Brand New Start

DELILAH ASAN WAS GOING THROUGH HER IDEA of how someone was supposed to go through a break up. Of course, she wasn't exactly experienced in the topic, Adam being her first well... everything but, she figured she was doing pretty good. Step one was to eat her feelings while listening to sad music or watching sappy movies, step two was apparently to listen to stupid fortune cookies and pack her clothes for a road trip.

What was step three you ask? Ah, well that was to take a pair of scissors to her hair in the guest bathroom of her family home. Honestly, she hoped the loose strands would clog the sink before she left.

Did Delilah hate her parents? No, but, she was angry at them for forcing her to be with someone who eventually cheated on her. Her and Adam started off as an arranged marriage, one to keep the packs in line but, as time went on, she developed a crush.

One that ended up just crushing her heart.

She knew she wasn't exactly in love with him, it was obvious by the way she cringed whenever she had to say the three simple words "I love you" but, seeing him with her best friend wasn't nice either. What really wasn't nice was seeing them together in her bed. To sum it up, nothing in her life was nice.

"Stupid jerks." Delilah mumbled into the mirror, harshly clipping her hair as a chunk fell down into the small sink.

She felt a mix of relief and shock by the fact that she had just done this. Delilah Asan was the exact opposite of impulsive, and that had been true since the day she was born. However, she knew it was time for a change.

No high school, no boyfriend, no best friend, it was all gone, and she needed to get away.

After finally getting her hair to the perfect length, she threw the scissors into her sink and headed back to her room. The alpha wolf had already packed everything that she deemed important, and lazily threw it into her bag on top of the bed. She let out a content sigh as she picked it up, realizing this was it.

No more being trapped, she wasn't a prisoner.

Delilah quickly exited her room just as fast as she came, descending the steps that led directly to the front door. She was grateful that nobody was home, there was nothing she had to say to anybody that was going to make her feel better. She would just leave, and then in a few days she'd let people know she was okay.

If they actually cared.

The wolf turned the doorknob, taking in the fresh smell of spring that she had always loved. It was the perfect time to leave, during her absolute favorite season. Her plans were going swimmingly, or so it seemed.

"Delilah!" She mentally cursed upon hearing his voice. Not now, not when she was trying to make a speedy exit. "I've been looking all over for you."

"Ah, you decided not to check my house? Somebody must not be too good at where's Waldo." The Asan girl let the front door close behind her as she rifled through her pockets, finally taking her car keys into her hands. "What do you want, Adam?"

"For you to hear me out, you are still one of my best friends and—"

"Best friends don't lie to each other." Delilah interrupted, not wanting to hear the million excuses that the boy no doubt had. "Same goes for Bree, you can tell her that the next time that you see her."

"When did I ever lie? Me and you never loved each other. Not like that, and you know it." Adam tried to reason, running a hand through his hair. She could hear his heart beating rapidly, the girl not sure of what it meant. "I just didn't tell you the truth and yes, I fucked up but, how could I tell you that I was in love with her?"

"Just spitting it out would have been nice." The Asan girl scoffed at the silence between them, deciding to continue. "How long, hm? We've been together since we were fourteen, arranged marriage or not, that's a long time!"

"The ending of Junior year." The Cooper man admitted quietly, his eyes narrowed in on his feet. "I'm so, so sorry, you were never supposed to find out like that—"

"Junior year? We graduated months ago!" Delilah scoffed, finally deciding she couldn't let herself suffer with hearing all these details any longer. "I need to go, goodbye, Adam."

She didn't let him speak another word as she got into her Volkswagen beetle, throwing her bag into the back seat. The girl watched as he leaned against the garage door, raising her middle finger to him as she backed out of the drive way. If one thing was for sure, she would never let anyone hurt her that way again.

Delilah Asan was ready for a new start.
