Self Esteem is how we perceive ourselves. Our opinions and beliefs of ourselves fuel our self-confidence and tend to have many effects on our everyday lives.

Low self-worth is closely linked with mental illnesses like depression and anxiety. Yet, some people still aren't aware of how much their low self-esteem impacts them.

Here are a few key traits of someone with high self-esteem and a healthy sense of self:

- They value and like themselves as a person
- They assess themself with positivity when things go wrong
- They can make their own choices and assert themself
- They feel they can try new or challenging things
- They show kindness to themselves
- They genuinely believe they deserve happiness
- They can identify personal strengths

Working to achieve some of these list items can substantially help improve mental and emotional health.

My goal with this book is to assure others don't feel alone when struggling with low self-esteem. I want to create a space to share advice about gaining confidence.

Several chapters will be published about low self-esteem and how to work towards improvement. As a small step towards achieving healthy self-esteem, I want to challenge you with something.

This may sound silly or difficult but whenever you think poorly of yourself or get caught in a net of self-hatred, think about how you would react if someone talked to your friends or family that way.

Remember, you are loved and needed. You are just a human like everyone else on this planet, be kind to yourself like you would anyone else.

    Your friend, Jaycee

   - I tell myself I'm pathetic and useless. I impede on my value without thinking, "If someone said this to my brother, I would feel dreadful for him."
Still, held for myself, are higher standards and negativity. Treat yourself how you treat others -
