FALLEN ANGEL
noun
an angel who rebelled against God
and was cast out of heaven.

tick tock, tick tock, tick tock,
the clock says twelve,
boy, what are you keeping
to yourself?

my father's dead.

where's your mother?

she's with god instead.

tick tock, tick tock, tick tock
the clock just stopped,
boy, why is the door is
locked?

to keep the devil there.

out where?

just there.

out where?

turn around.

—synopsis

Investigating why a furious teenager stabbed his step-father almost to death was something that she didn't want to deal with anymore. It was always the same - you need to blame the parents, the surrounding environment, friends, the Internet— the list is endless, you see.

However, the famous forensic psychiatrist wanted more and she had more. There was nothing more interesting than diving into the head of a psychopath. She wished to understand why some people feel remorse for what they do and why others don't. Some of you might think that the answer is pretty obvious, but when the psychopath looks you dead in the eye and tells you that he did nothing wrong—it consumes your morals.

Morals are made, and she was one of them that drew the line between them. What you did was bad! How could you not realise that? That—that is a line of the psychologist that works at your school. Here, she sat across a person with cuffed hands and talked about nothing without a twitch in her face. That's why she was famous. Being indifferent in front of a person that committed a massacre was like going on a battlefield. If you could just yell at that person and make him understand that what they did was wrong. But, oh dear, she'd say it is a 100% chance, but we have to stay realistic for the records— it is a 99.9% chance that they will never feel that what they did was wrong. It just doesn't exist to them.

But Dr. Hale wanted to take a step deeper into the human's mind. She wanted to know how the mind of a vigilante worked. What does it feel like to be in between good and evil? Where do they cross the lines? When do they become heroes—or when do they decide to take a human's life and become murderers?

Not all murderers were evil. It was the first rule in her job. And she knew he wasn't a murderer, but there was something evil inside him. Oh, to get inside his beautiful head...

Matt Murdock was a pretty face in a courtroom that swooned the hearts of the jury. He was the deadly fear of high corporate lawyers that cared about nothing but money. He was the lawyer of people's hearts and that made him dangerous. He was the Devil of New York. She knew that.

How could she not? Dr. Layla Hale had been a dear friend to him ever since her courses of law at Columbia University where she met the two aspiring attorneys-to-be. Even if the trio's platonic love was never exceeded, she felt not-so-platonic feelings for the one with dark hair. But it never reached anything. Dealing with her own emotions was hard, but at least she knew when to take a step back and know when someone was not interested.

But yes, Dr. Layla Hale was in love with the vigilante himself, and she did not intend on 'fixing' him. She wanted to know the ins and outs of his mind, of his views, of his religion, of his perspective on life and cherish it.

Because— 1) She knew Matt Murdock wasn't evil. But there was a response to his trauma that kept on moving to the surface, making him risk his life in a way of saving people. 2) It was a paradox of how he chose his lawyer's job and went on breaking the law in about three hundred ways on the nights. 3) She was desperately in love him, and maybe she just wanted to be a reason for him to stay alive.

But the third reason is selfish and delusional and both of those were forbidden in her line of work. Oh, and do you think he told her about his restless nights while fighting evil? No, it's all part of her job - she just knew.

4) She just wanted to let him know that he was not alone.

AUTHOR SPEAKS! — this is sort of a trope where they are both are in love with each other, but the situation is always so hectic that they stay silent (i am a sucker for this trope). So expect a lot of longing from both sides (matt's senses are going to combust). ALSO A LOT OF TRAUMA BONDING (who would I be if I wouldn't give a tragic backstory to my characters). I'm also trying a different writing style (gonna include you, readers) so bear with me. If it's shit - just tell me. I wanted to try something a bit more chaotic looking.
