A/N: Word: sangfroid noun 1. composure or coolness, sometimes excessive, as shown in danger or under trying circumstances.  Found this in my drafts and I don't know where I was going with this.  This is so horribly out of character. *crys*

"So," Nya began, sliding next to her brother at the dining table, "Skylor said she is going on a one month business trip. What's that all about?"

Kai sighed internally and resisted the urge to roll his eyes.  Yes, he loved his sister, but right now she was being a nosey pain in the you-know-what.

"Securing investors," he responded in his signature sangfroid tenor, "you know, making sure the business stays afloat after the fallout with her father."

"Hmmmm," Nya responded, half interested in his words and more interested in her agenda, "and that has nothing to do with that really long and LOUD conversation you two had last night?" with a heavy emphasis on the word loud.  The other ninja shifted uncomfortably in their seats.  They were used to Nya's headstrong attitude but listening to her pry into her brother's affairs this early in the morning was not something they wanted to witness.  Nya had obviously struck a nerve, which wasn't terribly hard to do with the master of fire, as Kai responded with an explosive retort.

"Loud last night? You should be one to talk Nya! I'm sure everyone heard whatever was going on with you last night," then he looked directly at one ninja in particular, "Jay," he deadpanned.

Jay's expression quickly turned from one of don't talk to me before 10AM to that of shock and betrayal. "Dude!" he bellowed, "don't drag me into this!"

Kai snickered. "Not so fast. You aren't getting out of this, you and Nya are a packaged deal."

Jay opened his mouth, but his gesture was more out of mild offence than any attempt to speak, which was rare for the master of blabber. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, Nya filled the silence for him.

"Our loud conversation ended with both parties being quite satisfied, unlike the results of your loud conversation."  At this point everyone at the table was trying to come up with an excuse for why they shouldn't be there at that moment.  If there was ever a time for Cole to open up a bottomless pit and allow Jay to casually fall in and never be found ever again, now was the time.

Zane, always the one with the voice of reason, finally interjected, "Nya, for all our sakes, please leave your brother alone right now."
