The cars chased down the hill with such speed that you had to dig your nails into the metal pole.

The explosion of the bright light softened, only for a shockwave to chase across the land.

The car underneath your feet started to shake and for a moment it seemed like it was about to sink into the earth to never be seen again.

"Fuck me, that loosened some fillings!", Mason shouted, a few cars ahead of you.

All of a sudden, bullets chased through the air.

Struck by surprise, you pulled your head in.

Adler started shooting.

"Light em' up!", Mason shouted.

The battle started.

"Bad guys! Lots of bad guys!", Woods laughed.

Your eyes jumped through the fake brightness, searching for him.

He was standing on one of the cars, not in the front as he usually would do it, but in the back. He fired some shots into nothing.

It was hard to tell where the enemies were coming from with a thin layer of dust and dirt filling the air.

Squeezing your eyes together, you grabbed your sniper rifle and checked the surroundings through the telescope.

"What can you see?", Adler asked, on his knees, while shooting the vague silhouettes.

"Not much.", you gasped and aimed for a dark spot that seemed to get closer suspiciously fast. "To your right!"

His head snapped around. Gun raised, he got ready to shoot at sight.

But as the Soviets broke through the fog, their attacks were faster than Adler's reflexes.

A rain of bullets came flying at you.

You had a second left, jumped up and tore Adler down, before one of the soldiers behind you was shot in the face.

"I thought you're good at this!", you laughed and pushed Adler back up. "We need to get the driver down. Fuck the rest!"

Not complaining, he nodded and raised his head high enough to get a good view of the car that was now following yours.

As you looked up, you could spot the outlines of a city in the distance.

"Solovetsky is close!", you shouted and grabbed your gun. "If they fall behind us, we won't have enough space to dodge attacks!"

"Already on it!", Adler raised his gun, but hesitated. "I can't see."

"I got you!", squeezing one eye shut, you raised your rifle and used the telescope to see through the fog. "Shadow to your right. Slowly lower than us."

He shot.

For a second, the shadows disappeared. The sound of tires squeaking filled the air.

But the roaring of engines came closer.

"Fuck!", you turned and aimed for the movement yourself.

"Try hitting the engine.", Adler advised.

"I can't even see the the car, how am I supposed to find the fucking engine, Ads?!"

The outline came closer again.

Slowly, you raised the barrel of your gun and aimed a bit higher than what seemed to be the cars windshield. Your finger twitched on the trigger, but hesitated, as the driver of your car made it hard to stabilise the shot.

A slow breath escaped your lips.

You pulled the trigger.

For a moment, nothing but the sound of shots and car engines filled the air.

Then someone hit the brakes. The shadow flickered and something crashed.

"Good shot.", Adler pulled his head in next to you.

Letting out a deep breath, you slid down to get out of the danger zone.

"Thanks.", you switched ammo. "How far are we?"

"We're entering now. Keep your head down."

All of a sudden, the car rose into the air only to hit the ground with such force that you almost slipped out.

"What the fuck was that?", you gasped.

The car took a turn.

Heat cut through the winter of Solovetsky.

A town came into sight, demolished and scattered to ruins. Flames reached up into the sky.

Somewhere in the distance, Russians screamed.

The car stopped in the back.

Others were already jumping out and took positions.

Mason and Lazar secured the middle while Woods stormed off with a unit of soldiers to take the lead.

You wanted to follow, but Adler pulled you back.

"We're last.", he said and took a right. "We've got another target to chase."

Frowning in confusion, you tilted your head.

But Adler just turned around and rushed towards his target.

Your head snapped around and caught a glimpse of Woods.

Frowning, he jumped back and wanted to reach out to you.

But you shook your head and told him to stay where he was supposed to be. With a shaky breath, you tightened your grip on the gun and chased after Adler.

"Where to?", you asked while running.

"Down into the church.", he said and looked up. "Ten minutes left."

Nodding, you picked up a quicker pace and jumped up the stairs.

The door was locked, but Adler didn't waste any time and threw himself against the wings to force them open.

"Adler, this is Hudson!", Hudson's voice suddenly filled your ears. "Have you cleared the AA guns? We need to launch these bombs!"

"We got one AA clear.", Adler confirmed.

"You know that's not good enough. I can't risk an early strike. We've got one shot at this."

Huffing, you pulled a face.

"Maybe do the dirty work with us then.", you snarled sarcastically.

A low sound was heard from the other end of the line.

"You're one to talk. After all, if Bell lied, you'll be the one responsible."

Adler guided you down some stairs and into a cellar.

Cold air hit your face.

"But he didn't.", you said and jumped behind a table to seek cover. "And once this is over I'll enjoy a big, long paid vacation. I'm thinking Hawaii. How does that sound, Jason?"

"Don't ever call me that again."

You smirked.

"Pleasure doing business with you."

With his teeth clenched, Adler did a gesture so that you'd move.

"We got five minutes before all of Europe goes nuclear!", he pushed forward.

You followed him as his second, securing the path that lay behind you, covered in Russian blood and corpses.

"Then let's hope you can run fast, Addy.", you huffed.
