Okay.

This is stuff I've wanted to say for a long time but never had the chance to.

Seeing as the final Splatfest is coming up quickly for Splatoon 2, now might be a good time to get all this off my chest. Or maybe it's too late...

...but I'm gonna do it anyway.

First off...
There are people saying the original is better than the sequel.

I agree....on some aspects.

Yes, the original game had more creativity in things like boss fights and stuff... for example, the boss designs were overall more creative, and the final boss in Splatoon 1 was (as far as I've seen??? I've only played S2) much more challenging. I'll probably never know the difficulty of the bosses in S1 compared to S2, but meh, I'm good with that.

But there are other things in the second game that have improved too. Like the boss introductions.

S1? Boss jumps up and screams at you. That's it.
S2? Lights, camera, action — epic, rather scary introduction!

There are other things that are improved, too; not just bosses. The graphics are much better in the second game (as expected), and I don't see as many glitches or "tentaclips" (tentacles clipping into clothing, etc) as the first game. I can't say how many mechanics or characters were transferred over (I've only seen so much S1 gameplay), but I can say that there are some major improvements in S2.

Next up, music.

A lot of people are disappointed that the majority of songs from S1 didn't carry over to S2, and that S2's soundtrack has completely different music, along with a few remixes (such as the remixed Now Or Never!, Bomb Rush Blush, and Calamari Inkantation), and I agree that it can be disappointing, especially with Splattack! being ditched as well and replaced with Inkoming!. I personally wish there was some kind of secret bonus feature or unlockable thing that allows you to listen to the old songs (I don't think there is one, as of now, anyway?), but I will give you this...

You can't listen to Splatoon 2's soundtrack and COMPLETELY hate it. I mean, come on! Yes, it is disappointing that some songs were excluded. Yes, there are some trashy S2 songs that are much worse than S1. But you gotta appreciate the hard work and effort put into the new songs, and I personally love them!

Especially Octo Expansion...but I'll get to that later.

Next up...the stars.
Squid Sisters vs. Off the Hook.

Now, a lot of people are mad that OTH replaced the Squid Sisters, and some people day that OTH takes longer to do the news than the Squid Sisters do. I don't know how true that last claim is, but that's not what I'm really focusing on here. I say, accept a fresh start. I know it's probably a little late to say this, seeing as S2 is almost over, but... meh. Whether you're loyal to the Squid Sisters or ready to jump into Off the Hook, I won't discriminate. I love both bands!

Ahem

Now is the moment I mentioned before, Octo Expansion!
The first paid Splatoon DLC, and (I've heard it's) not the last!

Does this mean there will be a Splatoon 3 with a paid DLC? I don't know. Does this mean that before or even after the final Splatfest there will be another Splatoon 2 paid DLC? I don't know. But either way, I'm looking forward to it!

Octo Expansion is amazing! I pesonally loved playing it! The only part that I spoiled myself with was the final boss(es), but the beginning and everything in between was entirely new to me, and I enjoyed every minute of it...

...when I wasn't gamer raging, eheh.

I'm still trying to beat Girl Power Station.
sPLAT YOU SANITIZED OCTOS!

ahem

But yeah, OE is definitely a challenge, especially for someone like me who sucks at everything gaming. Honestly, it gives me major Portal vibes, but that's a different subject.

I won't spoil too much for you, unless you want me to...mostly because if I start talking too much, I'll never stop.

This chapter's already 693 words long...
Oops, 697.

But whaaatever, I guess—

What I'm wondering about is the future of Splatoon. Will there be new stars? Will the other agents return, like Agent 3 returned in OE? (Oops, spoiler!) Will there even be a Splatoon 3? Splatoon 2 came out after the Nintendo Switch, the latest Nintendo console at the time, was released. If that logic is applied to an S3, that means we'd have to wait for another Nintendo console (hopefully/possibly this year if there is going to be one?) before we can even dream of a Splatoon 3.

If I'm honest, I doubt there will be a S3. Nintendo can't keep making sequels like this, and if they do, the fandom will eventually dry out, just like FNaF. You can't just make a new game for a series every two years. For one, it's expensive and takes a lot of time to even make the game. Two, like I said, eventually people will get tired of so many new games of the same series coming out.

(...except Mario and Sonic, apparently...possibly among others.)

Do I hope for a Splatoon 3? Yes! Yes, I do! I want to see what else can be shoved into the lore to make it even more broad than it already is. I also hope for a bit more on the Octo Expansion story. I'm kind of big on lore, and I love how much is added to Splatoon as a whole already. I want to learn more. I thirst for knowledge!

No matter what happens, all we can do is look to the future to see what happens.
As I said before, it's probably a little late for all of this, but I needed to get it off my chest.

Now, as a bonus...some deep Splatoon thoughts.

How come there are such things as Octotroopers, Octosnipers, Octobombers, etc, but there aren't Inkling/squid equivalents?

How are stages cleaned after turf wars and ranked battles?

There are squid rings in the game that you jump through to get power eggs, and Marie mentions at one point that they're "morbidly delicious"... are Inklings cannibals? (Maybe let's not think too much about this one...)

How do Inklings and Octolings clean themselves, their clothes, their dishes, and anything else that needs cleaned if they can't touch water?

How do Inklings and Octolings get a haircut? Does it hurt?

If an Inkling or Octoling was to severely injure or cut off their limb, would it grow back?

What DOES Mr. Grizz do with those golden eggs?

Can Inklings and Octolings own pets?

If so many sea creatures got humanoid forms, how come there are sea creatures more resembling their original selves than a human in the Metro?

How and why is music so powerful in the world of Splatoon? (It can do things like reform Octolings, for example!)

Who is the professor that created TarTar?

If TarTar was created during human times, how does he (it...?) know how to communicate with Inklings and Octolings? They clearly speak different languages.

How is it possible to completely cover Callie in ink without splatting her?

Do Inklings and Octolings die from age? If so, what happens? Do they explode like what happens if they get splatted? Do they come back? Are they just... dead forever?

How and why are there ghosts in Splatoon? (Giggling statues, ringing telephone, screams in OE, etc)

Do Judd and Li'l Judd miss humans?

Are Inklings and Octolings allowed to pet Judd and Li'l Judd?

Why do DJ Octavio and the other Octarians hate Inklings so much? Is there still more to their past we don't know?

Do Inklings and Octolings have different languages, or is it all the same?

Do ANY sea creatures have different languages? If so, how do they communicate?

And most importantly...

How did DJ Octavio escape his snowglobe between S1 and S2?

That is all.
