Mira was welcomed by a very happy and excited Savitri. Prabhakar hugged Abhi who stood there clueless seeing the welcome from them. Behind them, stood Aaryan with his arms crossed and Nandu, beside him with a nervous smile. Mira passed a curious look to her and she closed her eyes assuring her. Savitri held her chin and pulled it close to hers.

"We are so happy Abhi... Nandu and Aaryan told everything to us. Don't worry about our decision. We are more than happy to get you as our son. But it is totally upon her call."

He looked at Mira who was standing there frozen. Where as Abhi was happy listening to her parents. He smiled at her father.

( PS: Here is your Abhi !! I am running to a safe place)

"Miru will decide for herself." She heard her dad giving his take on the topic.

Mira stood there emotionless.  She ran upstairs. Confusing everyone. Savitri was surprised to see her reaction where as Prabhakar smiled in response. He knew she needed some time to think. After all, she is his dear daughter.

Mira was numb. Unable to realize what she was going through. She lied on her bed hugging her pillow. Hot tears streamed down through her eyes.

On one side, it was Abhi. Her close friend in a short span of time.

It was her who have given him the space to share his emotions. But never once she thought it would backfire and come to her like this. She dint know whether to regret her decision for befriending him and pulling him out from his dark life. She was happy that he started to see his life worth living. But never once thought of taking their friendship to another level. Not for becoming his better half.

On the other side, it was him. Whom she have never met not even once in her life.

Her Dream man, Mr. D. Who was he? To her? She had no answer. Will she ever meet him in her life? She badly wanted him... His closeness... His touch... The moments they had in her dreams. She was missing that in real...

She closed her eyes reliving her dreams.

A moment later she tightly closed her fists and eyes.

Their fight, his tears, her helplessness. Created an unbearable pain within her.

She felt pain of betrayal. A wave of disappointment and sadness rushed in. She cried her heart out. She wanted to run away. Not knowing where.

After sometime, she went downstairs. She saw her family including Aaryan and Abhi sitting together sharing some jokes. Abhi was seated with Prabhakar and Savitri on either sides who held his hands. Aaryan was sharing their childhood stories with them and Nandu was laughing hard.

Mira was dumbstruck! She never found them so happy. Yes her parents were super cool. Her role models. But she noticed they always had a worry look in their eyes.

It was for her. Her health. Fear of losing her being the reason for their worry.

She knew her parents loves her like anything. Not even once, they restricted her in anything. When she wanted to do degree in fashion designing after resigning her job. They agreed for it. The only concern was she had to move away from the city. But upon Nandu's constant pressure, they finally agreed. It is just that they want her close to them. They were like that.

Mira saw how happy they are with Abhi. She felt as if their happiness lies in her decision.

Being a daughter, she know she have some responsibilities. She need to get married someday. Yes But then, what is it she have with her Mr. D? Should she leave him just like that? Why is he coming in her dream? And why did they fight? Why she still feel the pain of betrayal?

She closed her eyes and found the smiling face of Abhi. Her friend. He have just recovered from his past. And that's because of her. She knew how much his family suffered. They had almost lost their son. Now that he found something for her, how will she hurt him? What she should do? She couldn't find any solution.

She went back to her room thinking of any possible way out. Suddenly Anu's faced flashed in her mind. She took her mobile and dialled her saviour number two.

"Hey Miru... Ufff...Finally someone got time to remember me." Anu teased her.

Not getting any response from Mira, Anu became worried.

"Hallo ! Miru... Sweety... What happened ma? Are you ok?"

"Anu..." She heard her sobbing, which made her more tensed.

"What is it Miru. Tell me.. Did your hurt yourself?  Or did anyone say something? What is bothering my girl? Should I come there?" She was restless.

"Anu.. No ! I wished you were here. I thought of not calling you. But then again, I can't discuss this with anyone else either. I miss you."

"Are you crying because you miss me? Or is it something else?" She was confused.

"Abhi proposed me" She sobbed. Anu was shocked to the core. She felt weak. Her dreams, her love just got shattered with her words.

"Wh.. What? Abhi? When?" She managed to speak.

Mira explained the whole thing while Anu silently sobered down.

"What should I do Anu? I am not that strong. Especially when I have to take decisions. It is true that I don't feel anything for Abhi. But I can't deny other's happiness at the cost of my selfishness. I have seen how happy my family is with him. And Abhi, I am afraid if he goes back to his past life. All he wanted is my friendship. He just asked me my opinion. But Amma and Appa are thinking too much I guess." Mira was feeling low.

Anu thought for a while and asked.

"Is that your problem Miru? Abhi just asked about your opinion on taking your relationship to next level right. Not that he wants to marry you the next day. You still have lot of time. Think what is more important to you. Your own happiness or your loved one's happiness."

"My family's happiness lies in getting Abhi as their son in law. I saw their excitement today. And my happiness... I don't know. Where it lies... I am clueless! Mr. D... I am stuck there!" She spoke in a low voice.

"Are you insane Mira? You are talking utter nonsense. You are thinking about a person whom you haven't met till now. He is just your imagination. See you still couldn't see his face properly. How are you going to wait for someone from your dream world? It is all your imagination dear. Don't spoil your life for an unknown person and your stupid emotions for him. I want you to be happy." She stopped for a while and continued.

"I would have supported you if there was a guy in your life. But this case is different. Abhi is a good guy. He have seen the worst in his life. Love and the pain of losing it. Don't destroy his happiness. As you always advised him, let him give a chance. To live his life happily. And he is just like you. A good soul. You guys will make a good pair. Think well and take your decision Miru. I will be with you."

She disconnected the call unable to speak anything further. Anu fell down on her knees shedding silent tears. She wanted Abhi to be happy. And if her best friend can give him the happiness he deserved, she is ready to forget her feelings. For them. She thought.

Mira dint come out for the whole day. Savitri and Nandu wanted to comfort her. But Aaryan and Prabhakar thought of not letting anyone influence her. It is her life. She have to decide. Not upon anyone's pressure.

On the other side, Abhi felt miserable. He did not see her for the whole day. She even refused to eat something. He felt guilty as if pressurizing her. Since all the four of them refused to meet her, Abhi thought of talking with her. He will ask her to forget everything he said this morning. Since it was late, he thought of meeting her the next morning.

Mira was wide awake. She was confused still. She prayed, chanted her Hare Krishna Maha Manthra the whole night to get some peace. She know she had to meet everyone and can't escape from them for so long. More than that, she have to meet Abhi. She can't let him suffocated while making him wait for her answer. Positive or Negative. She have to let him know and he will take it in a good way. She was sure.

Abhi couldn't sleep the whole night. He wanted to meet her and let her free from this confusion. He knew she wasn't ready for all this. He knew it was not easy for her. Especially when she dreams the mystery man. Life was not fair on her side too. They were sailing on the same boat. And that's why he thought of giving each other a chance. To make their life colourful. He was ready to accept her in every way. But not at the cost of her happiness. For one moment, he dint know if he was doing is right or not. He hasn't completely moved on from his past. But he dint want to suffer for that either.

Both reached the garden for getting a peaceful mind and found each other in the same confused state. It was an awkward moment for both of them.

Abhi spoke after a few seconds.

"I am sorry for yesterday. I shouldn't have crossed my limits. It is just that I didn't want to hide anything from you. I felt something for you. If I hide it and behave as if nothing happened, it would have been something like cheating you. I don't want to hide anything from you Mira. I know I can't force you. And trust me I won't do that either. I need your friendship more than anything." Abhi added truthfully.

Mira looked into his eyes and found genuine feelings for her. She shouldn't hurt him. She thought.

"Abhi..." She called his name softly. He was hesitant to look into her eyes.

"I am sorry for my behavior yesterday. You don't have to apologize. You are a good soul and a good friend. That is why you don't want to hide anything from me. I am blessed to get you as my friend. I was confused. Not knowing what to answer."

Abhi looked at her with guilt in his eyes. He was responsible for her confusion. And he was sure he will be getting a negative response from her.

"I was selfish. I dint think of other's happiness. I have seen how happy my family is when they are with you. I was a good daughter to them I hope. But they need a son's love too. Which you can give them. And more than that they will be happy seeing me close to Nandu Akka. So I thought about it."

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "It is a YES from my side. I am ready for taking our friendship to the next level. But I need some time to sink in. I may not be a good lover. As I don't have any feelings for you yet. But I will try from my side. Hope you understand."

Abhi couldn't believe what he heard. She said YES. For a new life. For a new journey. He couldn't thank his stars more. "Mira, you don't know how happy I am. I am ready to give you time and space. I will be your friend first at any stage of our life. You can mark my words."

He immediately gave her a quick hug. They went inside with smiling faces.

Abhi let the family know about Mira's decision. Aaryan and Nandu were out of the world. They informed his parents about this. It was like a celebration for both of the families. Everyone was happy for them. Finally things were changing for good, they thought.

Things went way out of their hands . The family anted them to get engaged. They were ready to give them as much as time for the wedding. But right now, they needed a confirmation. Abhi and Mira tried hard to postpone the function as they were still not ready. They needed to discover their feelings. And they needed time. But some things were beyond control.

It was all done so fast. Pandit was called. Date was fixed. Shopping was done. Preparations were going on in full swing. Just like Nandu's engagement, Mira's was also fixed to be held on their native place. Anu couldn't take all this and she chose to stay away from being with her. She informed her that she will come directly to the venue taking the excuse of spending time with family.

Abhi couldn't recognize his emotions. Was he really happy? Or did he need more time? He was also in a confused that as he knew Mira wasn't ready for making their relation official. Things were not in their hands and he couldn't back out now. So he chose to go with the flow.

Both the families reached the venue.

It was the day before engagement. Upon constant pressure from Mira, Anu came with Avanti, She knew about her sister's feelings for Abhi and wanted to support her in this situation. They met Mira's family. Savitri and Prabhakar felt relaxed seeing them as they knew Mira will be elated to see her. Avanti was given a room as Anu wanted to stay with Mira.

Abhi was happy to see Anu after a long time. But she chose to remain silent. Trying hard to control her tears each and every time she sees him. Anu did not want to meet him and went to meet Mira.

Mira was in her room deep in thoughts. Her engagement saree and accessories were kept on her side. Anu sensed that she dint even touched it once. She went to her hugging from behind tightly. Mira turned around to see who it was. She was happy to meet her best friend.

"Anu... I missed you my little one. Why didn't you call me all these days? You dint pick my calls too. You know how worried I was?" Mira pouted.

"I am sorry my ma... Don't pout like that. I am here for your big day na? I met Abhi. He seems to be happy. You took the right decision darling. So happy for you."

Mira wiped the lonely tear drop fell from her eyes. "I see... You said you are happy and why this tear? I am not going away from you. You have to still tolerate me for the rest of the course."

"Happy tears..." Anu squealed at her hiding her inner feelings. "Now that I am here, I want everything to be perfect for my best friend's engagement. Let me meet Nandu Akka. Where is she?"

"She must be downstairs. She is keeping a distance with me. I think it is because she is miffed with me." Mira sounded sad.

"But why?" Anu was confused.

"Hmm she tried to convince me for getting us engaged and I said something rude out of anger. Later I tried to apologize and pacify her. But she dint budge. Now she just helps me in selecting accessories and communicate things with Jeeju as mediator. Anu, please help me in sorting out things between us." She held her hands.

Anu sensed her sadness and promised to make things OK between the sisters.

The day passed with the preparations going in full swing.  Finally it was the D day. Alarm snoozed waking Anu and she turned around to check Mira. She was surprised to see her wide awake. She quickly hugged her and send her to get ready for the function.

Mira had her shower and was sitting in front of the dressing table.

The engagement outfit was of her Nandu Akka's choice. A light orange Kaancheevaram Saree and minimal accessories. A lone tear escaped her eyes which she quickly wiped off.

She heard the door open and found Nandu bringing Jasmine flowers for her. She looked happy but pressed her lips in thin line. She placed the flowers on the dressing table and turned around to leave the room.

Mira couldn't take it any longer and held her wrists. "I am sorry Akka. I shouldn't have spoken like that you. It is enough. I am not able to bear this distance. It is my engagement today. And how will I be happy without seeing your smile?" Sadness was clear in her voice and Nandu realised it.

She smiled and cupped her cheeks. Gave a peck on her forehead.

"Miru, I am not angry with you. I am happy that you agreed for the engagement. Give a chance to him. He will keep you happy forever. Now get ready. We will be waiting downstairs." She smiled and left the room.

Nandu's words echoed in her mind. She got ready and was waiting for the Muhurtham.

Suddenly she heard the door opened by Arpitha, her cousin sister. "Akka, your friend has come to see you. He is waiting in the guest room. Shall I bring him here or will you go there?"

"Huh? My friend? Ask him to come here. I am not allowed to go anywhere till the ceremony." She informed her cousin. She wondered who it was.

"Akka but I don't think it is good if he comes to your room."

"Hmm OK. Then, ask him to wait. I am coming." Mira was confused. She didn't invite any of her friends. Least they knew about the engagement. Then who would it be?!

She walked towards the balcony near the guest room and found someone waiting with his back facing her. She frowned getting an unknown vibe. Her steps became slower.

"Excuse Me" She called out.

Recognizing her presence, the man turned around to face her. She looked at him for a moment and got the biggest shock of her life.

There stood him. The same tall, masculine figure who haunted her in dreams. She blinked her eyes twice to check if she was hallucinating. He was looking her with the same intense eyes.

She was sure... it was not hallucination. He is here... Right in front of her. Her Mr. D!

But who is he? What is he doing here? That too on her engagement day.

Her breath got stuck. Throat got dry. She closed her eyes struggling to breathe properly. Finally she composed herself and managed to speak. "Hi... May I know who you are?" She tried hard not to break her voice.

She saw him smiling at her with an intense gaze, which confused her. She frowned and asked him again.

"Excuse me. I am asking something to you. Do I know you?" her voice trembled a bit at the last sentence.

He came forward. Close to her. Looked deep into her eyes and smiled. She felt herself losing in his smile.

"Yes! You do. Think... Ask yourself." his voice was deep and intense. Just the same as in her dreams. She was dumbstruck!

"No! I haven't seen you till date." She lowered her eyes and turned around unable to bear his powerful gaze.

"Baby... If you think I am a stranger, go ahead. It is your engagement today. But if you are lying, you will come to me no matter what." He stood behind her, turned her to face him. He wiped the lone tear which escaped from her eyes, hugged her and gave a peck on her forehead.

Mira was shocked. She couldn't move an inch. She felt numb. With a smile, he left the room leaving her behind all confused..

"BABY???" and the peck. She stood there with shock written on her face.

Prabhakar and Savitri came to her s it was time for the ceremony. She was taken downstairs. Saw Abhi standing near Aaryan and Nandita. His parents stood next to her parents with smiling faces.

Mira felt her heart heavy. Is she doing right? Abhi and Him. She need to choose one. Till this moment, he was just an imaginary character. But now he is real. He has come for her. She didn't feel him as a stranger. She looked among the audience and found his intense eyes. She felt a shiver pass through her body.

Closing her eyes, she heard her Amma calling her name and she was brought to stand next to Abhi. Rings were brought by Aaryan and Nandu for the bride and groom.

Pandit was chanting some mantras and they were asked to exchange the rings. Abhi looked at her confused face and assured her by closing his eyes. She slightly smiled.

Savitri nudged her to take the ring from Nandu. She took it out and her eyes found his intense gaze. His face showed determination. As if he knew this won't happen.

She put the ring on Abhi's finger. Next it was Abhi's turn. She saw him taking the ring and she shifted her eyes to her Mr. D.

She saw his eyes reflecting pain. Both felt an unbearable pain deep inside their heart. She shook her head in denial. It was not right. This shouldn't happen.

She saw him leaving the hall and couldn't take any longer. Mira collapsed in her sisters arms.
