears no ill will at him whatsoever. She shares her brother's love for fighting and can be almost as equally loud and ruthless as him, albeit a lot less destructive than him. An intelligent girl, Ayshe has a head for business as well as adventure, coupled with a realistic view of malevolence and the workings of the world despite her young age.

• Ayshe's likes include flowers. Among her dislikes include ghosts.

• Her name "Ayshe" was originally given to her by Natsu himself. It's from Arabic origins and an alternative spelling of "Aisha" which literally means "alive and well."

• The original face claim of Ayshe is Rose from Tales of Zestiria.

• If Ayshe could view herself as an animal, she'd choose the Siberian tiger.

• Ayshe is the least member of Fairy Tail who's ever been at Lucy's apartment. Although she finds the apartment quite cozy and much to her taste.

• Ayshe is presumably claustrophobic as she's seen signs of discomfort in tight or closed spaces. This could be traced back to her childhood when she was held captive in a small, enclosed basement.

• Despite her claiming that she hates house chores, Ayshe has shown great skills in both cooking and cleaning.

• According to her, her ideal type of man is kind-hearted and supportive.

• She's quite fond of cute stuff, especially cats and stuffed animals. Albeit she doesn't like to show that side of herself. Presumably, that's the reason why Ayshe shares a good relationship with Happy.

• Although Ayshe is supportive of Lucy's hinted feelings for Natsu, she shows signs of disgust whenever she comes across PDA.

• During a Q&A, when a reader asked who was the lead female character in Fairy Tail, Ayshe immediately considered herself as such. However, Hiro Mashima said people can draw their own conclusions.

• The earliest concept of Ayshe was drastically different from her current design. She had more of a "princess-like" design. Early Ayshe had bright green eyes and ash blonde hair which was worn in a side ponytail with a white and yellow flower in it. Her bangs crisscrossed, and the ends of her hair were curled. She also wore black, gold, and silver armor on her arms and legs. Her attire consisted of a pink and white tunic and black shorts. She wielded a long spear instead of knives. Ayshe was meant to be a long-lost princess who suffered from amnesia, but Hiro Mashima decided to scrap that idea.

• In the official English translation, Ayshe's birthday was given as August 21st. That was the same day Natsu and Igneel adopted her. Because none of them know her actual birth date, they assumed that they assumed that the day they adopted her was her "birth."
