Q: What inspired you to write fanfiction?

A: Well, YouTube is a big part of my life – watching YouTube, that is. I would watch Captain Sparklez, Team Crafted, and other gamers all day long. I literally had no social life back then. (I now have a tiny, itty bitty sliver of a social life. :D)

I can't really remember the day I stumbled across fanfiction.net, because my memory sucks, but I imagine I must have been looking for some stalkery fact about Team Crafted, or looking up the next Minecraft update, or googling how to spawn Herobrine or something, and I saw the fanfiction.net link. I'm guessing I clicked on it, found an entire fanbase of people who loved Minecraft, and nearly died of excitement. I then proceeded to actually read one of the stories.

This part I do remember.

I would get so into these stories, like, I was literally foaming at the mouth when they would get updated. And then one of my favorite stories gets updated, and I'm just like, “ASDFKJASDLFKJ DROP EVERYTHING AND READ THE CHAPTER.” And so I read the chapter. But it wasn't a chapter... It was an author's note.

“Sorry, guys, but I'm putting this story on hiatus until further notice! I just have too much going on!”

*left eyes twitches*

“WHAT!?” I remember being completely devastated. I mean, I totally get it, guys. You get really piled up with work and school and just life and general, and you might not have time any more to write fanfictions. But I decided on that day to make a fanfiction that would never be discontinued or put on hiatus. I vowed to update constantly and regularly, and always use good grammar and make new paragraphs when someone new started talking (sorry, that's one of my pet peeves -.-).

AND BRINECRAFT WAS BORN.

I haven't exactly been doing too well with those 'constant and regular' updates, though... But, hey. It's not officially on hiatus, and it never will be. I am constantly thinking of new ideas for that story and Slowly Changing, really. It's not like I just forgot. I'm just trying to come up with an acceptable idea.

Anyways.

Q: Are you part of any other fandoms?

A: Uh, let's see... I like YouTube. Ya know, in case you couldn't tell. -.- I just think that needs its own category apart from MC Youtubers I also like Doctor Who, though I've currently only watched “The End of Time.” I'm trying to think of fandoms that I'm really obsessed with... (EDIT: 5SOS HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE LIST OF FANDOMS, OMINOTCH THAT BAND IS BOSS.)

I think Minecraft/Youtubers is the big one. I could name a lot of shipping fandoms, but I think that's in a different question below. Specific YouTube fandoms would be Team Crafted, the Creatures, Pewdiepie and his friends, Dan and Phil, Tyler Oakley and friends... ugh, there's more, I just can't think of them...

OH WAIT! *facepalm* TEEN TITANS! DUH! UGH, HOW COULD I FORGET!? Emily (my cousin) and I actually made this account together, so we could write Teen Titans fanfics on here. At least, that was her goal. Mine was to write Brinecraft. I did end up making a TT fanfic though.

And she never did.

Q: Is there any story you would really like to write if you weren't overloaded?

A: Yes. I've been wanting to write “The Cliché Fic” for a very long time. I would write a cliché plot type or subplot or character or something at the beginning of the chapter, and then I'd try to do the least cliché thing in the chapter. Then at the end of the book, we'd count up how many times I failed and wrote something really cliché. :/

I've also been thinking about posting a story I wrote in sixth grade called “Seven Spies: Seeing Stars.” Yeah, it completely sucks, but it's memories, you know? The first full book I wrote, 98 pages. The plot's all over the place, and it's actually pretty funny (And horrifying) to read over it... I gave up on revising that thing a long time ago.

Q: How old are you right now? When you started writing?

A: Stalkerish Questions indeed, my friend. I can't tell you how old I am, because my mom doesn't want me to and I respect her too much to tell you anyways. OKAY. WOAH. WAIT. STORY TIME.

So my mom and I were sitting on the living room couch watching the grammys or some jazz like that, and Beyonce came on the screen wearing the most inappropriate outfit, and I remember my mom said something like, “Ugh, but imagine what her mother must feel like! To see her daughter out there, doing... that...” And I made a promise to myself right then and there that if and when I got famous (dude, you're never to old to dream :3) I would dress and act appropriately so my mom will never have to look at her daughter on TV, or just in general, and think, “What happened...?”

Uh, wait. That story was unrelated. Let me explain. The point of that story was that I respect my mom a lot, and I don't want to disappoint her. And maybe other kids my age would be screwing their parents rules and doing what they want, but I just don't see any need to. My mom and I have a really strong bond, and I don't wanna ruin that.

OK ONTO PART TWO OF THIS QUESTION.

I think I started writing in either first or second grade. My best friend and I had a little story series going called Nature Girls. Or, uh, maybe it was called Mini and Bailie. I don't actually remember. :/ What I do remember is that I was Mini, and my bestie was Bailie, and one of my other close friends was Elizabeth, the bad guy. We would roleplay at recess and then I would write down our stories. The “books” I wrote were usually about three pages long, written on colored construction paper.

At some point, our other friend joined the game as Rachel, Mini and Bailie's long lost triplet. Yeah, we were all twins. And we all had super powers. Did I forget to mention that? We had nature powers, but we also had completely unrelated powers. We could all fly, and we had superspeed, but Bailie was the best at flying and I was the fastest runner. I remember that in every single one of our stories, we would have a scene where Mini accidentally flew into a flagpole. She really sucked at flying.

One time in second grade, when we were being taught about quotation marks, I remember Bailie leaning over to me and whispering, “Hey! We should use those quotation thingies in our books!”

Good times.

A: Kay. First of all, I know you didn't want me to talk about this, but... You know that thing people say? “Be Yourself”?

IT'S A LIE, A LIE I TELL YOU!

You don't have to be yourself on fanfiction.net and wattpad! When you're writing, you can be whoever the heck you want!

Just don't be a creepy old stalkery dude. O.O

But, I mean, honestly. Am I really a waffle-obsessed, all-caps-loving, chaotically ridiculous teenage girl in real life?

Uh, yes.

BUT THAT DOESN'T COUNT, JUST SHUT UP.

You can be anyone you want. In real life, I'm extremely shy around anyone who isn't my best friend/isn't willing to let me scream about waffles or pie. Your writing is your writing, and you can do whatever you want with it. If you wanna tell your readers that Spongebob visited you one day in September (Do you remember September? :3) and granted you epic writing powers, then by all means, go ahead.

Oh, and here's a writing tip: DON'T MAKE A CLICHE PLOTLINE.

UNLESS THE PLOT LINE IS SO CLICHE THAT IT'S OBVIOUS THAT CLICHE IS WHAT YOU WERE GOING FOR. Then it's fine.

One more suggestion: No, no, this is actually an order:

MAKE PARAGRAPHS WHEN SOMEONE NEW STARTS TALKING. And I don't mean when there's a new POV, I mean when someone new starts talking. This is one of my pet peeves, though I usually just suck it up and read a story anyways if it's got a good plot but no paragraphs. :P

Wrong:

“Lily!” I called up the stairs. “Where are you!?” “I'm in the garage, Jamie, help!” “What, are you stuck?” I ask as I bang on the garage door. “What?” “WHAT!?” “WHAT!?!?!?! I THOUGHT YOU SAID SOMETHING!” “I DID!”

Right:

“Lily!” I called up the stairs. “Where are you!?”

“I'm in the garage, Jamie, help!”

“What, are you stuck?” I ask as I bang on the garage door.

“What?”

“WHAT!?”

“WHAT!?!?!?! I THOUGHT YOU SAID SOMETHING!”

Q: How did you feel about your first story brinecraft and of your account in the begining compared to how you feel now?

A: Uh, wow. Well, let's just say, I've progressed a lot. When I started BrineCraft, I half-expected to not get any attention on fanfiction and wattpad, and then I also half-expected to get mind-blowingly famous. XD My aunt actually suggested that, if I got a lot of followers, I make a t-shirt with a neon green tap-dancing ruler on it. I don't think she quite understood what kind of “rulers” you guys are...

I dunno, I really like the idea...

Now that I am where I am, I am so happy it hurts. Knowing that people read and enjoy my work, knowing that they want to read more of it – it's great! And it's not like I'm mind-blowingly famous, but honestly, back when I started this account, I literally expected to rise up to, like, John Green status within two hours. The amount of recognition I have now is beyond what I ever imagined – well, what I ever imagine when I was in my sane mind, anyway.

And my writing has definitely improved a lot. I mean, really. Look at the first chapters of Brinecraft,Remind Me, and I Blame My Evil Clone, and then try to look me in the eye and tell me they don't suck. Seriously, I dare you. -.-

Now read the latest chapter of either DTDT or Forget Me and compare them to those first chapters.
