　Being Katie Carter's big brother was one of Beau's proudest achievements. She was so kind, so clever, and doing God knows what in New York City──although he liked to pretend he knew what was going on in her life whenever the neighbors asked when she'd be visiting.

He couldn't exactly blame her for not wanting to come home. There was nothing for her there. She had always had bigger goals, braver dreams. For Beau, maintaining the farm and supporting his mama was enough. For him, the cavity left by their father was one to fill. For Kate, it only served as a reminder that whatever she came in contact with, she would eventually lose. And Beau wouldn't wish it upon her to be unhappy.

A good sibling gave and gave, and never tried to take. That was why Beau never blamed Katie for leaving.
He still worried.

The horses, cows and bulls──he didn't have it in him to raise sheep or chickens──effectively took his mind off his little sister most of the time. When that failed, he went to church. When that didn't work either, he let himself think of Tyler.

Tyler and his crew and his tornadoes, that was. The very tornadoes that threatened Beau's world. Tyler Owens was another person who made Beau worry. He was another person who abandoned Beau. Not that Beau could blame him either──not that he wished to.

There was no point mourning a lukewarm friendship with a self-righteous thrill-seeker.

When the two people who he had thought had forsaken him showed back up on his doorstep on the same evening, his first instinct was to slam that very door in their faces. Unfortunately, Beau wouldn't be himself if he allowed anyone to step out into the storm just like that.

So, he welcomed both Katie and Tyler. With each storm, he might've grown to regret that decision, if it only wasn't for what he got out of it in the end.

Turned out, when the skies cleared, many surprising things could be seen through them──family, purpose, love.
