[INTRO. READ BEFORE COMMENTING]

Parsnip had done it. He'd used his small size and quickness to retrieve the keys from the guards, obeying Kiba despite his usual ornery personality.

Now they were headed to find Garten before he carried out his plan of revenge against the Berkians. First though, they had to find their dragons.

It was a while before they found the dragon dungeons, but they did. Freefall was surprisingly fine except for the still-healing wound on her neck, and the rest of them were alright as well.

Rasmus, who was trained in hand-to-hand combat, knocked out the few guards easily and they unlocked the dragons quickly.

"Stop!" A yell stopped them in their tracks. Garten stepped out from the shadows, grinning. "Did you think you could escape so easily?"

"Did you think you'd get revenge so easily?" Thalia parried, holding her  head high.

Garten's smirk turned to a scowl, and he pointed his sword at the riders, annoyed. "Get them!"

Too late, they realized that they had no weapons. Thalia ducked under the swing of an axe and kicked the guard  in the stomach. When he dropped to his knees she wrenched the axe away from him and smashed it against the side of his head, rendering him instantly unconscious. Of course, she preferred her sodegaramis, but any weapon was welcome at this point.

"My axe!" Simeag grinned at her. "You found it!" The girl had been guarding their camp, but she too had been captured and was very eager to get back at the men who had imprisoned her.

"Um, yes," Thalia reluctantly handed the weapon to the eager girl and looked around to see how the rest of her team was faring.

Now that Simeag had her weapon, she seemed to almost be enjoying herself. It was no surprise that she wielded it excellently, smashing through the horde of men that kept coming.

Kiba had a small knife that he was inflicting deadly pain with, and Parsnip was perched on his shoulder, biting any guard that came anywhere near him.

Freefall was raging, her venom laced fangs and claws wreaking havoc among Garten's huge force. She and Frostbringer were a deadly duo, both able to strike without fear because they were covering each other's backs.

However, a wily man ducked under Frastbringer's wing while Freefall was looking the other way and thrust a large spear into her chest. The deadly nadder shrieked in pain and threw the man across the room before collapsing.

Thalia ran, giving no care to her safety. But when she reached her dragon, the nadder was already very weak. Frostbringer crooned softly, nudging Thalia's knee, and then went very still.

"No!" Thalia yelled, tears running down her cheeks. "Frostbringer I need you!"

Kiba was by her side, defending her from the men that had begun to surround her. "Thalia," he said. "We have to keep fighting."

Numbly, she stood up, noticing a man who had suspiciously familiar spiked staffs in his hand.

"I believe those are mine," she said and he hastily put them forward in defense. He was awkward and clumsy, unused to such a weapon, and Thalia was slightly almused. "You don't deserve to have those."

Meanwhile, Rasmus was with his Monstrous Nightmare Deathglider. One hand was inside his vest, clutching at a wound in his stomach as he flew. A crafty viking shot him with his own bow and arrows. He was sorry he made that mistake, and now Rasmus had his bow back, but he couldn't shoot it with his injury.

Slowly, Garten's men were beginning to retreat. He snarled a curse and raised a bow to shoot Thalia. Surely that would end the fight. She was their leader, and carried with her the morale of her team. Just as nocked an arrow, Nova caught sight of him and urged her dragon faster.

He released. Nova jumped off of her dragon, yelling Thalia's name as the arrow sailed through the air. It thundered into Nova's chest as she hurled herself in front of the alpha, and it was like slow motion as she fell heavily to the ground.

"Nova!" Thalia screamed. "No, no! Why did you sacrifice yourself like that?" She cried, as she stroked the fallen girl's hair and felt for a pulse. There was none.

At the same time, Asher had snuck up behind Garten. At the last moment, Garten whipped around to attack, but Hope and Jade were ready and ignited the air. The men looked away as Garten was incinerated, then fell silent as the fact sunk in that their leader was dead.

"Leave this place!" Thalia yelled. "Leave and do not come back. You have a chance to become honest men, and I suggest you take it!"

They ran, scattering as if they'd never been there, taking the wounded and dead with them. The hall seemed empty with just the six riders. Two of their own had been killed, and it would be a long time before they would h done grieving. But they first had to finish the fight.

They burned the roots and all the charts explaining how to create the root, then went back to their camp to build funeral boats for Nova and Frostbringer.

The furnace was short, but everyone cried for the young girl who had given her life for her leader, and the dragon who'd gone down fighting; heroes.

Hope and Jade had also been injured and were limping heavily, but they were fortunately well enough to fly.

Now it was time to make the long journey home, and Thalia climbed onto Freefall behind Kiba, wrapping her arms around him. Nova's dragon Shockwave had not gotten over her death and would not let anyone ride him at the moment.

As the wind blew gently, Thalia began to drift off; the responsibility and grief taking its toll. She was in a deep sleep, rocking with the sway of Freefall's wingbeats.

They had won the day, but not without a cost.

Wow that was exactly 1000 words of battle! It was emotional from me to write it 😩😭
I hope I conveyed all of your characters well. Let me know if I didn't.
So they are going to have a welcome feast at Berk and be celebrated as heroes. The afterwards roleplay will just be them in their normal lives. (*wink wink* Khalia in their natural habitats)
This roleplay has been the best and I thank you guys so much for participating!
