"We are all fools in love."

Alexa

Slowly and reluctantly, I uncover my face. I blink, close my eyes, and blink again. Streaks of sunlight penetrate the window and blind me. I sit up and rub my knuckles into my eyes. I stretch my arms above my head and yawn. I don't know when I fell into a deep slumber, but now my body aches from the uncomfortable position I was sleeping in.

I look towards my left and there I saw Noah sleeping. His features were much softer in sleep with his brown locks covering his forehead and a small smile at his lips. He looked peaceful. Wanting nothing more than to curl up into the curve of his body– wait, no. I am not supposed to be thinking this way.

Noah slowly opens his eyes and peers at me, catching me staring at him. "Enjoying the view, huh?" The view he was referring to was in fact himself.

"Imagine walking around with an ego as big as yours," I mutter.

"Imagine drooling at the sight of someone sleeping," his lips curling up into a grin. The grin that can make your heart melt into a puddle. But not mine.

"Want to grab breakfast?" He asks as he starts up the car.

"Yes, please. Let's go get some brekkie," I gush over the thought of food.

"Brekkie, huh? Sounds cute. I might start saying that," he smiles but I slap him playfully. Doesn't everyone say it? I guess not.

Noah takes us into 'Bacon Bros. Diner'. The name sounds funny for some reason but who doesn't love bacon.

I was not let down when the bacon arrived at our table and Noah mumbled, "Brekkie is here!" I laughed before taking a bite. The bacon broke over my tongue, perfectly crisp, perfectly salty. The flavour was like a bomb in my mouth, exploding in all the right ways. I licked my fingers to get all the final goodness before leaving the place.

In the car, Noah recalls, "I wanted you to buy snacks for yourself but I forgot to take you to the store." Right after he said that he turned into a gas station and told me, "Come on, let's get some snacks."

Inside the store, I hoarded my cart with loads of candy and chocolate as Noah eyed me. "So this is what makes you happy?"

"As you can tell," I grin widely.

"I'll keep that in mind."

Back inside the car, I quickly remember something that I wanted to tell Noah, "I still don't want to do the wedding kiss." Don't get me wrong, the kiss in my apartment was out of this world or maybe it was just because it was my first actual kiss, not counting Ethan's, Emma's brother's, kiss where he just forced himself on me. The thing is I am not comfortable kissing Noah in public or ever again. That day in my kitchen was a mistake I will never make again.

"Was I that bad?" I could see the smile fading away from his face then he quickly puts it back on and jokes, "Don't worry, I know you loved it. You don't have to pretend. Just ask if you want another one and I'll be ready to serve you." Then he winks. Oh, that wink makes my heart flutter but I mentally slap myself for that.

"Serve me with what? Your kiss?" I scoff then smile. "This is supposed to be a formal agreement and I think kissing will just complicate it."

"Mmm whatever you say. But I know you loved it."

"How?" I manage to croak.

"You kissed me back with so much passion I could've burnt myself. Oh, that sounded weird," he starts cracking up as I blush and fiddle with my fingers. Did I really kiss him like that? Oh, Lord.

I quickly remember something, "Noah, can we stop by a flower shop before we go to your home?"

"Sure."

As soon as I entered the store, I saw exactly what I had wanted. It was a daisy bouquet. The daisies made such a fine bouquet with their daring simplicity. I see how the light brings its petals to the kind of white that dazzles just a little, so bright next to its sunny core. Noah picks one out and I slap him immediately but I regret it as soon as he carefully places it behind my ear. I turn red when he whispers, "You make the daisy look pretty."

A few hours later and we turn into his house. The house was new. Very new. It looked like it had been finished last week. It looked almost too new in some strange way. It was as if it had rolled off a production line, but they had forgotten to apply the mandatory layer of colour to it. The windows were huge and seemingly inspired by something truly alien. Anyone could see into the house from an uncomfortable distance. From here, I could see surfaces of white, glossy plastic that iced over the kitchen, granite enforced the walls in their straight, uninspired monotony. There wasn't a single square meter of organic material in sight. Not even a comforting wallpaper that imitated warmth in some way. Not even a plank of wood. The house, it seems, was a livable, modern mausoleum.

"Are you ready to meet them?" Nosh asks breaking my thoughts of the house.

"Wait, I need to get something from my bag." I run to the trunk and from my bag, I take out another Tupperware box with the same cake I had given Noah.

Noah comes up next to me with the bouquet and he places his other hand in mine. Our fingers intertwine perfectly as he grins, "Thank you for doing this."

I beam, "Welkie!"

"Wait, what? Do you add 'ie' at the end of every word? This is the best thing ever," I could see his eyes go wide.

"Aren't I the best thing ever?"

"You know what?" His eyes crinkle at the corners as he smiles, "You are." With that, we ring the doorbell and I nervously waited for the door to open.
