"Nice room.", you said and pushed the closet doors open one by one to check if the coast was clear. "Who did you have to suck off for it?"

Woods huffed, but his face turned grim as you looked up.

Rolling his eyes, Mason pulled out a huge bag from under the double bed.

"You two are the worst.", he growled and opened the bag to reveal three sets of evening attire. "Adler definitely made a mistake putting the two of you together again."

You and Woods exchanged a quick glance. Both of you pulled a face but it was undeniable that great minds still thought alike.

With a shrug of his shoulders, Woods turned away again and grabbed a suit from the bag. Displeased, he curled his lips. His eyebrows pulled together and the wrinkles appeared.

While he was standing like this, halfway turned away, you noticed that the sides of his once deep black hair were turning bright.

Like silver, the strands stretched from the side of his face to the back of his head. The hair was still mainly black. But his age was slowly showing.

"Got something on my face?", he suddenly asked.

Torn from your thoughts, you blinked.

"Huh?", you raised an eyebrow.

He turned to face you.

"Do I have something on my face?", he repeated, more aggressive this time.

You frowned, already annoyed that he was trying to pick a fight again.

"I just noticed you're getting old.", you gifted him a smug grin. "You're starting to own the title, old man."

A warning hiss escaped him.

"If you two don't shut it I'll loose my shit.", Mason threatened and threw a bundle of red fabric at you.

You caught it mid air and took a closer look.

"Why am I getting red?", you frowned.

Woods huffed, already starting to undress and squeeze himself into a white dressing shirt and suit jacket.

"Makes you look exotic.", he teased sarcastically, but something inside his eyes moved and gave away he wasn't purely joking. "Hey, Mason, does it come with some lingerie?"

Warning, you bared your teeth.

Mason didn't even try to interfere anymore. He just sighed and started changing.

"The target was told to look out for a contact person in red.", he said. "You're the one who has to do the talking, so you're the contact person. Red for you."

A groan escaped you.

"Fine.", you rolled your eyes. "God... I hate red."

"Stop complaining, sissy.", Woods shrugged. "I hate suits. Do you hear me crying?"

He jumped into some suit pants, pulled a face a cursed softly as his foot got stuck and he stumbled onto the bed.

Amused, you chuckled.

"Too stupid to stand up straight?", you asked.

Mason gifted you a warning look.

"Don't.", he said softly and turned to the door.

"Where you think you're going?", Woods asked.

"I have to ring Adler.", Mason threw a glance over his shoulder to lock eyes with you. "I'll be back in ten. Do me the favour and don't slice each other's throats, okay?"

Woods growled.

"You're really going to leave me here with the spawn of the devil?"

Rolling your eyes, you let your head fall back and sighed so deeply that it made you feel the vibration all the way up to the back of your brain.

"I'm this close.", you gestured with two fingers. "This fucking close to send you to him, old man."

Woods bared his teeth.

"Guys...", the way Mason called out made clear that he wasn't having any of this. "You're two adults. Act according to it. I'll be gone for ten minutes. Ten minutes!"

Chewing on the inside of your cheek, you exchanged a glance with Woods.

He growled, but silently agreed to keep it down for the time being.

Agreeing but not quite wanting to, the two of you let out a humming sound and shrugged.

Relived, Alex let out a deep breath. He was already struggling to keep his cool. It seemed like he had underestimated how annoying the war between you and Woods could be.

With a nod of his head he opened the door, but glanced at you one last time before leaving. Judging by the look in his eyes, he still expected you to be the bigger person.

A fatal mistake because if someone knew what a donkey you could be, it would be him. And Woods.

The door feel shut, leaving you and the worst man of your life behind.

Actually, that wasn't entirely true. Woods had been a good man. A good boyfriend as well. But everything good came with something bad. And he had a lot of bad things to share.

Things that had ruined it.

An uncomfortable silence spread in the room.

For a moment, you stood next to the bed, arms crossed, still fully clothed in your tactical gear. Only the gun was laying next to you on top of a drawer.

Woods was already halfway finished, but still struggled with the cufflinks. A soft curse escaped him.

"Damn these things...", he mumbled to himself.

His huge hands and long fingers were too big to be able to handle the little pieces of metal. Every time he tried to push them through the holes, they slipped out.

After the fourth attempt, his eyes jumped to you.

Bright blue met curiously shimmering (E/C).

A grumpy expression appeared on his face.

"What?", he asked, a bit harsh.

You shrugged.

"Your hand skills never were your best quality...", you teased and grabbed everything you needed. "I'll occupy the bathroom for a moment. If you have to take a piss, do it out the window."

He let out a low hum.

"Right onto those rich bastards expensive cars. You know what? I don't hate that thought."

Disgusted, you pulled a face but couldn't fight back the chuckle that rose up your throat. His cocky, scratchy voice and the constant sarcasm in his words never failed to amuse you.

He noticed and froze for a moment.

"What?", you raised your chin.

"Nothing.", he turned his eyes back to the cufflinks again. "I just... forget it..."
