It was time. Doomsday was here.

I had made my choice.

I trudged to the living room, my heart heavy, as if there were a ton of bricks on it.

Music. It was my life.

And I was about to give it up. I had no choice! I could not become the CEO of my parents' hospital! I silently blamed Mother and Father for forcing me into a corner.

Mother and Father were on the sofa, staring at me as I sat down opposite them. Awkward silence hung high in the air.

"Well, let the negotiation begin," Father announced.

"In exchange for not being the CEO of Green Clover Hospital, I will give up music in two month's time," the words tumbled out from my mouth with false conviction.

Saying those words were equivalent to tearing my heart out.

Would they agree to my deal? I had sacrificed the reason I live. I sent a silent prayer heavenwards.

They nodded and said, "It is a deal. Do not break it."

With a sigh, I nodded. Father then droned on about the terms and conditions of the deal.

I listened half-heartedly as I drowned myself in my thoughts. I realised that Mother and Father's eyes had a hint of amusement in them.

I felt my heartbeat's tempo increase and could hear the creschendo of my pulse.

They were actually relishing the painful negotiation!

However, whatever I had felt moments ago vanished as soon as it appeared.

The deal was struck. Biting my lip, I forced myself to hold back the tears that welled up in my eyes.

It was over.

My life had lost all meaning.

Little did I know that that was the start of the melody fate was playing for me.
