"All clear." Laverty whispered setting his gun down to his side as he stood up straight. He looked around the room the sunset light shimmered into the room from a large window against the wall to his right. Dust floated about indicating to him that this room has been abandoned for a while now. That's good for them. It meant nobody went up there and they wouldn't have to worry about anyone catching them, if they decided to make camp there.

From the papers thrown everywhere and the up turned desk , it must have been an office of some sort. Nothing was on the walls but everything on the floors: from broken hung certifications, broken glass to papers and the desk drawers.

"We could make camp here for the night." Laverty stated still looking around the room. His eyes landed on Kalista as she stepped into the room. Her head cocked to the side, like a dog inside their house listening to whatever was happening on the other side of the doors to the outside. He watched her as she made her way to the window. Her movements were almost ghost like. She moved as if she was floating just above the floor. Her dark cloak made it hard to tell where she was looking or hid any body language that might give way to what she was thinking.

He slowly walked up behind her looked at the once busy and pristine city around them now broken, deserted and growing with vines. A light thud was heard from his left and he looked over at her. Her forehead was pressed against the glass. Her chest raised up and fell as she let out a small sigh fogging up the glass. Her eyes gave nothing away. She looked out at the city as if she was in her own head rather than actually seeing it.

Laverty inhaled a little to loudly and he looked back at the city, "The sun is beautiful." He started. " Rays of orange and red mixing together on the buildings. It kind of reminds me of those fancy churches that have the stained glass and when the sun hits just right the color swim on the floor." He looks at her. Her face seemed to perked up as if she wanted him to continue. So he did. "You know the building in front of us?" He shrugged one of his shoulders, his head cocking to the side a bit. "The vines are over growing it to the point it kind of looks like an octopus wrapping his tentacles around it ready to pull it down and drown it." He said quickly as he suddenly wrapped his arms around her and picks her up. Lets out a small genuine laugh as he sets her down.

"The parts of the city that are still blessed by the sun looks like it would feel like...." He paused to find the right word. Her head tilted a little to him waiting for him to finish.

" A hug." For once as he looked at her, a smile played in her eyes, "A good hug.. A warm hug." He added before correcting himself.

He watched as she turned her focus on to him and looked up at him. He looked down at her and for a moment her eyes were some what dark, almost black. Almost normal. With a slight movement of her head and the moonlight softly on her skin, the soft colors came back and it was as if she was looking through him instead.

Laverty rubbed his eyes with the back of his hands before he raised his arms above his head for a stretch. His back arched as he rolled over to his side and allowed his body to slump over once more. He let out sigh as he settled into his new position. He heard nothing and that was the most beautiful sound in the world to him. His eyes began to close again as if the sandman himself was dropping sand over him.

Pop

His eyes flew open.

Pop

Pop

Laverty was up in seconds with a gun in his hands.

Pop

It's all he heard. They were distant but getting closer. His eyes scanned the room.

Nothing.

"Ka-" He stopped when he didn't see her anywhere on the floor. He did a 180 turn around the place to find her but he any sign of her had vanished. As he gathered everything they came with, he cursed himself and ran out the door.
