She was the second daughter of Viserys Targaryen—first daughter of Alicent Hightower.

Rhaella knew her father had always wanted a boy, but he did after Rhaella. Aegon Targaryen was soon born after Rhaella was.

Even as a young child, she knew of the divide between her family. Her step-sister, Rhaenyra Targaryen was the heir to the iron throne, the first born of Viserys Targaryen.

But her mother, Alicent Hightower wanted Aegon to succeed the throne. As did her grandsire, Otto Hightower.

Rhaella never understood her mother's hatred towards princess Rhaenyra. They were once close friends, fallen on opposite sides of war.

Rhaella looked up to her half-sister, she really did. Rheanyra was everything Rhaella enspired to be when she grew up.

But when her father dies and her mother claims he wanted Aegon to be king, Rhaella starts to not trust her family...
