"Be safe, little one. You are loved, You are special. Momma loves you. Daddy loves. Be safe, be strong." There was a bright flash, and a deafening roar sounded. The small grey kit turned to one side with wide eyes, only to hear a devastating crash and the crushing of bones.

Fallenkit woke with a lurch. The dream... No. The nightmare, was still ringing in his ears. He cleared out his brain by taking in his surroundings, careful not to open his eyes, make any noises or even movements when he realized he was not alone in the den. The young kit pretended he was still asleep, eavesdropping on the conversation that was being had by the two queens in the den.

"Well, if you are so concerned for his well being, then why don't you take him?" A harsh voice sounded just a couple of paw-steps away. A much softer voice responded with a sigh.

"You know I can't take him, Bluecloud. He is expected to be your kit. You know he will think something is up if I take him in while I am just a moon away from kitting myself!"

The first cat, which Fallenkit assumed was Bluecloud, snorted and walked towards the nest In which Fallenkit lay. She then spun around a tail-length away, obviously angered she had to care for him.

"Look at him! He's scrawny. He's weak. Who cares what he thinks? Think about it Pinefall. You're much smarter then that."

"How could you feel no love? No shame? No guilt?" Pinefall responded in despair, trying to make Bluecloud realize that she was indeed treating the young kit wrongly.

"I will feel nothing for this kit." Bluecloud retorted coldly. With that, she stalkedd out of the den, leaving Pinefall panting and spitting under her breath.

For the first time, Fallenkit felt cold, a shiver ran down his spine, forcing him to open his little eyes. The little den was enclosed with brambles, allowing little light to pass through so it was dimly lit. Fallenkit squinted, his eyes adjusting to the blurry brightness as he assumed it was sunrise.

Pinefall had turned around to see Fallenkit sitting up and opening his eyes. Her eyes lit up as she let out a delighted sigh.

"You're awake!" She exclaimed, but then backed away when she saw that Fallenkit was cold from the lack of body heat from Bluecloud.

"Oh! Um... Bluecloud.. She is..." Pinefall sighed. "Bluecloud is getting some food. You.. You should try to get some more rest." She said in a tone somewhat worrysome.

Fallenkit looked into Pinefall's eyes and nodded, and Fallenkit, for the first time, saw the beauty in the she-cat. Pinefall had bright green-colored eyes with darker flecks that reflected the light coming in through gaps in the brambles. Her pelt was dark brown with tabby stripes, and her belly was swollen. Fallenkit assumed this was from Pinefall being a moon away from kitting, as he heard in the heated argument.

She padded over to her large, mossy nest with a bit of feathers and laid down. Obviously tired and depressed from the debate, she closed her eyes. Within a few moments, the she-cat had slowed her breathing and seemed to had entered a dreamless sleep.

Fallenkit looked around. With his nest in the back of the den, he saw no cat around besides Pinefall. Knowing she was asleep, he stood up weakly. Once he had regained the balance that he had lost, he padded out of his nest and shook out his fluffy pelt.

Fallenkit headed towards one of the two small openings in the small den, and a burst of cold, fresh air hit his nose and set him shivering once more. He looked around and gasped, astonished by what he was seeing. The clearing was incredibly large with frost was everywhere, making it glimmer and shine.

The border consisted of tall, dark brown oak trees with twisted trunks. The branches entwined with the others, making a rim around the clearing. On the opposite side stood a small hole, where cats were entering and leaving. Orange light dappled all over the mossy ground from the amazing sunrise.

A rather large den stood near the hole and across from it on the other side was a smaller one. One great tree stood in the middle of the clearing, where he saw pairs of cats training to climb up the tree. Wanting to try, he started towards the tree, but was stopped by a deep, questioning voice.

"Going somewhere?" Fallenkit whipped around, seeing a large, muscular cat. Seeing that the tom was much larger then he, Fallenkit backed away, staring into his silver eyes.

"Who.. who are you?" Fallenkit stammered, trying to hide the great amount of fear showing in his voice. The white tom answered, flicking his black tail side to side.

"Why, I'm Blacktail, your father!" He exclaimed calmly, but his voice was icy cold. "I sure thought you would have known that by now. Surely Bluecloud told you?"

"Actually she-"

"Hush," Blacktail meowed, flicking his black tail over the kit's mouth, making Fallenkit sneeze. "You should really listen to your mother, you know. You owe her."

"Owe her for wha-"

"Hush," Blacktail meowed again, more sternly this time. Fallenkit was more carful to dodge the tail, but that resulted in him getting fur in his mouth from having it open. Fallenkit spat on the ground and glared at Blacktail.

"You-" Blacktail began, but stopped when he saw a grey she-cat coming towards them.

"Bluecloud, my love!" Blacktail purred, brushing up against his mate as their black tails entwined.

"Hello, Blacktail." Bluecloud purred back. "Did you hear Moonpaw jumped into the great oak today? Oh, I'm so proud!"

"Yes, yes. So proud." Blacktail responded with a smile, flashing his sharpened teeth. When Bluecloud realized they were not alone, she glared at Fallenpaw annd started spitting.

"What are you doing out here?" She hissed, infuriaed.

"I just-" Fallenkit tried to explain, but Bluecloud cut him off.

"Do you have permission to be out here from any cat?"

"No, but-"

"Then you should be ashamed of yourself. Now into the nursery with you." Bluecloud picked Fallenkit up by the scruff. He turned to Blacktail, desperate for him to back him up but he just glared into Fallenkit's eyes.

Instead of a soft landing that he had expected, he was hurdled into to the nursery, and that was the last thing he could remember.
