The palace of Hoshido was peaceful for a spring morning. You were out in the gardens playing with ninja stars. Your father was a ninja for the royal family. He offered you lessons, but you didn't want to become a ninja.

You wanted to learn the ways of the bow and arrow. Those were more affects in battle than some slim and small ninja stars. But still, you played with them and threw them into trees where they either got stuck, or you missed by a long shot.

When you weren't paying attention you threw one of the stars towards a person passing by. You gasped, but quickly looked up to see they caught the star in their hand. It was boy around your age. Darkened green hair and violet colored eyes.

"Do you even know how to throw these?" The boy asked.

You squinted your eyes at him. "You look familiar... but with red hair..."

The boy smiled with a teasing tone. "That's just my twin brother, Saizo. My name is Kaze."

"Oh, but what do you mean about throwing it right?" You asked.

Kaze held up the ninja star, a dim light casted around it's edges. "If you want to throw a ninja star right you must know how to hold it first. Care for me to show you?"

"Hmmm... alright."

Kaze waited until you sat down on the ground and gave him your full attention. He nodded his head and started, by pulling his shoulder back and arching his back. It was silent until the crisp sound of the blade cutting through the air sounded.

It struck the tree perfectly at the target center. You jumped up from surprise and stared long and hard at the star. "How did you...?"

"Can't you tell from my clothes I'm a ninja?"

You rolled your eyes. "We're the same age, so you can't be a ninja just yet."

He chuckled. "I guess so. Are you training to become one yourself?"

"Nope!" You held up the bow and arrows behind you. "I'm wanting to become an archer. I feel bow and arrows are more for me than becoming a ninja."

"Care too show me your skills?"

You froze in place. Just because you wanted to be an archer, doesn't mean you practiced. But if you said no too him then it would have just looked weird since he showed off just for you. You didn't speak, but you nodded towards him and stood up.

You stood in place and pulled back the arrow. Even breeze... nice position... and great eye coronation. You released the arrow and... it didn't even reach the tree as it fell to the ground. Kaze let out a chuckle as you growled at him.

"Shut up! I'm still just learning!"

Kaze wiped the tear from his eye, laughing a little bit. "I-I can see!"

You pouted and sighed, sitting back down on the ground. "I can't do anything right. Dad will become disappointed in me once he sees me with my skills... if I can't do ninja stuff.... or archer stuff... then I'm good as dead meat on the battle field."

"Don't stay that." Kaze sat next too you and smiled. "I'm still not the best at throwing ninja stars. Ninjas have to throw them while flying or running, but I can only throw them when holding still."

You smiled back and hugged him. "Thanks, and my name's (y/n)."

Kaze patted your head. "I know, Saizo says your the one who boast all the time about your amazing skills."

Your face grew red hot as you screamed and called for Saizo. From them on, you and Kaze became childhood best friends.
