“Hello Happy,” Carla said when the blue Exceed sat next to her on the table.

“H-Hey,” he said, fidgeting nervously.

“What’s wrong?” She asked, frowning at him. He was usually full of stories when he came back from a job with Natsu and Lucy, but today something seemed to be bothering him.

Suddenly, he took a deep breath and turned to face her. “Carla, will you marry me?!” Happy shouted, grabbing her paws. The entire guildhall went quiet and had turned to look.

“W-What?” She gasped, feeling a blush creep up her neck.

“I said—“

“I-I heard what you said!” She snapped, knowing her face was probably red.

“So, what’s your answer?” He asked.

She pulled her hands away and got to her feet. “I have to go,” she said before jumping off the table and flying from the guildhall.

“What was that idiot thinking?” She snapped as she finally landed on a bench in Magnolia Park. “Why did he shout something like that so loudly in the middle of the guildhall?”

Carla sighed, looking up at the bright blue sky. She and Happy had been—according to him—a couple for nearly a year. She really liked Happy, and had even been a lot nicer to him since they both confessed their feelings, but she wasn’t sure if what she felt was love. And if I’m not sure of that, how can I give him an answer?

Honestly, she wasn’t sure why he had asked her so suddenly like that. It’s not like either of them had ever mentioned getting married. She had never even thought about it.

“Carla!” She looked away from the sky when she heard Wendy calling her name. Her friend sat next to her on the bench, smiling at her.

“Are you okay?”

“Why wouldn’t I be?” She snapped.

“Because you flew out of the guildhall like you were upset. I wanted to make sure you were okay.”

“Sorry,” Carla sighed, “I’m just fine.”

“So…” Wendy began, waiting for Carla to explain herself.

“Wendy, how am I supposed to answer a question like that?” She sighed, knowing Wendy had heard Happy’s proposal. “That’s a big decision, and that idiot just shouted it out in front of everyone!”

“He was nervous,” Wendy giggled. “He decided to ask you last night when he, Natsu, and Lucy were on the train back to Magnolia.”

“You knew he was going to ask me?”

Wendy shook her head. “Not until he just told me after you left. He said that he saw how happy Natsu and Lucy are together, and he knew that he wanted to be that happy with you.”

“He still shouldn’t have shouted it out,” she grumbled, crossing her arms.

Wendy grinned, spotting the blush she was trying hard to hide. “You should go talk to him.”

“You’re probably right,” she sighed. “I need to apologize for running away, at least.”

“You—You don’t have to.” Carla jumped, not realizing Happy was standing a few feet away from them.

“I’m going back to Fairy Tail,” Wendy said, leaving before Carla could protest.

“Can I sit down?” Happy asked, fidgeting again.

“Sure,” she shrugged, staring down at her paws.

“Hey, Carla?”

“Yes, Happy?”

“D-Do you love me?”

She looked at him, startled. “Well, I—“

“Even if you don’t, that’s okay. I—I love you, and I don’t mind waiting for your answer. Even if you say no, I’ll be okay with it.”

“Happy,” she smiled, tears filling her eyes. At that moment, any uncertainty she may have had vanished. Happy had always been so caring—even when she was incredibly mean to him. She knew his feelings were genuine, and she knew she didn’t want to be with anyone else. Maybe I really do love Happy.

“Wanna go back to Fairy Tail?” Happy asked. “I bet everyone’s worried.”

“Can I give you my answer first?” She cursed herself for blushing again as she looked at him.

“You don’t have to—“

“Yes,” she said, quickly, before she could talk herself out of it.

“Did you say ‘yes’?” His eyes grew wide as he stared at her.

She nodded, taking a deep breath. “I’ll marry you, Tomcat.” She chuckled when he shouted in joy and hugged her.

“Come on!” He smiled. “We can’t keep everyone waiting, can we?”

“No,” she said, returning his smile. Holding onto each other’s’ paw, they flew back to Fairy Tail.
