Veronica's P.O.V.

I had told my parents that I was going to spend the night at Sadie's house, letting them know that I was going to study with her. Thankfully, they let me.

So, I had packed an overnight bag and was on my way to her house. I already texted her that I was on my way.

I had heard from Addison that Wyatt was going crazy and snapping at all the other students. Of course, I just replied with a simple 'Okay' because I didn't want anything to do with them at the moment.

I just wanted to go to the only person that I needed at the moment.

Speaking of which, I saw her house in the distance and I drove by, stopping my motorcycle and turning it off. I took off my helmet, grabbed my things, and walked to the doorstep.

I knocked on the door and it opened, revealing Claire.

"Hi, Veronica." she greeted. "Hi, Ms-" I started, but she placed a hand on my shoulder.

"No need for that! I told you to call me Claire!" she said.

I smiled at her. "Hi, Claire."

She hugged me before leading me inside. "Come in."

I never told anybody, but I always felt a deep connection with Claire. Almost as if there was something between us that made it strong.

I hope to one day figure out what it means.

"Your parents already told me everything. Sadie is in her room right now. Luckily, we have a spare bedroom you can use for the night." she explained.

I thanked her and headed to Sadie's room, knocking on the door and opening it.

She was on her bed, listening to music from her laptop as she read a book.

"Hey, girl!" I greeted as she jumped and tossed her book.

"Bro! Not cool!" she said as I put my stuff down.

I ran to her bed and plopped on it as we began talking.

We got out our books and binders and helped each other do our Biology homework.

We spent at least two hours doing our homework and studying for our test this week.

"So, what happened at practice earlier?" she asked.

I froze as I closed my eyes. "Who told you?"

"Eliza did. She told me that you and Wyatt somehow got in a fight?"

I sighed before I turned and told her everything that went down.

From finding out Wyatt was my mate all the way to the fiasco that happened at school.

"Wait, so Wyatt is your soulmate? Huh. I kinda figured that out ever since you two met." Sadie explained.

"Then, why would you get super protective whenever he talked to me?" I asked.

"I'm your protector and best friend. It's my job, but seeing as you were happy, I decided to back off and let you live unless I had to come in." she explained.

"Can we focus on the subject here?" I asked and she knew what I meant.

"Listen, if Addison is this Great Alpha they believe she is, then Wyatt was simply admired and hopeful to have finally found the leader the pack needs. Think of it like meeting your idol. You look up to them and when you meet them, you feel admiration because they helped you be the person you are. It doesn't mean he likes her, he simply just wants her help because they believe she can save the pack. Wyatt freaking adores you, hell, would kill for you. Wolves mate for life, Roni, no matter who it may be. Don't jump to conclusions. Wyatt loves you and I know deep down, you want to accept him as your mate. Imprinting can have a strong effect. It binds you two together like magnets. One can't be without the other and whoever tries to get involved gets pushed back." she told me.

I smiled and nodded my head.

Wait, hold up.

Rewind a second, what?

"How do you know about that? About imprinting and the wolves?" I asked.

Sadie froze before getting up. "Nothing, Roni. It's fine."

I had enough of this sugar-coating. I'm putting my foot down because they are all keeping something from me. I just know it.

I stood up and faced her. "I know you're hiding something from me. You and my parents. I can tell, so don't think I'm stupid. Every time I ask about my bracelet or try to take it off, you guys scold me like a child or get after me for it. What's the deal with me taking it off? Every time I ask about where I came from and stuff, you all just ignore it! Every time I ask you guys what you all are hiding, you always just brush it off. Do you have any idea how much that bugs the hell out of me? Knowing my own parents and best friend who always tell me to talk about anything to them, but can't talk to me about keeping secrets? What are you all hiding?" I asked.

She stood still as she shook her head. "The bracelet remains on you for a reason."

"Which is?"

"A very important one."

I sighed before sitting down on the bed. There was no point in arguing now, because at this point, they're never going to tell me.

"What do you guys have to hide from me?"

I heard Sadie walk over to where I was as she sat down next to me.

"I'm sorry, Roni. I want to tell you so badly. You have no idea, but your parents made me swear to not tell you and just protect you."

"Why? I'm fine! It's not like I'm going to die or anything! I get it, but come on, Sadie! This is Seabrook, bad things rarely happen here because everybody is so damn perfect! I just want to know why my own family and best friend are keeping secrets from me! At this point, I'd rather be with the werewolves in the Forbidden Forest or in Zombieland with the zombies because this town is filled with nothing but lies!" I snapped.

I ran my hands through my hair as I tried to contain the tears of frustration that threatened to come out.

"Why?" I asked as Sadie came and wrapped her arms around me, pulling me into her arms.

"I wish I could tell you. I really do, but I can't. It kills me to keep stuff from you, but I hope you understand one day." she told me.

The frustration got the best of me and I broke down in her arms. Even though Sadie said sweet words and hugged me as long as she could. I felt as if this wasn't doing anything.

That's when I realized I needed Wyatt.

Deep down, I craved his touch, since I'm just so frustrated and pissed off. I needed to feel his warmth and comfort.

Why can't they trust me with whatever they're hiding?

Wyatt's P.O.V.

I was with the pack as we were planning on bringing Addison to the den so she could become the Great Alpha.

"We go tonight. We'll track her down, bring her here, and she'll tell us where the moonstone is." I explained.

The pack murmured in agreement.

"How can we trust her? What if she isn't the Great Alpha?" Willa asked.

I placed a hand on her shoulder. "Give her a chance, sister."

She rolled her eyes and sighed in agreement before ordering for the wolves to resume whatever they were doing.

"Anything from Veronica?" Wynter asked me.

I shook my head. "Do you think she hates me?"

"No, of course not. Wyatt." she shook her head, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder.

"Just give her time, Wyatt. She loves you and no little argument will stop that. You belong to her and she belongs to you. Just respect her and give her time."

She was very good at advice like this.

It made me feel a bit better

"Thanks, Wyn." I told her.

"You're welcome, Wy." the Omega replied before joining the other pack members.

I suddenly felt a pain in my chest. I groaned and placed my hand over it. It was almost like my heart was clenching. I felt....sadness, frustration, and pain?

As the pain was becoming a dull ache, I heard something. It was a sob. My mate's to be exact. I whined as the sobbing got louder.

I was feeling Veronica's pain. She is in a tough state right now. She needs me. I have to go to her. Only her mate can make her feel better right now and that happens to be myself.

She probably hates me right now, but I need to help her out.

I told Willa I had something to do and soon enough, I found myself running, following where my mate's sweet scent would lead me to.

'I'm coming, Veronica.'
