Grace's POV:

The next morning I wake up before my alarm goes off. I get up and get dressed. When I exit my bedroom to head down to the studio I see Julie leaving her room as well. "Morning." I say. "Morning. Headed down there?" She asks. I nod.

"Me too, there's something I think we need to do together." She says. I nod and with that the two of us head out of the head and towards the garage. When we get inside I don't see the guys. "Guys?" Julie calls. Nothing. "Guys?" I say, trying again. Still nothing.

I follow Julie over to the piano. On top are two copies of the same song. One for piano and the other for guitar. We exchange a look. This is something we have to do. I slowly walk over to my guitar and grab it, quickly tuning it like I have a thousand times. It's so familiar.

She looks at me as she settles behind the piano and I nod for her to start if she wants, when she's ready. She takes a deep breath and starts playing. I quickly join in after her.

Julie:

Here's one thing, I want you to know
You got someplace to go

Life's a test, yes
But you go toe to toe
You don't give up, no, you grow

And you use your pain
Cause it makes you you
Though I wish I could hold you through it
I know it's not the same
You got living to do and I just want you to do it

So get up get out relight you're spark
You know the rest by heart

Wake up, wake up if it's all you do
Look out, look inside if you
It's not what you lost
It's what you'll gain
Raising your voice to the rain

Wake up your dream and make it true
Look out, look inside of you
It's not what you've lost
Relight that spark
Time to come out of the dark

Wake up

Wake up

Grace

Better wake those demons
Just look them in the eye
No reason not to try

Life can be a mess
I won't let it cloud my mind
I'll let my fingers fly

And I use the pain
Cause it's part of me
And I'm ready to power through it

Gonna find the strength
Find the melody
Cause you showed me how to do it

Get up, get out
Relight that spark
You know the rest by heart

Wake up, wake up if it's all you do
Look out look inside of you
It's not what you've lost
It's what you'll gain
Raising your voice to the rain

Wake up your dream and make it true
Look out look inside of you
It's not what you've lost
Relight that spark
Time to come out of the dark

Wake up

Wake up

Together

So wake that spirit, spirit
I wanna hear it, hear it

No need to fear it
You're not alone
You're gonna find your way

Grace

Oh!

Together

Wake up wake up if it's all you do
Look out look inside of you
It's not what you are
It's what you'll gain
Raising your voice to the rain

Wake up your dream and make it true
Look out look inside of you
When you feel lost
Relight that spark
Time to come out of the dark

Wake up

Grace

Mmm wake up

With that we trail out the instruments. Tears are running down both of our faces. I set my guitar back down and move to sit next to her and I pull her into a tight hug. I've missed playing. I've missed playing with mom, but I've also missed playing with Julie.

A few seconds of silence pass before someone breaks the silence. "Carlos told me you two would be out here. We need tot talk." Flynn says. "Are you ok?" I ask, looking towards my best friend with concern.

"No! I'm not ok! You two just got kicked out of music! I've been up all night thinking about what I was gonna say. Might've drank seven sodas, but I need to get this out." She says. "Wait, we have something to tell y-" "No, it's my turn." She says, cutting us off. We sit back and allow her to talk.

"You two can't give up music. Your music is like a gift, that would be a tragedy. So, you're basically like cancelling Christmas, and I love Christmas." She says. "Flynn, we-" She cuts me off again.

"When we were six we promised we'd be in a band together and then when Gracie came along we expanded. Triple Threat." She says. "I never agreed on that name." I say, smirking a little. I do remember her bringing it up every once in a while.

"That's not the point Grey, you and Jules, if yo leave the music program, we'll be apart forever. That's just what happens. Sure we'll see each other in the hall sometimes, but we'll have different likes, make new friends." She says. Julie rolls her eyes. "That's not true."

"You're right. I won't be making any new friends, and the only time we'll be contacting each other is when we're liking each other's posts on Instagram. Every time I'll be hitting that little heart, my heart will be breaking because my best friends left me, and...ugh."

She clutches her head. Do you have any side? My head hurts." She says. I smile a little. "Can we talk now?" Julie asks. She sighs, but nods. "We just sang together again. I played the piano and Grey played the guitar as well." She says. "What? Why didn't you just say so?" She asks us.

"We tried to, but your seven sodas wouldn't let us get a word in edge wise." I say, smiling. "I'm so happy for the two of you! And me!" She exclaims. Julia and I laugh at this. "Look at you two, looking all, I don't, ALIVE AGAIN!" She yells. This just causes us to laugh harder.

"Right? It's like we drank seven sodas." Julie teases. "What made you play again?" "We found this song our mom wrote." Julie says, pushing the music sheets towards Flynn. "Whoa." "I know." I say, smiling. "I was so afraid to play it, anything involving music reminds me of her."

"Me too. Music became a coping mechanism when mom and dad adopted me, and when mom passed, I lost it." I mumble. "Then I woke up this morning and realize my fear is why I should play it. To keep her memory alive." Julie adds, grinning at me.

"And I realized that music doesn't have to be a sad memory, it can remind me of happy times as well." I say. "Awe, group hug." Flynn says. We smile and bring it in. Right as we reach each other Flynn gasps. We jerk away immediately.

"We need to tell Mrs. Harrison you can play again at school, and my life won't be that sad picture I just painted for you." She says. I laugh at this. "My girls are back. Triple Threat lives again!" "That's not our name." I say. "I gave you both t-shirts in the 7th grade that say otherwise.

With that we grab our backpack and head out. When we leave the garage the boys are right outside. "Oh, hey!" Julie greets. I just smile at wave. "What?" Flynn asks. "Let's hustle." Julie recovers. I laugh as the three of us make our way up the steps from our backyard.

Julie and I turn to wave at them again, but Flynn catches us and we make like we're swatting at bees. Well, we certainly had an interesting morning.
